Day 2, Phase 1
Early Morning Phase: 0000 to 0600

”And as the clock strikes midnight, a new day breaks upon the island! You have all been quite busy down there, it seems...how lovely! Let us bid a fond farewell to the following contestants:

#017 King
#006 Mid-Boss

“I am sure they will be eternally missed… But let us not dwell on that! There is still a game to be had!”
The host’s clear voice burst into child-like giggles of utter delight. ”The Danger Zones from the prior phase have now become far more deadly. And as the sun breaks the horizon, the following shall become all-new zones of grave danger:

C-9!
G-11!
F-12!
D-12!
E-10!
G-4!
C-11!
G-13!
C-10!
J-4!
D-12!
E-11!
D-11!
E-8!
D-10!
E-11!
G-12!
E-10!
K-8!

They won’t kill you, just yet...but that doesn’t make them any more fun, by any means. Just ask a certain ice princess!”
Again the host laughed with unfettered joy, before regaining his composure.

”Ah, yes… And lastly, there will be another Easter Egg being dropped off on the island for you all. It will be atop the mountain in L-12, this time! Just as before, your collars will arrange a trip there -- and back, for the survivors! Of course, if you’re already in the neighborhood you could travel there yourselves, as well…” The overblown shrug was almost audible, even through the speakers.

”Regardless of all that, though...have fun out there! I’m looking forward to the continuing carnage!”

NPC Movement Updates
Mid-Boss has died…
Perfect Cell stalks among the fields, following the roads in search of a fight.
Agent HUNK staggers away from his fight, hunkering down in a shack to wait out the remainder of the storm.
Sigma angrily smashes his way through the trees and foliage of the increasingly boggy terrain, searching for a revenge target.
Darth Vader clings to life, staggering along the fields.
King has died...

Bulletins and Updates
  • The Easter Egg will go live with the next phase change.
  • As a reminder, please remember to list every space you are moving through and not just your final destination. I’ll send one reminder about this in the form of a “Please send in all your movements properly.” while not actually moving you, past that I just won’t move you.

Face-off
#005 Princess Bakugo & #020 Izuku Midoriya vs. #013 Sigma

Leaving the city behind them, the pair of mismatched ‘friends’ slowly pushed further and further into the swamp...and then, mercifully, out of it. Still humid and incredibly damp, especially with the rain, but no more constant risk of suddenly stepping into waist-deep bogs of mud.

In time, they reached a river...and on the far shore, there was a hulking figure slowly storming across the plains. Squinting across, Deku slowly developed a scowl...that quickly progressed into an angry grimace. The dark and rain made it hard to see clearly, but he was sure -- he was positive -- it was that bald jackass again. “Sigma…” he hissed.

Bakugo merely glanced at him, before following his gaze across the river. “Who’s that supposed to be? Another competitor?”

“I’ve run into him twice before… He’s pretty strong. Super arrogant and condescending, too…” Deku shook his head. “But I think I’ve got him figured out by now. We can take him down!”

“Just because he beat you doesn’t make him that strong!” Bakugo snarled, and she flexed her clawed fingers as sparks popped and sputtered dangerously. “You just sit back and watch, while I tear him apart!” And without so much as waiting for argument, she was off. Like a shot from a gun, explosion and all.

Sigma was caught entirely unprepared, as the literal fireball crashed into him. Explosive force staggered the reploid, leaving him wide open to the follow-up assault as a massive explosion crashed into him. Chicago Lightning joined the actual flashes of lightning in the sky as Princess Bakugo rained down hot lead upon her off-balanced foe.

Sigma scowled and staggered away, using his arms to cover and shield his face. He squinted and leered at the impudent little girl, snarling viciously. “You’ve made a big mistake, kid…” he growled. Sparks popped and fizzled from the countless gashes and tears in his armored frame, but he seemed entirely uncaring of them. He blurred aside with a shimmering trail of blue-green light in his wake, hurling a crackling barrage of lightning bolts at the explosive heroine, forcibly interrupting the assault raining down upon him.

In that moment, he produced the second prize given to him by this event, holding aloft a large mushroom. Red with white spots adorning it, black eyes like those of a doll staring haplessly out from its stem. And without further ado, the insane machine brought it down and chomped it in two.

The half that went into his mechanical innards took effect immediately. His entire body surged with a red light, and then a flashing rainbow hue enveloped him for a split-second before he swiftly grew in size, easily doubling his already prodigious bulk.

He cackled madly, stepping forward and stomping down with a colossal boot and making the very ground quake and the nearby river briefly overrun its banks. “I was saving this for a special occasion, brat...but I’ve had all I can take from obnoxious little upstarts like you on this island.” He struck out again, his speed not at all diminished in spite of his vast new size, and pummeled the ground in a vicious onslaught, stepping and lunging after Princess Bakugo with every frantic dodge and evasive maneuver she attempted.

It was getting close, and just when she could run no more...there was a sharp rattling clang. Chiming sounds, like frantic and off-beat music filled the air, slicing through the rain. Uplifting, inspiring, adrenaline-pumping.

A fierce light shone in Bakugo’s eyes, as they literally glowed in the dim light. Hazy purple energy flowed around her like flame, and she whirled around to face away from her foe as the titanic fist came crashing down…

...and impaled itself on the terrible spikes of her new shell.

With a surprised snarl, Sigma jerked his arm back. One of his fingers was crushed entirely, the two adjacent to it filled with puncture marks and spitting static. “What kind of trick...is this supposed to be?! I should’ve squashed you like a bug!”

“Kacchan!” Izuku Midoriya’s breathless voice shouted, as the youth sprinted beneath the huge reploid. In his eyes there was a clear message, as he stared at his ally.

For all her enraged scowling, and the way she slammed a crater in the ground with her tail, it was clear Bakugo understood it at least. She launched herself into motion with an explosive blast, and nearly collided with Midoriya as they engaged in a brief grapple...that ended with a very red-faded Deku spinning about and hurling the still freshly-crowned princess toward the skies.

Like a rocket she shot up, a maniacal grin plastered onto her face. Explosions danced and crackled in both palms as power built up rapidly, ready to do its job.

Sigma scowled menacingly and brought both arms up, ready to squash this pest between his hands...only for a sudden sound from below to break his intent focus.

“SMAAAAAAAAASH!” Midoriya’s entire body crashed into the immense mechanoid’s ankle, fist-first. Groaning and crumpling metal sounded, as the titan let out a surprised groan and toppled down to one knee.

“PISS OFF!” Bakugo snarled, and brought both hands up just as she crashed into Sigma’s face...and let loose with everything she had.

The explosion was tremendous, and for a brief instant blew the rain away from their battlefield.

Princess Bakugo fell out of the sky, landin sprawled on her back. Both arms were trembling and singed, fingers half-nerveless from putting out such a strong blast.

Sigman’s head was engulfed in smoke, and for a moment it seemed like he would endure even that attack...until there came a groaning shriek of metal and several huge chunks of shredded steel fell like rain. His huge frame creaked and leaned as it slowly but surely toppled over onto one side. Freed of the smoke, it was evident: his entire face, and most of the inside of his skull, was utterly destroyed and ruined, blown to shrapnel and scorched beyond recognition.

With a comical, 8-bit sound effect, his enlarged body shrank back to its normal size, and the remaining half of the odd mushroom rolled away from him.

Face-off
#004 Gollum vs #008 Perfect Cell

At a cliff overlooking the falls into the island's largest inland body of water, the newly-formed Perfect Cell stood with a proud grin on his face. “Yeees...at last. Victorious or not in the end, at least I managed to get something out of this putrid little contest.”

He hefted his arms, flexing his newly changed physique, and his grin only grew broader as the stretching, straining sound of his creaking bio-forged synth-flesh whined in protest. It was perfection incarnate; even his own body could barely contain itself with this fantastic new power coursing through it!

...of course, his jovial mood was short-lived. A low hissing sound drifted on the wind, lost among the pattering rain. And before Cell even realized what was happening, there was something upon him in a furious, feral pounce. Limbs like something human, but all skin and bones and far too small.

It shrieked and spit, one withered limb curling around the bio-androids throat with a sickeningly tight grip as another raised overhead, the moonlight flashing off the dull and rusted metal of a crowbar, and brought it down with a heavy crunch.

Again and again, with only wordless snarls and shrieks to accompany each swing, it came down, smashing and beating and breaking and crunching.

Cell writhed and snarled, lashing out at the feral whelp on his back, striking with clawed nails and firing ki bolts with wild abandon but failing to strike more than empty air. “You...little…!”

His temper finally grew to a boiling point, as his body coursed with power, purple lightning crackling over his form. ”Get off!” And a blast of violet light erupted with the sound of a lightning strike.

The pitiful creature clinging to his back shrieked in agony, both from the force of the energy as well as the sudden blinding glow as it was flung away.

The cliffside, too, shuddered and groaned as it ruptured and broke, giving way in a rumbling and echoing cascade of shifting earth and crashing down into the waters below.

16 Contestants Remain

Cell has suffered immense head trauma from a fierce crowbar beating (Minor Injury), and numerous grievous injuries from being caught in the collapsing cliff (Major Injury all together).
Gollum has suffered acute energy burns over most of his body (Major Injury) as well as being temporarily blinded (Story Injury), and been partially caught in the rockslide from the collapsing cliff (Minor Inury).

They sat amongst the wreckage in the rain with damp bodies but lifted spirits. Despite the now substantial roster of injuries they’d accumulated; Team BakuDeku had now triumphed in two combat scenarios as a duo and it felt good to win.

Despite that, there was an ominous feeling looming close that was hard to ignore. Part of it was the splintered metal husk of their fallen foe lying near, whose skull was strewn about a fifty yard area like morbid confetti. The other part of it was the looming knowledge that they couldn’t both leave this island. The Princess noticed Deku stealing glances at her from time to time, but was uncertain if he was weighing the odds of overcoming here in the final leg of the competition, or if he was sneaking glances at her feminine figure. Either way, it was disconcerting.

And between the two of them, there was a substantial chasm growing in terms of handicap. Deku’s arm was now a significant hindrance, but that wasn’t the only part of him that had taken a beating. While it had been Bakugo’s call to set up shop here and rest for awhile, it had mostly been a pity play called to keep her partner in some semblance of working condition. The last thing she needed on an island so death centric was to lug around dead weight.

She, on the other hand, was not doing too badly all things considered. After donning the crown, the bulk of her injuries had subsided into manageable discomforts. What had been a squished windpipe now felt like a throat irritation, busted up ribs now felt like some whiplash and bruising, and a fractured leg now felt stiff and sore but compliant. Even the most recent pummeling she’d taken from that robotic jackwagon had left her with little more than a sore back - and she couldn’t be totally sure that her back wasn’t just sore from carrying the weight of her team!

Cracking a smirk at her own internal monologue, Bakugo glanced over at Deku who seemed somewhere between exhausted and contemplative, and gave her tail a ‘thwap’ against the ground to gain his attention. It worked and Midoriya startled visibly, turned his head towards her, focused his gaze, then looked quickly at the ground with a blush.

“...the fuck’s your problem?” asked Princess Bakugo, haughty, and sounding perturbed that her opportunity to boast was smothered so quickly by her companion’s socially awkward body language. ...it was no fun to berate someone so visibly distressed already, as it turned out. “Ever since we met up you’ve been even weirder than usual.”

Deku shook his head, tight lipped, and then fumbled his way through his explanation. “I’ve, uh...I’ve just gotta focus! Gotta focus on gyros! It’s got nothing to do with your - you know. With you. And what happened to you. And your body. NOT THAT I’M THINKING ABOUT YOUR BODY. I mean, I noticed it, but I’m not thinking about it, and that’s what’s...I mean it’s NOT what’s...ugh, nevermind.”

Midoriya shifted on the ground and turned his back towards Bakugo, who, for her part looked equal parts affronted, perplexed, and irritated.

“...I need you…” began Princess Bakugo, rising up from the ground and rising up to her fullest and most imposing height. “TO GET YOUR FUCKING HEAD IN THE GAME!”

She snorted flame, nostrils flaring, and stomped noisily against the ground with her crown enhanced strength...with her good leg, of course. Deku jumped up, wincing at his injuries and clutching her defunct punching arm, then whipped around to face his partner’s tirade.

“You hear me, you fucking nerd!?” the Princess fumed, pointing an accusatory finger at Midoriya. “Whatever you’re pouting about, or being pervy about, you need to piss off with that shit and check back in, because I am NOT going to die on this island because of a mopey little pissant dragging me to my grave.”

She strode up to Midoriya and then past him, imparting him with a light punch to his battered arm as she passed.

“Cut out your shit. Now come on. We’re moving. We've got another Easter Egg to win.”

The artificial, crackling voice of the intercomms died away. Maybe it was the mire and the rain that warbled the sub-host's acoustics, perhaps it was the now galeing wind that battered the sides of the reactor plant. The warped simulacra grunted. It didn't matter, he reminded himself flatly, none of it mattered. Over and over again he told himself that. It didn't matter. That it had ever mattered in the first place, he was doomed to slip up eventually, his kill switch would fail, he would be trapped by his programming. Revenant pushed it all down, crushing and compressing his ever racing thoughts and worries into as small an experience as possible. He rolled his neck- a force of habit left over, a stubborn string of code he hadn't managed to override yet in all these years- and paced restlessly.

Pathfinder looked on, studying his companion in dismay. His antsy-ness had only become more apparent as the time without combat grew. "We're going to do great, friend! Don't worry about it."

The hitman's uncanny eyes slid past him, and for the first time stared right through him. "Yes.... friend." His whirring, deep voice leered- though with sincerity or scorn, Path cared little to question it. By this time he'd already learned that with Rev, you take the wins whenever you could, where ever you could. This was no exception!

The nightmare gave a hoarse, almost tired sounding huffing chuckle before pressing that button on the side of his collar. "We'll do just fine..."

After the rather depressing run-in with King, the Ghostly Duo had needed a win like that. In fact, as they left the devastated battlefield behind, neither of them could hide their elation, the Pokémon with a wide, mischievous grin and the undead with a upward-curved pupil. Even Anubis seemed in high spirits, the mental projection of the jackal-headed Stand pumping at the air with a fist.

"What'd I tell ya?" He 'said' with a doggish grin showing his tongue. "No better blade around than me! That jerk even used his to summon a pal, and we still whupped his ass!"

The Prisoner nodded in reply, though it was reminded of the daggers that still dotted its torso. For a moment, it seemed to contemplate removing them, but it wasn't like they really slowed it down any. And, perhaps, it thought it might have a use for them in the future. Unfortunately, Anubis also was drawn back to noticing them, and his grin turned to a frown.

"Hey! You need to take better care of my- I mean, your body! I can't believe you got THAT hurt with ME on your side!"

The Prisoner just shrugged in response; if it were suspicious of the Stand, it made no outward sign of it. Instead, it was startled by the sudden appearance of Gengar, the Pokémon sporting a new sword across his back. Earlier, he had decided that giving items which require lips to operate to someone without them would be a bad idea. The Prisoner, for its part, agreed, and had settled of accepting the hand-me-down Tetseiga from its companion.

"You alright there, pal? You keep… well, not really talking, I guess… but you seeing or hearing things? Didn't think you could, since you don't have a brain, but you've been acting weird. Even for you."

The corpse-candle shot a quick glance at Anubis' invisible form, then seemed to decide to just 'laugh' it off. Gengar, raised a brow at that, but decided not to press the issue. Instead, the two continued of their way towards the site of the new item drop.
