Character Name: Amalia Eckern
Character Source: OC
Starting Location: Opealon
Character Behavior:
Troubled Spirit Host
Troubled - Between the loss of her sister, disownment by her family, and spirits invading her body, Amalia has had a rough life. She generally has a shielded and almost anxious demeanor, keeping to herself and often taking notes of the exits of whatever room she walks into. Crowds spook her out and she finds it hard to relate to strangers. That said, she is often kind and considerate to others - sometimes to a fault. When she feels comfortable she can be more talkative and jovial, but warming up to someone can take time.
Spirit Host - Amalia’s body is host to numerous spirits, some benign and some malevolent. She is able to manifest and control these spirits to some degree. Most of them have a desire to protect her if only out of the selfish desire of not wanting to find another host. Without her spirits, however, she has little in the way of defending herself.
Physical Description:
Describing Amalia is a tricky task, due to her features changing slightly as new spirits inhabit her body. To most Amalia could be described as “corpse-like”, her eyes are a dead pale-green and her skin is nearly translucent. If one stares too closely at her long black hair they may be able to recognize faces. However, when manifesting spirits her hair takes on a more ghostly white color and begins writhing as if it is a living thing. Generally she wears street clothing bought from second-hand stores, with a preference for hoodies. Around her neck is a locket with a picture of her and her sister inside.
Character History:
Some people are cursed to live terrible lives from the moment they are born. Amalia, however, was not born as one of these people. She was born to a loving family in Opealon’s crown jewel - The City of Hope. Indeed, her and her sister’s childhood was an idyllic dream, both of them given all that the city could offer. Status, wealth, knowledge, and the simple pride of superiority was all handed to them upon a silver platter. However, all of the opportunities in the world could do nothing in the face of Amalia’s burgeoning curse. She began to see things. She began to perceive the dead that had been ground up to form the city’s pristine firmament. Had she grown up in a place such as Arcadia perhaps her curse would have been mastered and turned into a gift, but this was the City of Hope - and there was no hope for the hopeless.
At first her condition was merely considered a malady of the mind, a disorder that could be remedied. She was fed medicine and pushed through rigorous rehabilitation programs, but what she had was not something bound by the laws of science. No, her condition was that of esoteric and unnatural things. Despite her nature, her sister, not yet fully indoctrinated by the upper crust of society, provided nothing but love and affection for Amalia. The rest of her family was not so kind. She was an abomination, and though her parents loved her, they loved their status even more. Officers, armed with weapons and harsh words, stormed her bedroom while she was asleep. She cried for her parents and they merely watched, pitying not her but rather the loss of a daughter they never had. Her sister, however, rushed to her side. It was at this moment that the terrible spectres that called Amalia home chose to defend their claim. A childhood’s worth of bogeymen and bumps in the night burst forth from her flesh. Unable to control her spirits, Amalia could only watch as her sister was killed in the ensuing crossfire.
Eventually her spirits were brought low and she was restrained. Status quo was returned to the City of Hope. Her sister was given a funeral that her parents milked for every bit of sympathy they could. Amalia, deemed too dangerous to be restrained, was hurled into the roiling oceans several thousand feet below. Most tormented souls cast from the City of Hope would have been given the mercy of death, but the few remaining spirits within Amalia managed to break her fall. She survived the fall from grace, washing up on one of the many sea-hulks floating across Opealon’s glistening surface.

When manifested the fragment takes the form of a massive shoulder blade, materializing in an open space within moments. This bone is incredibly durable and can protect against most attacks, and it is large enough to protect several people. Once fully materialized the bone becomes invisible, only being revealed once damaged. Lastly while active Amalia’s right leg becomes progressively more injured as the entity is no longer sealed and begins to ravage her flesh. Amalia can reseal the fragment at will, but repeated uses expedite the damage to her leg.
