I think I'll put my two cents in

Why did I choose the ones I did?
Actually, I went off of personality traits, and was actively trying not meta it too much, which is something I'm worried about. For the most part the ones I took I consider to be my writer's pool, the only other one that might be applicable was Formidable, but, it didn't quite fit.

Why did I choose these three?
Again most of this is in character, but, I want to point out something now that Ohm has
Specialized, Lucky, Inspiring

1) Specialized
Choose 2 Positive Modifiers (other than Affects Multiple) when you pick this Affinity. Those Modifiers costs you 0 Essence to apply to Effects.
First off I mentioned in character, Tenma, unlike a lot of characters is already specialized almost cripplingly so. in concept because of source. His only like source of any recognition is I'm a midfielder. Which is a big thing in Inazuma, which implies some level of specialization (e.g. Engage and disengage). Therefore things like Damage and what not should not be high in his roster (Except lol no) Character reason done.

Mechanically speaking, I know where i'm going because the abilities I technically have/need are going to be Indirect/Triggered/Ongoing. While Ohm mentioned ongoing and Indirect and I'm not pouting in the corner (It would be nice, but, I'm compelled to also point this out), there is a balance issue here. It means more complex abilities can be put out or written at nearly the same cost as a flat ability, e.g. Level four Speed, would cost the same for a character who had specialized ongoing level four speed. That's actually a huge advantage. To be fair, I don't see triggered as problematic. Then again. I'm not using it as a trap specialist, most things I'd have as trigger also have activation on top of them. So e.g. react to danger. triggers. Now, it would be super easy to say just... no 100 Rank cost modifiers and multi. I actually don't think mutli isn't the issue here.

Triggered is equally AS POWERFUL. It's 50 E less, but, it's got some insane uses

We are left then with RANGED +50 PER RANK OF EFFECT , SELF/OTHER +25 ESSENCE PER RANK OF EFFECT, TRANSFERABLE +50 ESSENCE PER RANK OF EFFECT
You have a much smaller range in which one would actually choose this. Uhhh. So by removing the problematic ones you are definitively gutting the core affinity. Granted, I could be wrong, but I don't see these modifiers as much in the character abilities, more in the coin purchases (Please don't quote me on that, I've skimmed some, and that's the feeling I got, I'm sure I'm wrong). Well Ranged, lol, I see that being used often.

Especially something like
Gifted: You can purchase "Skill Groups" consisting of up to 5 "Specific Skills", at the normal cost of a single Skill. You also gain +1 to the Skill Rank Cap. (Again another cost saver if you have skills)

or

Exceptional: You may "flavor" Coin as an internal reservoir of "energy", purchasing Consumables as though they are limited-use Abilities inherent to your character. Events that prohibit Consumables still apply. You also gain a 25% Consumable Discount for these "internal" consumables (does not stack with Thrifty).

Ohm outlined why this one is problematic really well.

I think a staring point, is to move Specialized down to one modifier.

Or to make it a noted EFFECT + MODIFIER. Eg. you choose two effects. And if you use the modifier in conjunction with those effects you get it free. I think that might be a cleaner way of doing this, emphasizing a distinct, Focus on a type of ability?

I'm not sure how to address coins, I actually feel like the coin ones are more problematic due to the fact one can gain coins far easier and there's not... as far as I know a coin cap, where essence has a cap?

Going to just really quickly note this, since it seems like extra qualities are being given to it:
Exceptional does not give you anything that you can do with your normal consumables, from a mechanical perspective, that you do not already get. it allows you to flavor your consumable purchases differently, but does not change when you can buy the items or how you can use them except for that flavor. From a mechanical sense, it is just a weaker 'thrifty.'.

Frieza: Influential, Formidable, Inspiring or Immortal

Influential or Formidable might be swapped depending on how influence works exactly, and Immortal or Inspiring I'm torn between because on the one hand, stronger minions is always a good thing, but on the other hand..... I want to be chopped in half and have it only be a major injury.

but also I don't want this bitch to actually be immortal bc I like watching him squirm, you feel?

As an aside: event runners will handle damage differently from event to event. In general, you can take that part of the Affinity as "go a little easier on this guy", rather than outright damage reduction.

Masahir: Gifted, Lucky, Exceptional

Masahir is one of those apparently rare overwhelmingly skill based characters. She has a few abilities, eventually, but not enough that I feel strongly one way or another towards the other affinities. Exceptional would be pretty neat to give her, just to mess around with the idea that she doesn't have her own innate superpowers and has to effectively "outsource" them.

Ezrihel: Formidable, Influential, Specialized

Ezrihel is a pretty formidable psychic, a war hero in his own lore, and pretty highly specialized in his general arsenal.

I can still see the uses of the other affinities, I just don't have more characters to put them on, so rip lmao!

Ooo, questions. Here you go!

-Can others benefit from Affinities in any way like people could benefit from your perks, e.g. applying a Base/Minion/Consumable Discount to their purchase, via a quest? If so, is it still obligatory that your 'main' character be there, or can the benefit also be shared if the other person goes to the Affinity-holder's Base or meets a Summon/Minion of theirs?

-What would a Rank 11 skill (via Gifted) look like? Will your skill go even beyond the stuff of myth and legend and... I dunno, make people's head explode when they witness you doing it, or will the other ranks be toned down a bit to make 11 the new "legendary"?

Mewtwo will get its hands (paws?) on Specialized and Formidable. Still juggling ideas for the third one.

Koa will have Thrifty, Extravagant and either Enterprising or Persuasive. Not sure, either.

1) People can "commission" your character to purchase items for them, yes. Which allows you to "sell" them at a profit for you while still giving them a discount.

2) It would be, more or less, "One of a Kind" ability in that skill. A name so synonymous with it, that you can't mention that field without the person coming to mind. Like Einstein and science.

For Saryuu, I'm juggling around the concept of Formidable and Specialized but the third one is going to be a doozy to choose. Decisions, decisions.

In no specific order, for Musashi I would choose the following:

Gifted | Formidable |Influential

Runner ups:
Specialized
Lucky
Immortal

Honestly, I really like the ideas of all, Specialized, Immortal and Lucky and honestly I'd be interested in those as well, but a'las, only three.

My reasonings for all of them:

Gifted:
Musashi is known for mastering all kinds of skills in her chase of the Throne of Void.
As the Book of the Five Rings states, to master the art of the sword, one cannot devote themselves only to swordsmanship.
They must learn the finer arts of strategy, calligraphy, art, carpentry, the list is endless.
In short, to master the sword, you must know everything there is to know in the world.
See the small from the big, and big from the small.

Formidable:
In swordsmanship, she is known as the greatest swordsman to ever live. As such, I believe this is more than apt.
She is someone whom you do not want to face in a duel - or you want to, more than anything.
I feel her her abilities should match the absolute monsterous legend of a duelist that she is.

Influential:
As a trafeling swordsman/sellsword/duelist whom has never lost a duel in her life, I believe her name would spread all that much faster.
Especially with the two affinities above.

All in all, I believe her name would most definitely get out there, both in good and bad, through her various antics.

Runner ups:
Specialized:
This would dance rhythm with Gifted, allowing her to master things easier and such.
However, I'm less keen on it than Influential. This is because Influential represents a side of her character that isn't represented otherwise.
Specialized is just a different flavour of gifted.

Immortal:
I think it would present her side as a heroic spirit excellently. However, I have not so far brought that side up all that much, nor do I have much intention to do so.
As such I'm less keen on it than the other three. I really like the effect it grants though.

Lucky:
She's a flip of the coin. She's either incredibly lucky, or incredibly unlucky, whichever her guardian saint decides on a given day.
I adore the effect of Lucky, so I like it. However, it does not add to her character as well as the others, so I'm again, less keen on it.

Question:
Amms asked about Gifted, where the 11th rank in a skill would basically make you a unique, unmatchable legend of said skill.

I assume that the 12th rank of abilities would behave somewhat similarly?

So thought i would give more feedback

Its tough for me to chose because a lot of these could fit Vic

Specialised, Formidable and Immortal

Specialised gets me back almost 1/5th of my Essence right away and I know I would be getting ranged and ongoing on a lot of stuff.

Formidable because Vic is supposed to be pretty handy in a fight, and I did say Vic's daggers would be the highest damage attack in the game XD

Immortal: I mean thats kinda obvious, but I can have the same effect at a 500 coin investment.

Inspiring or persuasive were interesting because Vic does have minions and I see him gaining a lot more, plus I am in a faction so an ability that can benefit everyone is good. If anything I would just buy minions up to my rank cap for abilities and then have someone else who has inspiring upgrades them the last level.

Gifted was also an interesting choice but if I chose it or immortal I would either have to drop one of the two more fun ones or drop the one to help the rest of the faction.

Disappointed there wasn't a fusion related one XD
