At 16:73:21:68 Medium Time, Govermorne was overwhelmed by a tremendous assault from a force of shadow and chaos, let by an unknown warship in orbit.
The shadows struck first at Ashport, preventing numerous ships from escaping, and quickly began to envelop the planet.
The planet's Arbiter sent some form of warning, according to eyewitness accounts from Dapplethain, where a large automated system overtook the central communications room and began sending evacuation notices across the planet.
Despite this effort, barely one in five hundred inhabitants are believed to have survived the initial strikes in sane mind. Of those that did, only a fraction made it to escape pods, and the exact numbers of survivors is yet to be counted.
Refugees are expected to begin flooding into every inhabited part of the system, and governments across the Crossroads are scrambling to respond.
Many corporations are reeling due to the loss of assets invested in the vast manufacturing capacity of Govermorne, now lost to the corruption. Reports from Wondertainment Toy Company and Cytokine Industries, the only two corporations to have released statements so far, suggest that efforts to fill the economic vacuum will be ruinous in the extreme.
Fear and panic has begun to spread at the sheer scale and speed of the assault, and many cities and towns are making sure to double down on law and order.
One vocal faction on Erde Nona, led by Leia Organa, has responded rapidly, pooling resources in order to purchase a vast amount of unused space habitats and aerospace equipment, launching them and assembling them into a vast vessel for rescuing the refugees still travelling in the Beyond. The Alliance to Restore the Crossroads, already advocates of unified cooperation between factions of the Crossroads, released a statement today that they would seek to resist and rebuke the forces that caused the Govermorne Calamity, and invite other factions to rally to their cause. No response has yet been heard.
Rumours state that an individual known as Darkseid is responsible for the Govermorne Calamity.
