Giselle backed away in horror. What had started out as a romantic anniversary dinner had taken a wild turn after Lucien had opened his heart up to her. He had finally gotten the courage to come out as a Werewolf and his past. How he had been bitten during a patrol and almost died. How he miraculously got better and survived.

It was a bad call.

The look of terror on Giselle’s face as she backed away from Lucien tore at his heart. She frantically looked around for a weapon but saw nothing she could use. Lucien stood from the table and removed the napkin from his lap, wiping his face.

“Stay away from me, dog!” The woman had ripped the cross hanging from the wall and was holding it between them.

“I shouldn’t have told you.”

“What so you could keep playing this charade!? So you could keep pretending to love me!?” She was yelling at him.

Through a cursory glance he could see the lights of other trailers in the camp turning on. It was kind of late for shouting to be occurring. Giselle had been out all day and he had prepared her favorite meal for their special day. He had put together a photo collage of the year they had spent together in Malakai’s camp. Lucien felt completely defeated. He did not know why he expected a different response. He loved her and he honestly thought she loved him back. That she could see past the fact that he was a werewolf and love the man inside. That is what Lucien hated about his gift. He only wanted people to like the human side of him. He wanted people to love that side of him. He hated how everyone could not see past the werewolf.

“It wasn’t a charade, Giselle! I love you!” He fired back, now upset.

“How could I have loved such a monster?”

That hurt. A lot.

“You see me as a monster?” He asked. “After a whole year of spending nearly every day together. Your snap judgement is that I’m a monster?”

They had been trying to have a baby.

This was not going well.

“You’re this mutant wolf thing! It sickens me to my very core that I ever let you so close!”

“Giselle? Is everything okay?” A voice from outside asked.

She swung the door to the trailer open and fled outside to the handful of men who had gathered to investigate the shouting in the living area.

“He tried to force himself on me! On our anniversary!”

This elicited some incredibly angry grumbling from the men outside.

This just went from bad to worse.

“Lockwood! Come out now!” A voice called. It was Viktor.

The werewolf turned to the table he had so meticulously prepared and downed both her glass of champagne and his. Something that was awfully expensive in the desert. With a sigh he held his hands up and made his way down the steps of the front door and into the gathering crowd.

“Did you try to hurt, Giselle?” Viktor asked.

“He did! He did! Thank god I got away!”

Why she was not exposing his secret to the entire clan was a complete mystery to him. Maybe she thought they would not believe her. The only person in the camp who knew was Malakai and his only rule was to never transform or act like a wolf. He even kept a high caliber revolver always loaded with silver rounds on him.

“I did not touch her. We were having our anniversary dinner and she…” He motioned towards the trailer. “She just started freaking out. I have no idea why she is upset. I would never hurt her.”

“He’s lying!” She yelled through tears. “He even choked me! Look!” She began exposing her neckline for the women to examine.

God dammit woman. Your kink is going to kill me.

Lucien had no choice, but to punt.

“That was consensual.” He argued.

“She let you choke her?” Viktor said, inching closer with his shotgun.

Lucien nodded.

“I find that hard to believe, Lockwood. Giselle is a good faithful woman. Why would she ever consent to such a thing?”

Good fucking point. Why did she?

Lucien eyed the guns now being brandished around him. “Look…”

“I swear to you. I did not touch her. All I did was cook her favorite dinner. I was going to ask her to marry me.”

“Marry you!?” Giselle shouted. “You’re nothing but a monster!”

There was no way to sell this. Malakai was out of town and Viktor was in charge. He was not exactly reasonable. He made his decisions based on the emotion he was currently feeling at the time. Giselle was now being comforted by all the wives and all the husbands were now cornering him at the door to his home.

“I can show you the ring.” Lucien said as he reached for a pocket.

“Hands where I can see them, Lockwood.” Viktor pumped his shotgun and primed a round before leveling the weapon to Lucien’s face.

“Just…let me show you the ring.” Lucien said, confidently.

He reached his right hand to his pocket which made Viktor place the barrel of his gun nearly to his forehead. The werewolf withdrew the ring box and flipped it open with one hand. He had sourced enough money during one of their runs to buy the diamond and he had built the ring himself out of scavenged gold.

Julius took the ring from Lucien’s hand and showed it to Viktor who did not budge.

“It proves nothing. You could have had the ring on you the whole time as a defense.”

Yep. Start calculating an exit, Lockwood. Divert the violence away from the women. Use the buildings as cover and grab a horse to flee toward Uruk.

“I don’t know how else to prove to you that I didn’t lay a hand on her. I told you she wanted me to choke her. She likes that in the bedroom.” Lucien pleaded.

“Liar!” One of the women yelled from the back. “You just wanted to hurt her!”

This was so bad it was comical. To the camp they were just a perfect and easy-going couple who loved spending time with each other. Several of the men knew he was going to propose, but none of them were speaking up in his favor. It was their secret life that was being used as fuel for this fire. In the bedroom Giselle had been a wildfire. She wanted all this kinky stuff done to her. He had asked her again and again if she really wanted to do some of it and she was always giving him permission.

“I did not hurt her!” Lucien said through a clenched jaw.

This is getting ridiculous.
