Character Name: Matsukaze Tenma

Character Source: Canon// Inazuma Eleven Go: Galaxies (taken point)

Starting Location: Erde Nona

Character Behavior:
Tenma is a Willful Breeze

He sees, and he see sometimes, more, about those around him than most thirteen-year olds do. Sees that people aren’t working with him, or sees that someone is hurt and does not sit there and wonder why. He does not sit by and watch. He taps, he knocks, he asks, but most importantly he moves and he reacts whether or not he should. Tenma does not really know how to stay still and that is only one part in which he is a breeze. He isn’t a fighter. He’s fought with his feet, though that’s different… and he has fought with blunt words because he understands and often not enough at the same time. Tenma is a breeze that blows in one direction, around obstacles, around his enemies and his allies. If anything can be said of Tenma he is always there, moving onward, but always there. Even if its awkward. Because he cares.

Except you can’t hold the wind, you can’t catch the breeze and Tenma for all his flaws, his stubbornness has never been held down for long. The wind doesn’t stop blowing against a wall because it is there. It wears it away. He’s there in the front, in the middle and the back, he’s with you the entire journey if you let him. The same breeze that plays with your hair will, given enough time… breakdown the wall if no one builds it back up. And every wall, thrown up, he wears it down, sometimes as a breeze, sometimes as a storm, because if there is one thing Tenma knows. Giving up? It might be easy, it might be right, but, it has never gotten anyone he knows… to a happier place.

Blood Type: O+
Height: 5'2"
Weight: 98 pounds

Tenma is a young teen that is approximately 5’2” in height. He is a fairly lean young man with an athletic build. He is fairly tanned, a given considering the long team practices outside in the sun. His most notable feature is his chestnut hair… which despite all attempts to tame it, manages to curl in on itself, creating two whirls on the top of his head along with protruding small wings at the side. His hair is just messy and impossible. The other noticeable feature besides his disaster of a hairstyle is that he has steel eyes, which considering all things clashes with the general softness of his facial features. His fashion style consists of… is it comfortable? Can you run in it? Can you most importantly, play soccer in it? If, yes, yes, and yes, then he’ll be wearing it. Is it yellow? Is it blue? Is it red? Yes and yes and yes. Though he’s fond of wearing his Inazuma Japan outfit.

Character History:

-----------------------------------------------------

Fire Tornado

-----------------------------------------------------

The moment when he first started liking Soccer was… easy to pinpoint.

It wasn’t really a gradual love.

It was also hard to forget.

When he was really, really little, as in maybe four or so, on a nice summer day after returning from the beach… he heard a puppy whimpering and crying nearby. But, it was such a sad sound that he slipped away from his mom trying to find the source of the sound… because it sounded really sad and hurt. The puppy wasn’t hard to find, it was stuck wedged between some boards in a beach shack. And the puppy almost wriggled free on his own, but, couldn’t quite get free so he went to go help it… except the sort of got caught in the mess too. Some boards fell loose and when he pulled the puppy out… well the entire stack leaning against the wall starting to fall on him. It wasn’t something that he really could forget.

He was maybe only four and the seeing a board bigger than the walls of house falling on him… well… he froze. Pretty much the only thing he did right was pull the puppy in towards him, because he was a bit bigger and he was going to probably get squished.

He didn’t get squished.

That might have been obvious.

It was because a kid bigger than him kicked the board falling directly on top of him out of the way with a soccer ball. His mother was hysterical. He was… safe. Because of soccer. He got to keep Sasuke, the puppy he saved, who was healthy. Because of Soccer in… hindsight.

It was more than enough reason to want to start learning about soccer and… well he grew to love it more, because when you love something it gives that love back. And maybe it was silly, but, he wanted to know more about the person who had left… right after saving him. And Soccer was a way to keep that connection too.

It was why he wanted to go to Raimon.

There was a distinct lightning bolt on the ball. It belonged to Raimon Jr. High, it was the symbol of the school and the town… though it was located out in the Kanto region. It was why he moved in with his cousin when he was nine even though he had to leave behind the beaches and well most people he knew. His friends. And he had a hard time making other friends.

Except he was hopeless, the other boys told him when he they realized that maybe he had no background in soccer.

It was a simple test, steal the ball from the defender and shoot a goal.

He couldn’t manage.

‘One more time!’

And he managed to steal the ball, but, he wasn’t actually thinking about it very hard, not when he heard his new friend scream and Sasuke growling. Aoi, Aoi had been nice enough to watch Sasuke and a nasty looking dog was growling at her. And maybe he had forgotten that he hadn’t really practiced shooting, but, it worked out somehow with the ball smacking the back of the feral dog’s head with the help of a lamp post. And maybe he had wasted his last attempt to get on the team, but, he it was a fleeting disappointment.

He’d get better, he’d work harder.

Because in the end, it’ll work out somehow.

Because right now, Soccer had given him both Sasuke and Aoi. And Aoi tried to help him make a soccer club, and Aoi was his friend who didn’t laugh at the fact he really really liked a flame striker from Raimon. And maybe sort of wanted to emulate him. Or that he loved Soccer, or anything… let alone his dream of playing soccer with the Raimon Jr High Soccer club… even when he was so very far away.

And Aoi came with him to Raimon

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And all he was good at was dribbling.
He got better.
He was on a team
One that eventually came to like him.
And playing soccer. Real soccer, instead of the matches predetermined, the strange arenas and the threats… and the blackmail?
And then they lost it to time.
And now… and now?
He stood at the world stage.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

>Killer Fields

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Eleven of them against the world! It was a dream come true… and he couldn’t wait to see who was selected! It could really be anyone! Though maybe he should have been just a bit more nervous? He didn’t think anyone would mistake his excitement as confidence that he’d be on the team… but, ummm apparently that was a thing.

It just was… everyone had a chance, there were really strong and amazing players on all the national teams and no matter what had happened on the field during Holy Road… he knew that they loved Soccer too.

Even if he didn’t get on the team, he wanted to see how everyone had gotten stronger, because they would, he knew it. To not reach for the world, to not fight for that position, well, it was unfathomable.

Everyone had trained really, really hard for the chance and … and Raimon was a strong team. He knew how hard they had trained, he was there after all right along with them for the same chance and same hope. So it was obvious to him, of course. And it was strange to think that he was a national champion still… they had won the Holy Road, but, so much had happened that it seemed so distant and… a lot of time passed. That was then, and now was well now? He had doubted that their competition had just let up on their own training… it was open season for the internationals and the best got in. And he was pretty sure, ummm that… well the whole time warping and travelling probably didn’t count in their favor. Honestly, he wasn’t even sure how any of the couches could explain what had exactly happened, and it wasn’t like he could either, at least not well. .

‘Inazuma Japan’s Captain, Matsukaze Tenma. Shindou Takuto. Tsurugi Kyousuke….’

Oh that was a relief… he actually got on the team…. Wait, he was captain, wait, wait… wait? Something was off about this team? He really liked soccer, and, umm… of course he couldn’t know every player, but he didn’t recognize a single one of his new teammates. There was no one else from Raimon. He didn’t recognize them from the nationals. There must have been a reason the rest were chosen, right?

It was hard to tell himself that when Shinsuke congratulated him, when Kirino was staring at the ground… and Nishiki was closing his eyes as if in pain. Pain, because it was no one else they knew. Because there weren’t any words to say. He wasn’t a genius …. and he was maybe the captain for Raimon, but, they chose him. This was different.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

They weren’t moving up. That was okay… it was a new team, they weren’t… going to move fluidly.

They ignored captain – Shindou, ignored his commands from God’s Baton. When he asked them from his heart to listen, even though he knew capta- Shindou had reservations.

Their defense tried to punch the ball. Maybe, he played Goal Keeper primarily?
Another member of their defense was on the ground and it made him concerned, but… she was just scared, right? It was what she said.
One of their new midfielders guillotined another player, if that was the right word, one of the Teikoku’s members and fouled another two.

… It was like…

When their goalkeeper blocked the shot and started dribbling the soccer ball… it was kind of hard to ignore that the answer was that probably most of their team were not actually soccer players. One of the mentioned it ,but… he didn’t believe it. There had to be a reason, but… it ended in disaster.

They scored one point, because, he was too stubborn and rude as he dragged what remained of Raimon to make one goal even with the booing, because, it was too hard to just… leave it there. It hurt. More than the empty cup that hit his foot at their less than stellar performance. His friends were hurting. Even Teikoku, their opponents were displeased with the match.

Soccer must be in pain too.

And he still didn’t know what to say to Cap- Shindou as he cried.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

>Devil Burst

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

He was just glad that they were practicing and here early, it was… great actually! It didn’t matter if they weren’t practicing the right way or anything, the rest of his new team was here and maybe… maybe it will be alright. With enough hard work. Just maybe… just maybe this might work.

Matatagi Hayato, sprinter. Nozaki Sakura, Rhythmic Gymnastics. Tetsukado Shin, Boxing. Kusaka Ryuuji… nothing? Ibuki Munemasa Basketball, ummm the dribbling made sense now. Manabe Jinichirou… nothing, a bit ummm… arrogant. Soccer wasn’t something you just mastered, but something you love and work together to improve on. Minaho Kazuto… the ummm brains? Morimura Konoha… no sports at all.

He couldn’t blame Shindou, it was shocking. They were the only three soccer players, and four members of their team already had no professed background in any sports… but there had to be a reason. Even if they didn’t know what it was.

Honestly, he wasn’t sure if he was going about this the right way. There was spirit though!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

‘Coach please redo the selections’

But… it wasn’t enough, or maybe he was a bad captain… for this team at least. The only explanation coach gave them was that their new team members had potential. It was their job to draw out that potential… but, he didn’t know how. And it wasn’t a sufficient explanation for Shindou. He could understand his feelings, but… he knew that they couldn’t play on the world level with just three players. Tsurugi was an amazing forward, but, he couldn’t take on an entire team… he had tried once. Shindou was a genius, but, to cover all the defense… and he wasn’t exactly sure how he was going to be the sole midfielder. And somehow, he was going to pull this together. They were!

Because maybe there was hope after all, Matatagi was still practicing.

There was hope because he was sure that he felt an interest, at least maybe in learning and everyone was working, even if they most of them were at the beginner level.

Ibuki challenged Tsurugi… though Shindou would be the one to shoot against him… neither was happy about the arrangement… yet, neither was backing down.

There was something there he was sure of it. Something fierce.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

‘I sense nothing”

They all improved, but not enough to challenge other teams on the world stage. It was hard to argue against that. He wanted to believe, and he did, it was just the words weren’t coming out. Please, let us fight as a team, they might not be strong enough… and he knew that it hurt all of them, the choice in representatives. They all had bleed for this….

He understood.

And he believed, he had seen the team’s attempts and they were trying and he wasn’t going to just throw that away either. He didn’t think that was what a captain should do.

It was why it hurt so much more when he found out.

That they had been hired. Everyone was on a contract, they were here because it afforded them some great boon to their families or personal career.

It hurt. And he didn’t understand. Because this couldn’t be real.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

>God Wind

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

They were on the world stage. Against Korea.

It was why they needed to act like a team. To be a team. And he wanted them all to be a team so much even if it hurt. Except Shindou was right, it was really just the three of them. It was almost impossible to bring the ball up with just the two of them though. And so when he went tumbling he pushed himself back up. And even though he had taken a bad fall, he couldn’t help, but smile when Matatagi extended his help. Matatagi might have been under contract, but, maybe something got through.

‘Please teach me how to play Soccer. I know it isn’t something you ask during a game…’

If you love soccer, soccer shows its love back. It was something he told Matatagi when he asked about Hissatsu. He liked Matatagi, he worked hard and he was really really fast. So maybe, this can work… and it was what he was hoping for. And so … of course! Almost any time is a good time to learn soccer. Especially if you don’t know in the beginning on the … uhh… world stage.

It was the push they needed, the team was starting to come together, manage something, build something together. Except, none of them would pass to Matatagi. There was no callouts to Matatagi who was able to bring the ball up the field quickly. They would disappear when he got trapped.

The stupid wallet.

They were squabbling over the stupid wallet, because Matatagi had stolen something. It was in the past. And nobody was getting over it. And it was stupid. He couldn’t make people believe Matatagi, and it was costing them any chance of taking the game. And they wouldn’t listen to him. And Matatagi was running himself ragged, making openings for passes and they were ignored, his efforts were ignored.

As far as he was concerned as long as you stood together on the same field you were a friend, because what is the point of playing soccer if you can’t even trust your teammates.

‘Captain”.
And when they finally, finally saw, when Matatagi brought him the ball that was passed to him, he was going to score. He wouldn’t accept any other result.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

> Z – Slash

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It’ll be fine. It will be, because, even though… they didn’t come here for Soccer, everyone fought hard in the match.
They were a team now, they had managed to be a team somehow.

They had won as a team and it was rough, but that meant something. It meant, it had to mean that they were willing and maybe… maybe they would learn to love the sport just a little bit. He could do this, they could do this, they could all become Japan’s representatives. It wasn’t impossible, there was a team here.

Except, only two people showed up to practice the next day.

He found out that their contract stated that… only practice until the first match was won was mandatory. That all members were free to do so as they wished. And the coach allowed this… and he should go get the others, because… because… maybe he could convince, them talk to them. Understand? Understand… why?

And he took heart that even with the contract that Matatagi and Nozaki showed up. They didn’t have to, but, they did, and maybe that meant that they were opening themselves up to soccer and maybe even…ummm well at least they were talking with him. If Nozaki played in Inazuma Japan, she would be able to study abroad in the world’s best rhythmic gymnastic’s gym. And he knew what Matatagi was getting out of the contract… but… he couldn’t help himself.

‘But from our last game, I guess I might find Soccer a bit fun’

It made him happy. Really happy, he couldn’t explain how much it made him happy, even to hear that smallest concession, because… well actually it always made him happy. And she loved Rhythm Gymnastics… he wasn’t going to take that away from her, and she liked to talk about it! So maybe, they could combine the two, and then! And then! He just wanted to work hard with everyone, and wanted to show her just how cool soccer was just how she was showing him how cool her gymnastic ability was.

For once practice felt like true practice. He was happy… if only… if only the others joined too.

So, he asked them to just come to practice, not to participate even, just… to please watch.
It was a plea to give Soccer a chance, not even to like it, just not to hate it.
Yet, nobody else came.
So naturally, he went to go find them!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tetsukado, he didn’t know much about boxing, but, he tried… because everyone on his team was from different sports and they must love them. They were probably freaks like him, well he was a soccer freak! And, he might not know much about boxing, but, he wasn’t lying that he thought that it seemed like fun. Throwing punches, guarding, using mind games against each other…he was more partial to his feet, but to keep standing had to take heart and will and… love of the sport. There were differences between the two sports… but, maybe they could work on what he liked together.

‘Don’t talk to me about boxing ever again!’

That was pain… and he went about that all wrong didn’t he?

It was hard to find Kusaka. He had to ask folks in town.

Very few of them had anything good to say about Kusaka. He was… something of a thug. And if he didn’t have to find Kusaka, he would have some choice words for them, because even if they didn’t know each other well Kusaka was his teammate, his senior.

‘Thanks for the invite, but, honestly I wish you’d leave me alone.’

The direct approach didn’t work either… though at least Kusaka didn’t run away from him… so that was maybe progress.

And next time he asks, politely, when he finds Kohana in a zoo.

It doesn’t go any differently, just how, it unfolds is a bit… more unusual… it isn’t aggressive… it isn’t annoyance, it is something far worse.

‘It won’t matter if I come or not.’

Somehow it is far worse than the glare Kusaka gave him in his blunt honesty.

‘Soccer can be fully analyzed through calculations.’

Manabe, wants a more interesting set of equations that he can work on… and he can’t give him that because what makes Soccer fun to him can’t be calculated with numbers. The reason he loves it. It is more than an equation and he can’t prove it… it is more of an experience, but, Manabe wouldn’t move from the equation he has on his laptop. Not that it doesn’t follow an equation or some equations, but… he just didn’t have the words.

And it wasn’t much different with Minaho, but, at least he acknowledges that there is a human component to Soccer. It isn’t much better though. It isn’t ruled just by emotions, it is more than that. And again he doesn’t have an argument that would hold water against someone like Minaho. It isn’t something that can be immediately observed. It is a feeling, but, he is sure Minaho hasn’t felt it yet… or if he has he hasn’t really looked at it.

‘Humans have emotions. Soccer is played by those said humans. Their emotions create openings.’

It is a failure. He is absolutely sure this is what one calls a failure.
But, tomorrow is a new day!
He just can’t give up can he?
No, apparently not....

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kaazana Drive

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

He does. Give up. Because there isn’t time for that. Coaches’ orders

The coach was right about that… the second match of the preliminaries wasn’t far off… and he could barely get anyone to come to practice. But… did they really have to do this?

It took him a few tries to write the email, then a few more times to actually send it. Just like coach instructed him to do.
Tomorrow, they would be deciding who could drop out of the team.

They would be holding the trial for withdrawal from the team and the truth was he didn’t sleep well last night. He couldn’t. Because maybe there was something he could have done. And he wants to hope, but, it is harder than normal.

Somehow, just maybe meddling in the hundred-year war seemed easier than being captain of this team.

‘You made that up, to get everyone to come here, right?’

If only. He… didn’t like the idea at all.

And the contract would be fulfilled if the withdrawal exam was passed… and of course anyone who passed could naturally leave the team. It was a test that didn’t make any sense, a non-traditional penalty kick match. One on one with no goalie to guard the goal and to pass… they just had to miss all five shoots. Those that didn’t wish to leave wouldn’t have to take the exam… but, the coach must have something in mind it was just too strange and there must have been a lot of work pulling together all these players.

‘You probably wouldn’t understand Captain. But maybe ignorance is bliss.’

The answer was… he didn’t? Was he… being selfish? He understood that mostly everyone was contracted into the team, but, he didn’t think he was crossing any boundaries. Or trying to force people into crossing boundaries… and… nothing he said seemed to reach anyone. Leaving the team wasn’t something the rest of Inazuma Japan was going to regret.

It hurt.

Maybe, there had been something else he could have done. He didn’t know what, but, there probably was something. Time had run out and everyone had made their decisions.

It’ll work out somehow.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It didn’t work out.

Possibly because of this little fairy… creature…? It was fluffy and yellow and tiny and flying and it was trying to him something, probably, it was really friendly. He had to have been asleep, but, he wasn’t in his room… it wasn’t anywhere he recognized. Just that he was underground somewhere and… the interior motif matched? So he might have been down under… the camp? With a lot of machinery… none of it made sense, and it was kind of like being in a sci fi film… why was it down here?

And then he wasn’t. He wasn’t underground, he wasn’t under the camp with way too many flashing lights and instead in a green desolate desert with a sharped eared girl… made of light. Who keep… disappearing. And then there was the cave, it was… it looked a little bit like a volcano cave? As in the rocks were so red and bubbly and looked like maybe they were inside on fire, though flickering. Then there was the stone, and it broke before he touched and… then there was the fairy again, except… it wasn’t a dream? He could feel the fur and … then had his hair pulled by it?

It was a weird dream.

Ended by a high-pitched screech, his own screams, a lot of light, the sound of pistons pounding, and a distinctly lit green button… and then him landing on grass?

Yeah.

It didn’t work out.

Abilities/Skills:

Base Level Capacity: Physical Conditioning (500)

Agility Rank 1 (200 E)
Speed Rank 1 (200 E)
Endurance 1 (100 E)

Tenma is a naturally agile and speedy young boy, which is to be expected as a young athlete chosen to participate on the world stage. Physical conditioning reflects the known feats that he has achieved as a result of training and extreme conditions. Short bursts of movement from Tenma have been known to generate a breeze or wind.

Spiral Draw Rank 1 (75)

Protection (100)
Modification: Weakness (-25 - Does not protect from any range, only functional at melee range)

Total cost per rank (75)

"Smash into your foe like a tornado and then whisk the ball away."

Smash into your foes not like, as a tornado, but instead an actual a small twister. It’s not inherently harmful, but, it does protect Tenma from fast winds. It also has the added benefit of making him hard to touch in melee range. Except, it’s only useful for protecting him in close range.

Aggressive Beat Rank 1 (100)

Debuff (100)
Total Cost per Rank (100)

“Turn up the bass, and send your opponent sprawling with sound waves.”

More like basic sound manipulation that increases the sound of one’s heartbeat… it is unusual and the suddenness of the sound wave is enough to make most people pause or disorient them for a second. Which creates an opening.

Kazaana Drive Rank 4 (600)

Variable Creation 4 (800)
-Indiscriminate (-200)

"Create a wind tunnel and run right over your opponent's head!"

Tenma is capable of creating a wind tunnel that he runs through, though primarily glides through to reach his destination. It covers a fair amount of distance and allows him to move quickly across the field. Or anywhere. He is capable of moving at least eight feet. Naturally the wind-tunnel he creates does not discriminate between friend and foe. I t is a force of nature.

Soccer Ball (100)

Damage 1 (100)
Ranged (50) Removable (-50)

Total Cost: (100)

A surprisingly durable soccer ball from home. Kick it really hard. As Tenma has no other combat related skills, taking away the soccer ball, removes his only method of dealing damage. Other than the normal scratching biting and kicking.

220

Pixie (Yet to actually be named) Rank 1 (250)

A strange small creature that can ignore gravity and seems to be weirdly affectionate or attached to Tenma. It seemingly hatched in Tenma’s dream and may have simultaneously been the medium through which Tenma probably arrived. It doesn’t seem happy with the situation either and right now does not seem interested in others. Despite its diminutive fluffy appearance, the creature is clearly highly intelligent. As a result, this little creature comes and goes. It might hang out around Tenma for prolonged periods of time, but he has no control over it… and it tends to just disappear even for days even if it does eventually return to him. It seems to communicate primarily by action and body language.

Summon (300)
Modifiers Chaotic (-50) = Willful Summon

Total cost per rank (250)

Pixie’s Abilities

Pixie Flight rank 1 (300)

Flight (200)
Modification: Ongoing (100)

Total Cost per rank (300)

Pixie seems to have the ability to fly without wings… and while spends a significant portion on the ground or on something or someone, it also can hover in midair. Pixie isn’t exactly a fast flier though…

Dream Trip rank 1 (50)
Communication (100)
Modification: Limited (-50) = Sleep Only

Total cost per rank (50)

Pixie’s form of communication with Tenma… and no it doesn’t seem to be particularly interested in talking to anyone else with this method. It is able to enter dreams and change the dream into a scene or a place it wants to talk about. While it isn’t talking, it turns dreams into its own little show. The issue? Pixie’s dream communication feels incredibly real. It makes telling the difference between reality and a dream a nightmare, which is why arguably Tenma remember his conversations. It can be extremely disorienting and naturally… vague. Naturally, this only works if Tenma is sleeping.
