This has been moved from Malloki's character profile! Feel free to ask your questions here!

Due to the potential "hiccups" and "what if's" associated with the Hex abilities and Living Voodoo, I will be offering a list of answers here to the more complex questions. Feel free to ask questions in Discord, and if they require a wordy answer that I don't want to have to give multiple times (or they are expansions of the questions here) I will add them to the Q/A!

Q: So, if Malloki is harmed, the person that harmed him is hexed, right? So what happens if he hurts himself? Like stubs his toe on a table or something? And what if someone, say, chops down a tree and it falls on him? What if it falls on a boulder that then falls on him? At what degree of separation does the Hex fail? And what happens if there's a freak accident that harms him? Like a lightning strike?

A: Fails after the 1st degree with intent. Says specifically "Attacker" so there has to be some intent to be an attack. Facepalm is an intended action, while stubbing one's toe is not. IE, if a tree is felled with the intent to hit him, person is hexed. Lumberjack just doing his job vs an unfortunately placed Malloki is not. Does not function after the 1st degree (such as the boulder pushed by the tree.)[/spoiler]

Q: Does it still work if, say, I place a trap that isn't intended specifically for Malloki? Or if it's an attack that hits multiple targets, one of which is Malloki?

A: Yes with AoE for sure. Even an Ally looking to deal damage to foes that clips Malloki. Though he does not create an AoE effect in return.

As for trap... I would say that while YES, if the trapper is far enough away it would just time out. Frenzy does not give one the ability to track Malloki.

To give an example of the trap application: Random man has set a bear trap in the woods with the intent to check on it in the morning. Malloki stumbles into it. Damage is taken, damage is dealt, Frenzy is inflicted, and the trapper gets mad at someone he has never met. He expresses it as mild fristration as he bandages up his leg, questioning why his healing factor failed but thirty seconds later he's calm and healing fine.

However: Trapper sets a snare and spring trap, looking to capture his game alive. Malloki gets caught and bashes his head on a rock as he's yanked off his feet and up. The rock was not a part of the trap, and damage was not intended, so Hex would not go off.

Q: If Malloki enjoys pain and dying, why does he still eat if it keeps him from dying?

A: Even if we assume starvation (and to an extent dehydration) had painful aspects that WOULD be confused as pleasure, would they be worth it? Short answer... no. Imagine a tickle fight. Really aggressive tickling, but short lived. Now imagine something gently tickling your neck for days. This, while funny at first, would become irritating white noise at best. That, coupled with the natural drive to eat and hydrate make starvation an ill-suited means of self-destruction.

Q: You mentioned when he dies, he may adapt to deal with what killed him. What if he starves to death during a fight? What if he doesn't die, but is incapacitated? What are the limitations?

A: Good questions. No. I don't EVER intend to remove the Finite nature of his healing. Infinite instant healing would be bad for storytelling. If he's incapacitated, there is no new ability gained. The limitations are theme-based. If I can't think of an ability to combat the means of his death, it's basically like a random failure to adapt. I may just add ranks to a pre-existing, relevant ability.

Q: Will Malloki's Protection always be null? A lot of attacks would be able to 1HKO him in that case.

A: That side effect will be removed in the event of a one-shot death. I foresee this eventually happening.

Q: What is with the diary?

A: While not a mechanical question... the diary is a form of disassociation where Malloki "Re imagines" the world slightly, usually seeing everything through rose-tinted glasses if you would. This is much like pleasure to pain, except on a mental level. Honestly, this is a quirk I don't know how to explain in actual psychology, it's sort of psuedo-science explination. Star Trek of psychology, if you will.

Q: What happens if someone never deals damage to Malloki?

A: "Well. This is awkward..."

Q: What is Voodoo damage exactly? Question two: do you intend to do anything more with it?

A: It's visually the same as whatever caused it via the Living Voodoo trigger, but it is its own type of damage. IE, it may LOOK like a burn from fire, but it would not bypass a shield that is limited to fire (though Hex: Pierce Defenses would still reduce its effectiveness overall.) A2: Yes.

These are some questions I've been asked, but feel free to ask more! Normally this is for mechanical questions, since some people seem to have a hard time figuring out exactly what I babble on about in Discord when it comes to his ability set.
