New Character Name: Lysundren

Is this character an OC or a Canon character? Original Character

Starting Location? Erde Nona

Character Behavior
Snarky Sorcerer – Lysundren is no shrinking violet. He is sarcastic, brutally honest and never misses a chance to be a smart arse or interject his own opinion. He doesn’t care much for other people’s feelings though he doesn’t (generally) go out of his way to hurt them – he’s more apathetic to it. He also has a thirst for knowledge of any kind and yearns to learn how just about anything works.

Lysundren’s combat skill is exclusively magic-centred. With untold years of practice and execution of sorcery, he keeps his distance from enemies while using an array of spells to disable or kill. In almost all other disciplines of battle he is useless.

Physical Description:

Lysundren is tall and lean, with long black hair in a ponytail. His piercing purple eyes glow softly. His narrow face is shaven with predominant cheek bones. He wears a black cape that shimmers with red, blue and purple depending on the light, and he can draw it to cover his entire body.

Lysundren wears a crimson tunic with a golden half-sun on the front, representing his order. A deep blue sash acts as a belt. Dark red, loose pants tuck into black leather boots that rise to the knees, and he dons loose fitting black leather gloves to the elbows.

Character History:

Lysundren grew up poor in one of the harbour-communities on Opealon. He spent many nights waiting tables and sweeping floors in his father’s shabby inn, where he saw a variety of characters come and go – many seafarers and even pirates would stop for rest and provisions. He would often eavesdrop, becoming enraptured by the stories of freedom and enterprise on the high seas.

One night, a grizzled man claiming to be a pirate entered the inn. He offered a necklace with an uncut gem as his payment – the gem’s multifaceted surface changed colour from red to a pale blue to a deep black depending on the angle it was viewed from. Lysundren’s father scolded him for believing in the tall tales of the patrons but he was hooked by the story that went with the necklace.

Apparently the pirate had found it among a pile of booty long since spent. The artifact had supposedly magical properties, but after fifteen years he had given up on ever unlocking them. There was a good chance the pirate was making up the story, or simply put too much faith in myths and legends. In any case, Lysundren’s desire for the fantasy to be real overrode his common sense and he accepted the pendant as payment.

Having uncovered his foolish son’s bargain, Lysundren’s father kicked him out of the inn and onto the streets. Lysundren had to learn fast how to grift and steal to get by, and he took to it easier than he thought he would. He tried to join crews out on the seas but few were hiring labour when they stopped in, and his lack of experience often ruled him out. Instead, Lysundren worked on becoming a great thief.

Soon, the pendant he still kept with him reacted, and magic suffused his mind and body. While he loved the art of stealing, he found himself intoxicated with the abilities that mana provided him. For a time he combined his two loves, pilfering a small fortune by casting spells to make him invisible, or to overwhelm guards with pure arcane might.

However without any tutelage, his skills only went so far. He was also growing tired of the endless ocean world. Spending time in taverns, Lysundren eventually discovered other worlds in the sphere of the Crossroads, and travelled to Erde Nona where he could further his studies in magic.

He fell in with a group of talented sorcerers in training, and found that with instruction, his latent aptitude for magic rose to the surface. Soon the group was known as the Council of Five, and furthered the very understanding of magic in Erde Nona.

In time, a great evil arose to threaten the land. Together they wiped out the armies of the foe but the leader was also highly adept in sorcery. Their battle was long and shattered the landscape. Eventually, Lysundren performed a spell he had hoped to never use – one that stole the connections to the Manastream of his four other brethren and gave them to him, vastly increasing his power. The act, unfortunately, killed them.

Lysundren was successful at defeating the evil one, and as an act of spite, also stole his Manastream link as well, further bolstering his connection to the source of magic. After killing the enemy, Lysundren didn’t reveal what truly happened, instead saying that his friends that had fallen had done so in heroic service to their lands (which was true, from a certain point of view, but Lysundren didn’t elaborate).

Haunted by his traitorous but necessary actions, Lysundren resolved to build a new magical order – The Ancient Dawn – to help spread the knowledge that he and his friends had uncovered. As the years went on, he found he did not age, and he continued to tutor.

An uprising in The Ancient Dawn, born of a student’s greed for more power and control, almost destroyed everything Lysundren had worked for. After he had quelled the rebellion, he tore the castle out of the earth and transported it to an overhanging cliff by the ocean, where it hovers in place today. Protected by view from invisibility glyphs, he cut himself off from the rest of the world, becoming much more selective about who joined his order.

Believing only he had true understanding of the importance of magic, Lysundren expanded The Ancient Dawn’s operations. While continuing to train new sorcerers, he began watching over all off the Crossroads, developing a spy network that kept him in the loop of all the important happenings. Where it could be done surreptitiously, he sent sorcerers of his order to stop catastrophes, help people recover from disasters, and nip unwanted or unproductive dissent in the bud.

Thousands of years have passed, and still Lysundren and his order are unknown to the Crossroads.

However, the time in anonymity may be over with the arrival of the Unmade…

Hey there! Really interesting character concept. I appreciate the amount of consideration you've but into you character's background, I feel like this will be a really neat OC to read more about. I have just a few notes here for you, with a minor change to one of your Abilities.

For your Character History -- Please keep in mind that the castle you mention in your character's history cannot function the same as an actual base before you purchase it with Coin.

For "Lightning Blast" -- Please mention your modifiers in your description. I would say Affects Multiple and Indiscriminate specifically must be mentioned/described.

Other than that, your character switch is approved! I will update your username and Coin right away, feel free to post your Character Profile at your leisure.
