“I’ll stay awake a bit,” Cho rasped, nursing the wound on his cheek tenderly, “Don't think I could sleep just yet. Kinda hyper on edge now, yknow?”

“Understandable. It’s a shame they got away. We may get another shot at them soon.”

“I guess. What you said before, though, about fight or flight and whatever? That was crazy helpful. I think.. I think I punctured that dude’s lung with this thing..” Cho couldn’t help but grin a little, the madness of it all left him in disbelief, though he winced as he did so. “My cheek fuckin’ hurts though. That was rough, think he managed to scratch my throat with the nail as well, hurts like hell.”

“We’ll have to keep an eye on that as we go. We would t want you to fall to infection now, would we?”

“Oh.. true. Killer headache as well. I got clocked pretty good.”

“And here you are, still. Victor would be proud. He’d be even merrier if we come away with a kill or two under our belts, hmm?”

Cho nodded a few times, staring into the fire, his finger still toying with the edges of the nail wound on his cheek. He winced as he prodded away, but made no effort to stop himself from poking the gash. He scootched a bit closer to the fire, I sure whether the shaking in his hands was due to the cold or adrenaline.

“You know what.. I might try and get some sleep. Everything’s a bit fuzzy and.. yeah. I feel weird. That was a lot, yknow? Wake me up when it’s my turn to take watch or whatever.” Cho offered up a brief smile as he lay down in front of the fire, his back turned to Sigmund. He stared out into the forest around them; sleep very much not on the table for the youth.

His story was truly fascinating, every adventure Victor shared with the maiden he managed to gain extra credit in her eyes. A man with this much experience would make for a great partner...on paper. However, Victor’s words aided the headache currently torturing Kayleigh’s mind. She did not mind the man sharing his life story, it was however horrible timing. It felt like an axe split her brain in two equal agonising pieces. It was a lingering pain gifted to her by their opponents on the steep mountainside. Focussing on her breathing she managed to soldier on through the rough terrain. Health took a turn for the worst when her Stomach decided to rebel in response to the pressured pain between her ears. Surrounding noise faded together with the voice of her companion, she heard the air filling her lungs before being forced out again. This wasn’t good, not now, not in front of him…

“Curses!” The maiden shouted before presenting Victor’s stew for a second time upon the ground. The stew was ejected from her stomach full force, dropping Eudora on her knees.

“How curious.” The ladies-man said as he observed Kayleigh empty her stomach on the ground, coloring the terrain every tint of brown imaginable, “Usually this happens after I lay with someone, not before.” A fiery glance was shot towards the jester before round two of the hurl fest began.

“They-... They must have cursed or poisoned me somehow, those cowards.” The virago proclaimed, seeing it was the only logical explanation to her. Lacking actual life experience really showed its face there.

“I highly doubt it, love.” Victor said while poking around the secondhand stew with a stick, “Could be you have a concussion of some sorts. You might want to take it easy for a bit. We can rest for a few moments while you collect yourself.” The man might be one of the most strange people she had ever met, but at times like this, he was actually useful when sharing his wisdom.

For now, the duo took a breather. Waiting for the next surprise the island of Karl Jak has in store for them.
