Pokémon: Multerra Edition

Mewtwo's already there, so there are bound to be others roaming around the planets of the Crossroads, right? Right. This is mostly a repository for my personal use, but do feel free to use it for your own writing! I'll be using only the first two generations (up to #251 in the National Dex), nunnadat Alolan, Mega, Dynamax etc. variations, but given the diversity of the planets's ecosystems I'd say it's a given that there'll be mutated variants. Please also note that I'm assuming a Corruption Level of 1 for all planets!

Each planet has two Gym Leaders of varying difficulty. Were a to-be Pokémon champion to attempt to beat the Gym Challenge of the Indigo League, they would likely have to visit each planet twice as the second Gym will always be a lot harder than the first. They can, however, be done in any order. The Indigo League with the Elite 4 is located in the Medium, with its matches being broadcasted across the Medium for any would-be viewers to see.

Erde Nona
The 'basic' planet with a diverse and rich flora and by extension fauna, Erde Nona holds some of the most low-leveled and thus new-trainer-friendly areas where many will attempt to catch their very first Pokémon and begin their journey to greatness. As a temperate world it is likely to have the most diverse ecosystems.

The following types are common: Normal, Grass, Water, Fighting, Rock/Ground (esp. in the mountains and the desert), Ghost (near abandoned constructs and empty settlements).

The Gym Leaders of Erde Nona are Whitney (Normal, easy) and Chuck (Fighting, medium). Whitney lives in the outskirts of Arcadia and works part-time at a Miltank farm, whilst Chuck has a combat dojo in a small town in the Hinterlands.

Govermorne
Govermorne's world-spanning city means that there is little in the way of natural life left, but Pokémon life is nothing if not adaptable. Besides numerous domesticated Pokémon that work in the smog-spewing factories, various more inhabit whatever stretch of land they can.

The following types are commonly found in Govermorne: Poison (esp. Grimer and Muk near the sludge and slag oceans, and Koffing and Weezing near the smoke-belching chimneys), Ground, Steel, Fire, Dark and Electric.

The Gym Leaders of Govermorne are Lt. Surge (Electric, easy) and Jasmine (Steel, hard). Lt. Surge makes his home in Ashport where he helps local law enforcement with troublemakers whilst Jasmine can be found in Tinkerdrift, working as a Pokémon Breeder.

Nos'Talgia
Nos'Talgia is an outlier even among the already-special planets of the Crossroads, in that most inhabitants would call it supernatural and "weird". Nos'Talgia boasts the greatest number of Pokémon coexisting with other races not as pets but as equals, and is the only place where Pokémon can learn human speech, though it is still very uncommon.

Nos'Talgia has Fighting and Psychic types, as well as Ghost-Types in the Uncanny Valley, but many other types, especially humanoid Pokémon, dotted around the planet.

The Gym Leaders of Nos'Talgia are Erika (Grass, medium) and Morty (Ghost, medium/hard). Erika lives in 8-bitain where she and her Pokémon maintain a greenhouse that doubles as her gym, producing wonderful perfumes and teaching flower arrangement. Morty on the other hand roams the Uncanny Valley in search of answers and only rarely returns to his Gym, which is located in the Imagen Nation.

Cevanti
Cevanti's ancient ruins and decaying remains of civilization ravaged by dangerous Zoids and Akata have given rise to high-level Pokémon capable of defending themselves on this harsh world. A few Pokémon have learned to coexist with the other native inhabitants and a few even have symbiotic relationships. Nontheless, inexperienced Pokémon trainers are advised not to leave Markov.

Cevanti has Steel, Fighting, Dragon, Bug and Grass-types on the surface, and Ghost and Dark-types beneath the surface. The caverns are also home to a large number of ancient Pokémon such as Kabutops and Aerodactyl.

Cevanti's Gym Leaders are Brock (Rock, easy), and Clair (Dragon, very hard). Brock lives in Markov with his many siblings leading a simple but busy life. Clair lives in Markov as well, but at its outskirts, where she trains her disciples in Pokémon combat in an underground cave that she calls the Dragon's Den.

Kraw
The ravenous, ever-evolving death world of Kraw and its humid jungle ecosystem make it so that only the strongest and most adaptable Pokémon survive. The ones that do typically boast immense offensive power and speed, amazing camouflage, or both. It is arguably the most dangerous planet for Pokémon trainers and even accomplished Champions with multiple badges don't often venture here.

The Pokémon in Kraw usually employ 'unethical' tactics like Toxic and Spores and often have some form of self-sustain such as Giga Drain or Synthesis. The commonly encountered types are Grass, Poison, Fighting, Bug and Dark.

Kraw's Gym Leaders are Bugsy (Bug, easy/medium) and Koga (Poison, hard). Both have their gyms in New Abraxas, but often times take short ventures into Kraw's wilds to study the local wildlife - Bugsy as an insect researcher and Koga to study their poisons, camouflages and tactics.

Mesa Roja
Mesa Roja's arid and fierce climate means that trainers not only have to battle against Pokémon barring their way, but also against the world itself. Sandstorms are a common occurence and can catch even strong teams offguard, however the Pokémon themselves are not as dangerous if one can withstand the conditions that the native Ground- and Rock-types have adapted to.

The types commonly encountered here are Water, Plant and Dragon types around the oasis-es and the center of the disc planet, and Fire, Ground and Rock types further outwards.

Blaine (Fire, hard) and Blue (mixed types, very hard) are the Gym Leaders here. Both live in Karim. Blaine has a Pokémon research laboratory near the outskirts where he spends his time when not in the gym, whereas Blue, widely considered the strongest gym leader, has a full-time job taking on challengers.

Opealon
With its world-spanning ocean it is no surprise that Opealon is home to the most diverse ecosystem of Water-types of the Crossroads by an enormous margin. Likewise, the islands are inhabited by relatively peaceful Pokémon that share the limited habitable area. Many are also capable of flight to navigate between the islands, and a few call the sky their permanent home.

Flying, Grass, Bug and Dragon Pokémon make their homes on the islands and in the sky. The waters below are filled with Water and Dragon types, and the odd Electric and Steel Pokémon may be found near the powerplants of renewable clean energy that power the City of Hope.

Faulkner (Flying, easy) and Misty (Water, medium) are Opealon's Gym Leaders. Faulkner lives in the City of Hope whilst Misty has her gym on one of the outer islands sitting on the edge of a large body of water. Unlike most gym leaders who barely know a thing of their colleagues, the two stay in touch with each other near-constantly.

Inverxe
Much like Mesa Roja, Inverxe is a planet where you must withstand not just other Pokémon but also the environment. As with the other planets though, numerous Pokémon have adapted to the icy climate and the maddening effects of whatever inhabits Inverxe's underside, and yet more inhabit the volcanic mountains.

Inverxe is mainly populated by Water and Ice Pokémon of course, as well as some Psychic and Dark-types close under the surface and Fire-types around the volcanoes. Due to being a moon, Inverxe also has a relatively large population of Clefairy and Clefable.

Inverxe's two Gym Leaders are Sabrina (Psychic, medium-hard) and Pryce (Ice, hard/very hard). Sabrina lives in Fal Zhardum Din with the Dwemer, where her home and gym are located and she is as close to the 'whispers' of the planet's Underdark as is safe for her, whilst Pryce has a gym located in an icy ravine on the surface. Both are resistant enough to the maddening presence of the moon that they are not driven insane by it, though their respective eccentricity is arguably a product of their prolonged exposure.

The Medium
Due to its nature, the Medium holds relatively few Pokémon across all its levels - but even in this relatively inhospitable area, some tenacious species have made their home. They are harder to find than Pokémon on other worlds, but to those who know where to look the reward is great.

Steel and Electric Pokémon are the dominant species to inhabit the Medium, but the Pokémon species with the most presence is Porygon and Porygon2, who make themselves at home on the upper levels of the Medium and happily navigate the data networks.

The Elite 4 are fought here once a trainer has gathered all 16 badges and challenges them: Lorelei (Ice and Psychic), Bruno (Fighting and Rock), Agatha (Ghost and Poison) and Lance (Dragon) take on the challenger in that order. When not challenged, they are known to roam the Crossroads and periodically convene via video communication to decide on various matters concerning the Pokémon World.
