It has been a year since the Siege of Markov happened and the Fade was successfully pushed back away from the city. An all-out defense between not only the outworlders from the other planets, but natives as well, and among the one that stands out was the mysterious Azure vigilante herself.

Since then, the repairs had been made and cleanup efforts were running smoothly albeit there had been some issues with the hostile creatures around to which was promptly dealt with by the security forces but several were handled by her if things were to get too dangerous. After all, several of the civilians were surely grateful of her presence even for as mysterious as she is for even when she was there to deliver quick justice against a threat, she was gone the second after.

Many people seem to fancy giving her nicknames but the fact was that she was doing it for a personal reason, no means of a gain or anything, that was just how it is.

Meanwhile, In the midst of traversing the city, Blade had been picking up some strange abnormalities from within the power grid along with reports of surges and blackouts as of late which could pose a risk to various communities. Additional sources added that various pet stores had been missing kibble food as of late and that was something new.

However, for some reason, she found that as oddly specific as the creatures that attacked the city before weren’t that interested in food but.. who or what would be the source of the abnormalities?

Blade wandered for a bit as she was traversing in silence as her cloak and hair flowed in the breeze as small sparks left her soles while looking around, observing circumstances as memories came settling in of the siege like it was yesterday.

She did remember seeing a certain group of creatures that came to her aid when she was being overwhelmed after dealing with some obstacles in her way from earlier as she was rushing through the city's alleyways. Small and yellow, fierce as they were and just as capable of manipulating electricity as her. However, they looked wild for some reason and by being around some creatures in the city, it was easy to tell.

However, that was long ago, as she shook her head to refocus her attention. There was multiple factors to this and she needed more evidence before making a conclusion and it wouldn't be long as she would eventually slow down before stopping with a notable skid.

She could sense that there was no electricity flowing in this portion of the city especially when this was where one of the power plants were located.

As it would seem that she had arrived at a good time because judging by things, this seemed to had recently happened as earlier, this place was practically flowing with electricity and before long, she would cautiously walk towards the destination for a closer look and moreso, on full alert.

Although Pikachutwo and his squad had gone through great effort to conceal their tracks and spread out their incursions into Markov, there was only so much that they could do, and their presence would inevitably be noticed by someone who connected the dots. As in this case, Blade had done.

Electric outages in some locations, cut cables, break-ins into stores where the registers were untouched but the non-perishable foods were looted. The actual damages were relatively minor, save for the alarm systems fried by electric surges, and most people had bigger fish to fry given the Unmaking that loomed over their heads. But looking in the correct places, following the correct tracks and ruling out impossibilities led Blade to a ruined part of Markov.

It was a collapsed building, formerly a giant of concrete and metal, likely destroyed during the Siege. It was a high-rise apartment or office skyscraper before having fallen. Now, only the first two floors still stood, and even they were mostly inaccessible given the big chunks of concrete that had been walls before and now formed a jagged hill-like structure. One that any official would tell Blade to stay far away from given the risk of collapse. But it was where the tracks led, and while unassuming from the outside, closer inspection showed that much of the debris had been moved out of the way, or to cover cracks and openings. The ruin had been turned into something akin to a fox burrow.

There was also a Stop sign, no longer useful for traffic, marking a short path leading to an entrance beneath all that debris - a tight squeeze for an adult, but a child might crawl through - and a poster that had once said “Keep calm and watch out for dangers”, with most of its writing smudged out. Now the only legible words were “Keep” and “out”. Both the sign and the poster flanked the entrance to the path.

Of course, the intruder had not gone by unnoticed. As Blade came closer, two heads popped up from a windowsill on the first floor, their yellow fur plainly visible against the grey concrete even though they were dirty, scruffy and covered in concrete dust. Another one came out through the entrance under the concrete. And there was skittering to her right, as yet another two cat-sized yellow rodents climbed out of a tunnel under the concrete, flanking her. All of them had menacing glares in their beady black eyes.

The one that had come out of the entrance tapped the wall where the “Stop” sign was propped up, and let some electric jolts crackle over his body to underline his order with a threat. ‘Leave. Any closer and you’ll get zapped’, he wanted to say. But the humans did not understand their words. In Markov, they were alone.

As for Blade, some things became evident: these were no regular animals. Taking their boss’s electric display aside, the speed at which they’d appeared and how they flanked one side but left an escape open was too coordinated for pack tactics. And judging from the skittering to her left and the shadowed shapes observing from the entrance, there were more of them in hiding. Pikachutwo was showing his hand as a threat, but the intruder did not need to know that three of his men were too injured to fight and two more were running low on juice.

It was the Pikachutwo and while she could see one of them were threatening her, she did not move any future especially given the circumstances that she had found herself in.

However, even from behind the mask, Blade's eyes widened in surprise for a bit before she calmed down.

"Wait, you're the creatures that assisted me in the protection of the city while it is under siege." Blade spoke softly despite the display of hostility the creature had for her. "I've never got to properly thank you."

Her tone was calm but also direct as well, given the circumstances, though she was curious.

"However, I can't let you be running around the city like this because people will get hurt. There had been rolling electrical issues and food had been missing as well."

She didn't want to come off as harsh but reasonable as she wanted to ensure that the creatures aren't hurt either. She actually felt bad for them after all and it reminded her of the situation she was in before the Unmaking situation literally hit Cevanti hard.

"You know, you remind me of when I was first wandering the streets, trying to survive as well with these powers. It felt like years ago.."

This was true. After all, Blade could remember was the fact that some people did tests on her with these powers and she felt like she needed to escape and evade her captors which she successfully did but they could be trying to look for her even now.

She was lucky to manage to slip by them for so long.

"Well regardless of the situation, maybe I can help you just as you helped me? It's only fair and I want to try to resolve this peacefully."

Pikachutwo - the leader of their little group - regarded the stranger with increasing scorn as she spoke. Who was she to decide what they were and weren’t allowed to pilfer? The humans would do far worse to them if they found them - capture them in Pokéballs and force them to battle, or worse yet, imprison them in tiny cages and use them as living dynamos until they dropped of exhaustion. To humans, they were dumb animals - worse yet, tools!

Had they assisted her? No. They had staved off the dangerous creatures that had attempted to level the city, and the best way to go about that was to keep the other defenders alive. A strategic decision, no more. ‘Make no mistake - our help was not a kindness’, he wanted to tell her. But, he could only say "Pika - kachu pika kaaa!"

Thus, Blade’s offer to help, which Pikachutwo already viewed with enormous scepticism, was responded to with another electric bolt, this time stirring up the ground at Blade’s feet. Without being able to speak to each other, this was all he could do to say ‘Leave us alone, or else!’ in terms that a human could understand.

Except, it wasn’t quite what happened. Instead, bits of the lightning attack crackled forward, forming an arc towards Blade, much to Pikachutwo’s surprise. She, in turn, heard something akin to static with words intermixed, spoken with a harsh masculine voice: “Fzzzzz… leave us alone! … ever trust humans, we’ll be betrkkkzrr… defend the wounded frzzz leave no man behind! Krak… waiting for the krrrrk of Lord Mewtwo… will rescue us…”

However it was working, her electric affinity worked to her benefit here, if in a limited capacity.

With the electrocommunication being in play, Blade perked up as she heard them talking? Well, it was more akin to their thoughts but she could understand now which is a big help, but several questions popped up in her mind as she would have a response.

"Who is Lord Mewtwo firstly and secondly, do they know you're here? If not, then what is the use of waiting?" she asked. "In fact, look at your own group. Do you really have a choice to stick around here?"

Blade didn't want the Pikachutwo to continue causing disruptions in Markov but something has to be done or else, something could come in and cause legitimate harm to the group which would mean for trouble.

"Another thing, while you might not trust Humans, not all Humans are cruel because there are kind ones out there that desire the genuine best."

She had came across several of those kind individuals before even if those who say something about her powers were usually those that looked to her as if she was an outcast. Additionally, it's not her fault that she has these powers as all Blade could remember was a fog before that which caused her to stare out a bit before she snapped back to normal.

Maybe it would do her best if she wasn't wandering in her own thoughts as she was distancing herself from the current situation.

Pikachutwo was startled when the stranger began to respond to his thoughts. It wasn’t even something he had spoken out loud! How did they know of Lord Mewtwo, out of a sudden? Could they understand his words? Or read his mind?

… no. They would have done so earlier if they were capable of telepathy. And given that they had indicated not being able to understand his words earlier, he doubted that they had suddenly gained the ability to understand Pokéspeak.

The one thing that changed were the electric arcs linking them. Allowing the stranger to hear his thoughts, somehow? Hmph. He would just have to try harder, then.

“Lord Mewtwo is our creator and leader”, he thought. No point in speaking it aloud, but he tried to push those thoughts into the mostly-harmless electric discharge that he was sending at Blade. “It is aware of where we are, and will come to find us in time.” Because of course it was aware! There was no doubt on Pikachutwo's mind… even though he was actually wrong.

“The humans who are good are the exception. We cannot trust them just because a few among their number break the rule. And besides: we are stealing, are we not? We’re taking food, power, gauze and bandages away from the humans for ourselves. We know how humans deal with thieves. We won’t allow ourselves to be put down.”

Blade would only be able to understand things marginally better, the static still scrambling many of the words that the yellow rodent said, but with it ‘directed’, the static was more tolerable. At the very least, new information was coming forward: Pikachutwo’s squad had stolen medical supplies as well, mostly from first-aid kits in broken-down cars that remained from the Siege of Markov. Half of them were injured and needed treatment, which was part of the reason the squad had holed up in the ruins rather than going from place to place. ‘Leave no man behind’ indeed.
