Character Name: Ahana Varma

Character Source: OC

Profession: General
Ahana is a General serving under the self-proclaimed "emperor" of Neo New Babylon, Victor Wolfe. Her job mostly just consists of doing what she's told by him and their religion's high priest, Sigmund Vrell. Although she is technically the city-state's military leader, the emperor has already hired his own private troops, and the clergy look set to follow suit in the near future.

Spent Essence: €10,250

Physical Tendencies:
Power (P): 10%
Toughness (T): 80%
Quickness (Q): 5%
Skill (S): 5%

In theory, Ahana is fit and healthy enough to be capable of quickly dodging or blocking most attacks that come her way. She just doesn't bother, since she's nigh-immortal anyway. As a result of this lack of motivation, she has never put any real effort into combat training, which has resulted in her being rather unskilled.

Personality Tendencies:
Aggression (A): 40%
Cunning (C): 20%
Diplomacy (D): 20%
Support (S): 30%

Ahana likes killing. And torture. And hurting people's feelings. Basically, she's not really a very nice person. That said, she will usually be perfectly willing to work with others whenever doing so will benefit her in some way, and she is smart enough to recognise when someone else is more intelligent than herself, so isn't likely to ignore such people out of arrogance.

Physical Description:
209199200
Ahana is a young woman (24 y/o) with light brown skin and a lithe figure. Her irises are gold-coloured. She has long, black hair which reaches her hips, and a bindi (i.e. a red dot) on her forehead. In addition to a normal set of human ears she has a pair of rabbit ears in top of her head, which match the colour of her hair. She stands at 5'2” (62”/157.5cm) tall (excluding the height of her bunny ears) and weighs 8st 5lbs (117lbs/53kg). She dresses in a simple, orange sari (a dress-like garment which leaves her midriff bare) with a gold stripe along the outer edge of the drape portion of the outfit, which is lined with small rubies.

Character History: [LINK]

Abilities/Skills:

Pyrite Pyromancy of the Divine Conflagration
[200]
Damage 1 (100)
--Ongoing (100)

Ahana can manifest a small, gold-coloured flame anywhere within half a metre of herself, and can manipulate it freely. It requires no fuel to continue burning, so can even float in mid-air. This flame is not very harmful, but can give painful burns to those who touch it. It can also be used to illuminate her surroundings.

True Immortality of the Divine Conflagration [3750]
Healing 7 (1400)
--Ongoing (700)
Protection 2 (200)
--Ongoing (200)
Endurance 6 (600)
Adaptation: Chemical or Toxic Environments (50)
Adaptation: Disease (50)
Adaptation: Radioactive Environments (50)
Adaptation: Nonbiological Anatomy (300)
Adaptation: Incredible Cold Environments (100)
Adaptation: Incredible Heat Environments (100)

Ahana’s innate magic, ‘the Divine Conflagration’, grants her superhuman stamina and renders her immune to all manner of diseases, poisons, and even radiation. It also protects her from the most extreme temperature fluctuations imaginable, and (to a lesser degree) other forms of harm as well. In the latter case, golden flames appear wherever an attack lands on her body when she is struck, and block (or at least mitigate) the damage from it.

Furthermore, whenever an attack is not fully blocked, her body rapidly repairs the damage. When this happens, the fire lasts until her healing is done before extinguishing itself. It is from these flames that the name ‘Divine Conflagration’ originates. As if that was not enough, her magic also keeps her alive no matter how gruesomely wounded she is, even if the level of harm is so severe that it would be instantly fatal to a regular person (e.g. decapitation).

It does have some limitations, though. The first of these is that it only heals her body, it cannot repair her clothing and possessions. The second is that her immortality is not perfect; there are some things which can kill her. Namely, these are thirst, starvation, suffocation, and exposure to the vacuum of space. Also, whilst this magic is active by default, she can choose to suppress it if she so desires, weakening or fully negating the effects temporarily, and when in this latter state she is no more difficult to slay than any average individual.

Bunny Ears [600]
Sense (Hearing) 3 (300)
--Ongoing (300)

Ahana’s rabbit ears are extremely sensitive to sound, allowing her to pick up very quiet noises even from a long distance. Also, they are able to swivel and can move independently of one another, allowing her to easily pinpoint the location of whomever she hears.

Sextuple Enfilade: Cherrywood Orbs of Desolation [2700]
Damage 6 (600)
--Indirect (600)
--Ongoing (600)
--Affects Multiple 3 (900)
--Concentration (-300)
Move Object 1 (100)
--Indirect (100)
--Ongoing (100)
--Ranged (50)
--Limited (Orbs, 30ft) (-50)
cherrywood-ball-template-kindlephoto-14523767.png
A set of six, half-foot-wide, varnished, cherrywood orbs, with arcane glyphs engraved all across their surfaces. As a result of these glyphs, the spheres are extraordinarily durable and are magically bound to Ahana in such a way that she is able to control them remotely with her mind (though this does require significant concentration).

Whilst being concentrated upon, the orbs can fly tremendously fast and can be manipulated at up to 30ft away from her body. As such, they make for fantastic weapons, in most cases being able to instantly kill a normal person in but a single strike. However, if any are ever outside of that 30ft distance, those ones will instantly revert to being inanimate objects until she is back within range to control them.

Whilst not being concentrated upon, the orbs can either remain inanimate objects, or (if they are within range) Ahana can cause them to hover in the air near her, following her around wherever she goes.

Master Skills:

Supreme Will
[3000]
Master Skill: Social (Intimidate) 7 (350)
--Bases and Upgrades Discount (1750)
Master Skill: Rituals/Arcana 3 (150)
--Bases and Upgrades Discount (750)

Although Ahana isn't particularly charismatic, she still has little difficulty coercing the average citizen to do her bidding, even when what she desires of them is immense discounts on massive construction projects. Being one of the three most influential figures in Neo New Babylon means she is largely immune to the consequences of her actions, and she is not afraid to take full advantage of this in order to threaten (or make an example of) anyone who has the audacity to expect her to pay them a fair price for their goods or services.

And on a semi-related note, she has been learning a little about magic as of late, which has allowed her to cut her costs even further, as a result of using mystical processes to achieve certain things, rather than relying on more costly, manual labour.

Items:

Map Fragment
(x1)

Assembling the correct number of map fragments on a single character or within a single faction grants the ability to seek out, discover, and design a brand new world for Multerra. Turning in the map fragments triggers an epic level Quest. Upon completion, the player or faction members will enter into a design process with staff oversight, designing and introducing a new world to Multerra's collection.

Minions:

Light Infantry Soldier [300]
Minion (300)

The troops of Neo New Babylon's army vary as widely as the citizens of its empire, and their clothes reflect this: from miners in their workwear, to elegantly robed dwemer, to savages wearing little more than loincloths. Aside from the superficial details, however, the members of each division are all much the same in their physique, fighting style and skill level. Those in the light infantry are soldiers with lithe builds who forgo armour in favour of heightened mobility.

True Blessing of the Divine Conflagration [1500]
Healing 4 (800)
--Ongoing (400)
Adaptation: Nonbiological Anatomy (300)

So long as they are cleansed in the arcane fires of Ahana’s Divine Conflagration once every month or so, anyone sworn to her service (i.e. her troops) will be granted a measure of her regenerative powers and immunity to all but the most excessive of fatal injuries. Even decapitation will not hamper them for long.

Arsenal: Melee Weapons [200]
Damage 4 (400)
--Removable (-200)

The armouries of Neo New Babylon are well stocked with arms to suit all manner of soldiers. In the case of those equipped with melee weapons, they can wield anything from stilettos to spears, nunchucks to scythes, kukri to greatswords, etc. They possess an amazingly wide variety of armaments. Also, some of the soldiers choose to dual-wield.

NOTE: Despite the Damage rank, not all of the weapons these Minions use are equal in power. The weapon will only ever be as strong as it would be IRL. Also, they have the same downsides as IRL as well, so swinging around a greatsword a lot will tire out a Minion with a slimmer build, even though this Ability as a whole lacks the Side-Effect (Tiring) Modifier.

Trained Body & Mind [800]
Speed 1 (200)
--Ongoing (100)
Agility 1 (200)
Endurance 1 (100)
Adaptation: Immune to Pain (200)

All of the soldiers of Neo New Babylon are required to train frequently, and thanks to the blessings granted them by their general, they are able to do so with actual weapons and real bloodshed. Not only does this make for a great workout, but it also leads to them building up significant thresholds for pain, due to experiencing grievous injury so often.

NOTE: Despite the Adaptation: Immune to Pain Modifier used in this Ability, these soldiers are not truly immune to pain, but merely have a high tolerance for it.

Bases:

Garrison of VARMA
Base (1000)
Stationary, Size 6 (x6)

This is the barracks of the official army of Neo New Babylon, which Ahana has renamed “the Veritable Armed Response Military Agency”, solely to give herself an excuse to stick up a massive sign on each of the building’s exterior walls with her own name written on it in all caps. The garrison is a squat, plain-looking building, but is, however, incredibly broad. As well as at the (heavily reinforced) doors, sentries are posted on the (perfectly flat) rooftop to keep watch. It has no windows.

The main building features residential quarters, training grounds, and some office space, as well as a shrine-like room filled with golden fire. Ahana calls this fire her "Divine Conflagration", and it is the source of her Minions' healing magic. Beneath all of that is a basement level which is split in two, with a dungeon on one side and on the other a large holding pen for the “lava lizards” which her soldiers sometimes use as mounts (particularly when scouting).

Garrison Walls [1200]
Protection 6 (600)
--Ongoing (600)

Ahana’s army’s barracks is constructed of thick stone, but isn’t magically protected in any way. As such, a level of damage high enough to break through “almost all traditional construction materials” (i.e. Damage 7) would be enough for an intruder to break inside. Despite the name of this Ability, this level of durability also applies to its floors and ceilings.
Blessed Litter of the Supreme Authority
Base (1000)
Mobile, Size 2 (x2)
224
This Base consists of a cherrywood frame, a cherrywood folding screen, and a balsa wood chair, upon which Ahana can lounge as she is borne about by her ever-faithful underlings. Unfortunately, despite being considered a ‘Mobile’ Base, it actually isn’t, in and of itself. It has no means of propulsion other than being light enough for her Minions to lift, and so can only move at whatever speed they can haul it around. It takes the strength of four average people to carry with Ahana on board.

Enchanted Wood of Arcane Durability [1400]
Protection 7 (700)
--Ongoing (700)

Ahana’s litter is made of cherrywood (the base & folding screen) and balsa wood (the chair), and both parts are heavily enchanted to keep from breaking under all but the most extreme damage. This doesn’t really help anyone riding on or carrying it, though, as the enchantments affect only the structure of the Base itself.

The Story So Far
Chapter 0: Character History
Born into a tribe of bunny-eared bandits on Mesa Roja, Ahana’s childhood was anything but ordinary. Aside from being unusually hardy for a kid (as they discovered when she was kicked by an irate camel one day and broke not a single bone), it also seemed that people around her had a tendency to heal faster than normal, with minor cuts or infections vanishing completely in minutes.

She was hailed as a gift from the gods, and trained as a priestess of their obscure religion… even if her inability to deactivate her aura did somewhat complicate the human sacrifices which were so beloved by their pantheon. Everyone adored her and so, naturally, she became a spoiled brat. This wasn’t really noticed much, as they had all convinced themselves that she was some sort of demigod, and so weren’t about to start judging her.

As time went on, both the power and the reach of her aura rose, which led to her becoming ever more prized. Eventually, it got to the stage that even those on death’s door could be restored back to peak condition simply by being within half a dozen metres of her for a minute or so. It was at this point that her people entrusted her with their most sacred relic.

The legends said that it was a blade entrusted to them by their gods and that it housed the soul of the fearsome Greater Demon, b’Akphiyr, who had once tried to overthrow the pantheon and enslave the bandit tribe. It was, in theory, supposed to be wielded by the mightiest of their warriors, for the blade’s hunger for blood would lead to inevitable victory on the battlefield.

The only small issue was that the blade wasn’t particularly concerned with where exactly the blood came from, so long as there was plenty of it. The tribe had long ago locked it away and ceased using it after the weapon had killed or maimed many of their greatest champions and chieftains. As Ahana could heal, though, they figured that she could be trusted to hold onto it without accidentally killing too many of them, and that her presence on the battlefield, wielding their greatest treasure, would be inspirational to her fellow bandits, and might even earn them greater favour with the gods they worshipped.

Things went pretty well for some time after that, and it seemed like they might actually be onto something. But they got too greedy in their rampant success, and started thinking they could take on foes far out of their league. They had little in the way of magic, aside from Ahana with her aura of indiscriminate healing and her debatably useful sword, and they had no technology to speak of… so when they dared to attack a convoy of vehicles belonging to a much more heavily armed band of bandits, they found to their dismay that swords and bows were of little use against foes armed with miniguns and rocket launchers.

Of all her people, Ahana was the only survivor… as much by chance as by design. She was riddled with bullets, but none of them struck anywhere that would slay her with any degree of immediacy. So she lay still and in pain amongst the bodies of the dead and dying until at last she had healed enough to rise. By this time their targets were long gone, as was the precious cargo they had been hauling.

With the only family she had ever known lying dead all around her, there was nothing left here for Ahana… not that she cared overmuch. Having been told all her life that she was special, that she was better than everyone else, even that she was divine... had not exactly left her a down-to-earth, empathic sort of person. She was more irritated that those she viewed as her underlings had failed her than upset at their fates.

She hopped on the first ship off world that she could get herself a ticket for, thinking—as she often had in the past—that she might enjoy life more on a world which was less of an arid wasteland. As poorly educated as she was, though, she had not the slightest clue what she was getting herself in for. She saw some tourism posters which seemed to indicate that every planet in the Crossroads would be a much nicer place to live than this one, so didn’t put much thought into where exactly she was going.

When she first got into the ship, nothing seemed amiss, but once they neared their destination and everyone began changing into cold weather gear, she felt a twinge of worry. She had never seen snow, so had absolutely no idea what she was in for. And of course, she was much too contemptuous of others to accept help.

She was truly lucky that—though she had been completely unaware of this herself—her “divine” gifts included an inhuman resistance to extremes of temperature. Had it not been for that, she wouldn’t have lasted through her first couple hours on the ice world of Inverxe, never mind a full day.

Once she worked out what was supposed to happen when people were exposed to -30°C temperatures, and that she was immune to this particular frailty, Ahana became absurdly smug about the whole thing, and thoroughly enjoyed wandering the icy wastes in her light, desert garb. Still, showing off wouldn’t put food on the table, so she began hiring her presence out to the locals, who seemed only too happy to have the added protection of a healer as they mined in the bowels of the unstable moon… even if they were generally rather off-put by the immense sword she insisted upon bringing everywhere she went.

Former Abilities
Intro
The below listed Abilities are things which Ahana owned/could do at one point in time, but has since lost access to, for one reason or another.

The Cursed Sword of b’Akphiyr [200]
Damage 4 (400)
--Indirect (400)
--Indiscriminate (-200)
--Chaotic (-200)
--Removable (-200)

A cursed sword inhabited by the soul of a demon who goes by the name "b'Akphiyr" (pronounced like "backfire"). This weapon is much lighter and less cumbersome to wield than it ought to be given its size (160cm long) and weight, yet hits just as hard as would be expected of such a large sword. On top of that, its blade also possesses the ability to (partially or wholly) take on a smoky, shadowy, ethereal form whenever the demon wishes for it to do so, enabling it to pass through solid objects such as walls.

As a result, it would be an excellent sword to own, were it not for the fact that whenever it is swung, b'Akphiyr will decide to target whomever he feels like cutting, regardless of his wielder's intentions. In many cases, this results in the wielder themselves (or their allies) being the ones harmed, rather than their foes. B'Akphiyr has also been known to sometimes turn his blade ethereal when his wielder attempts to use him to block an incoming strike.
Destroyed in a battle with xenomorphs, when it was dissolved by their corrosive blood.

Immortal Aura of the Divine Conflagration [5025]
Healing 7 (1400)
--Affects Multiple 3 (1050)
--Ongoing (700)
--Indirect (700)
--Weakness (Inorganic, Non-Living) (-175)
Adaptation: Chemical or Toxic Environments (50)
--Affects Multiple 3 (150)
--Indirect (100)
--Weakness (Inorganic, Non-Living, Requires Healing) (-25)
Adaptation: Disease (50)
--Affects Multiple 3 (150)
--Indirect (100)
--Weakness (Inorganic, Non-Living, Requires Healing) (-25)
Adaptation: Radioactive Environments (50)
--Affects Multiple 3 (150)
--Indirect (100)
--Weakness (Inorganic, Non-Living, Requires Healing) (-25)
Adaptation: Nonbiological Anatomy (300)
--Affects Multiple 3 (150)
--Indirect (100)
--Weakness (Inorganic, Non-Living, Requires Healing) (-25)

Whenever anyone near Ahana (regardless of any physical barriers between them) is harmed, magical, golden flames break out spontaneously over the injured area, rapidly healing the damage and then receding when this is done. Though this Ability activates without her conscious control, she can choose to exclude certain people (e.g. her enemies) from being affected, should she so desire.

This aura is so powerful that it can even keep people alive long enough to be healed if they have taken ordinarily fatal damage to their vital organs (e.g. decapitation). What’s more, it repairs all damage done by diseases, toxins and radiation faster than it can be inflicted, essentially rendering those in range immune to these hazards. Note that these secondary Effects are all tied in to her healing magic, so if she is ever unable to heal someone for whatever reason, these things will also not affect that person.

Lastly, note that this Ability only heals, it does not repair. This means that: a) it doesn’t fix torn clothing and armour, and; b) it is completely ineffective on inorganic and/or non-living characters. This means that fully robotic beings (and potentially cyborgs, depending on whether their biological or mechanical parts are the ones damaged), as well as true undead, will not be healed (though “infected”-type zombies are fine).
Following a certain magical ritual, Ahana's full power was sealed within her body, rather than being allowed to "leak" out as an aura.

Burning Heart of the Divine Conflagration [1200]
Adaptation: Incredible Cold Environments (100)
Adaptation: Incredible Heat Environments (100)
Endurance 6 (600)
Protection 2 (200)
--Ongoing (200)

The high concentration of mana within Ahana’s body grants her superhuman stamina, allows her to endure tremendous amounts of pain and renders her immune to even the most extreme temperature fluctuations. She is also protected from harm to a degree; whenever she is struck golden flames appear around where the attack lands and block (or at least mitigate) the damage from it.
When a certain magical ritual forced all of Ahana's magic back within her body, this Ability was replaced by something new, which was a fusion of it and her aura.
