Jak and the ottsel, Daxter moved to check the abandoned building they had checked “out” for the night as both took a watch at the front door.

Erde Noda sure was a strange city with its own little quirks.

Daxter sat up and held the bag close. “Jak, it’s your turn on watch. I stayed up as long as I could, buddy.”
---------------------------------

Earlier in a bar, an almost boring show popped on like “Crossroads antique warehouse.”

A certain long eared warrior stood in the background and faked a smile “Hey Dante’s Abyss fans, as a person in the finale, I recommend you buy this necklace. It’s only $100,000E. Show up and perhaps you’ll find a deal on this necklace!”
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jak grumbled, as the fuzzy ottsel sat close to the bag containing the goods.

The eco warrior sat near the door, on watch, he wasn’t sure what to expect.

As he held his new communicator with a video screen, he slid one to Daxter as well, in case both of them got split up.

Jak slid the extra device away as suddenly a message popped up on both Jak and Daxter’s com. The ottsel asked who the heck the message was from. The eco warrior read off the name “Reez Kardrivhen”.

Daxter looked confused as he sighed “Hmmm? Never heard of her.. How did she get our number?”

Jak sighed “Dante’s abyss fan, i suppose.”

Daxter grunted “Hey! You’re famous! What about me! I’m not the sidekick in this pair you know!”

Jak shrugged “You are still famous to me, Daxter.”

Orange Lightning grumbled as he moved back toward the corner.

“Think of all the things we can buy, Jak!”

Jak nodded “Of course, Dax.”

The man with the long ears got up and stretched. “Hold on, Daxter, let me see the bag really quick. I want to look at something.”

Daxter nodded “Sure.. Oh, you wanted to look at that sweet merchandise?”

The eco warrior nodded, reaching in his bag and pulling out a reddish hilt with precursor language on it. Daxter’s eyes sparkled again.

“Holy shit, Jak. That looks like that was Mar’s in the past!”

Jak looked at it again in amazement. A precursor stone was attached to the top of it, a greenish glow surrounding it. “I am Mar, Daxter. I think I went back in time and created Haven City…”

Daxter blinked and crossed his arms “Hmph, Maybe I was Mar..”

Jak grunted “Daxter.. “

“Here we are, kid! They call her Erde Nona, well as you can see around, she got lots of ‘em interesting structures around.” Birke spoke, as the two of them walked on another bustling city. Looking around, Shinku noticed that most of the buildings are built on huge trees, giving the place an interesting fusion of organic and man made creations. Replacing the floating islands, are the view of huge airships, flying along with several live creatures that dominate the skies above.

“And of course before I let ye’ off by yerself, I’d have to give ye’ back yer’ stuff.” The old man continued, urging his young companion to follow suit, which the young man gladly did.

Fascinated with another fresh view, Shinku can’t help but to be enthralled by the diversity he sees around him. Just as he thought that the City of Hope has shown him the best view he could ever see in his entire life, he suddenly found himself in a dreamy wonderland, far beyond words that he can spell.

“A’right, here we go to gather yer stuff.” Shinku followed as the old man entered a huge concrete building having a rough, faded exterior. This one shows a rather old design, much like the town hall back at their clan, only having a more massive size.

“How may I help you sir?” A staff standing just by the door greeted the old man as he stepped into the building.

“Am here to collect my package.” Birke smiled, politely responding to the man’s greeting.

“Ok here’s your number sir. You may sit there as you wait for your turn to be called.” The staff pointed to a lobby area, neatly lined by wooden chairs. Giving the staff another smile of agreement, the old man walked towards the waiting area, with the young man following after him.

“Well there’s an auction right in this city where I get that ring from, but you need some special access to be able to be granted entry to it. Well, as I’ve told you, connections are very important, especially for you who are trying to find an elusive lot.” The old man lectured as they seat among the other people currently waiting in the room.

“I’m pretty confident ye’d be able to get by but heed me words kid, doncha force yerself to find them just yet. Spend time to gain power and when the right time comes, ye’d be ready to face them. As the old saying goes, don’t throw yerself into fire yet, until ye learn to resist its flames.” Shinku listened intently, as the old man granted him some advice. After waiting for a while their turn finally came, with the old man walking towards one of the windows that line just in front of the waiting room. Shinku on the other hand, remained seated as his companion advised him to.

It wasn’t that long when the old man returned, carrying a medium sized crate with him. “Here ye’ go kid, we got all yer stuff in there. And don’t worry, this place wouldn’t really mind yer’ sword in there so ye’ are free to place that on yer waist. I’ve made a scabbard especially fer yer sword so bringing that would be a breeze. And well, good luck on yer’ journey. And one last thing, I left some coins in there, get yerself some place to rest first before ye start with yer hunt” With that, the old man quickly left waving his last farewell at the young man. Shinku waved back seeing his companion as he exited the building and then disappeared from his sight.

Filled with excitement, Shinku decided to open the crate, finally seeing his belongings after quite a long time. His sword particularly caught his eyes with fascination. It was placed in a leather scabbard with some intricate designs. His sword felt lighter than before, even with the scabbard along with it. Not wasting a second, he quickly pulled his sword, confident enough to display it in public as per the old man’s assurance. The black blade has been thoroughly polished and sharpened compared to what it was before. Simply holding it excites Shinku, as he feels a strange power that emanates from its very blade.

Placing his sword back on its scabbard, he decided to strap it on his body, with the sword hanging on his back. He rummaged through the rest of his stuff in the crate, making sure that all his things are accounted for. Satisfied, Shinku decided to close the crate, and carry it along as he exited the old building.

"Jak, did you actually summon a zoomer and leave it where you can’t FIND IT AGAIN?!” Daxter moved his mouth, muttering and then complaining his feet were killing him almost every 5 seconds.

The eco warrior looked a little guilty and rolled his eyes lightly, “Well I did summon a zoomer but it’s somewhere in Erde and I don’t know where it is, Dax, sorry.”

“Come on, Jak.. Don’t tell me you forgot your hoverboard too?!” Daxter gave Jak the evilest stare he could muster.

Jak rubbed his neck “Uh, yeah, about that..”

Daxter mumbled “JAK!”

It’s when they started to hit a roadblock of folks “Hey! Look it’s Jak Mar, he was in the finale of Dante’s Abyss! “Let’s get his autograph!” The eco warrior’s face looked shocked and watched as two girls walked up to him with pictures of him from Dante’s Abyss “Please, sir! Sign our pictures!” Jak grimaced while signing his name on the pictures while Daxter smiled at the girls “Hey, what about me?!”

The two girls giggled “Nah, you aren’t Jak.. Sorry..”

Daxter huffed at Jak as Jak got all the attention today.

“We really should think of a better room to sleep in than an abandoned warehouse, Jak. For example, what about that inn? Pickers can’t be choosers you know.”

Jak shrugged “Yeah, I’m famous, doesn’t mean I have to sleep in the fancy inns and all.’

Daxter shrugged ‘Sure, whatever, Jak.. Let’s just go before it gets too late and we have to waste another few days on foot.”

Jak watched as Daxter scampered across the road to the street as he sighed, microphones chasing him. “Fuck.. I should go too..”

He ran toward where Daxter was going to and sighed.

The eco warrior ran inside the inn door with the vines going down it after the ottsel almost knocked the door on his friend.

Daxter blinked and looked up at the innkeeper “Hey, me and my friend need a room for two? Can you offer?”

Jak sighed “Hey, wait, Dax!”

Daxter blinked “Hey, Jak, just in time!”

The Innkeeper stared between the strange man, the man with long ears and the ottsel. “So you three are looking for a room togeth-

Daxter shook his hands “No no.. Just me and Jak here.”

The innkeeper sweatdropped “OH! You mean Jak as THE Jak Mar from Dante’s Abyss in the Finales?”

Jak sighed “Yeah, it’s me. How much does it cost?”

“Hmm, let’s see a room for two, that comes out to 100 each for a room.”

Daxter grumbled “What! That’s a rip-off!”

The innkeeper shrugged “Celebrities don’t get a discount. Take it or leave it you two.”

Daxter groaned, taking a bit of gold from the bag. “Fine, take it. 200, one room for me and jak please.”

The innkeeper sighed and nodded “Two keycards for you and your fuzzy pal here, enjoy your visit at Suvaro Inn.”

Shinku marveled at the uniqueness of Arcadia’s streets with it’s huge diversity of strange creatures and machines. The scene of what looked like huge metal armors, being ridden and operated like cars, side by side with over-sized birds, being mounted on like the usual horses back at Kirden Wharf, amused the young man who can’t help but be dumbfounded by the city’s eccentric ambiance. Shinku’s eyes wandered around, enthralled by both strange creatures and machines that met his sight for the first time.

Had he not noticed the signage of an inn along his path, Shinku would have gone maundering around the city for the day. Suddenly recalling the old man’s advice to search for a place to temporarily settle down, he decided to enter a huge concrete building, beautifully decorated with ornamental vines, all creeping around it.

“I would like to rent a room please.” Shinku politely approached a woman, standing behind a wooden desk that served as the Inn’s counter. Before the innkeeper can respond to him though, another guest, which looked like the mixture of an otter and a weasel suddenly cut him off.

Shinku, being polite as he is, stepped aside after the strange creature barged in, similarly asking for a room. He decided to give way, not wanting to cause any scene in the foreign city. Also, the creature amused the boy as it spoke in a rather tactless manner. Other than looking like a 2 feet rodent with orange fur and yellow underbelly, the fact that the creature spoke intelligibly like a human surprised the boy. Beside the creature was another person, standing a few feet taller than Shinku. The rodent-like creature’s companions shows a more humanly appearance except for his long pointed ears, and nails that almost resemble a claw.

As the deal went between the rodent and the innkeeper, Shinku’s attention was caught by a screen that was hanging on a wall behind the counter. The screen showed an advertisement of a certain necklace being promoted by an actor. As if having the necklace zoomed before his eyes, Shinku saw the symbol of their clan engraved right at the center of its pendant. The young man watched intently, drawn by the familiar artifact that once belonged to his village. I didn’t take him that long to realize that the actor on the advertisement looked exactly as the companion of the guest that cut him off.

The man does seem like a famous guy in this world, emphasized by how the innkeeper reacted upon learning his name. Shinku can’t help but to stare back and forth between the screen and the man who shows exact resemblance with the one on the advertisement that is holding the necklace. He looked intently, knowing that this man holds another clue that might be related to his friends and relatives' murderers.

Daxter turned, noticing the same guy who he almost ruthlessly interrupted was staring up at the television set back and forth almost interested, as in trying to find the difference between the man on tv and the man here.

Daxter nudged the man with the long ears and whispered to the man “Uh, Jak.. you have a uh.. Fan!”

Jak turned to eye the stranger who kept checking him out and then the television set out “Uh, can I help you?!”

Daxter moved toward the innkeeper, taking the two keycards and sliding them away. “He’s looking at something you are promoting, Jak..”

Jak raised an eyebrow “Oh? That necklace.. Uh, they just told me I had to do a commercial and talk about it..”

The ottsel pulled the eco warrior to the side “Jak, I think we should go find our room now before he finds us…”

If it wasn’t obvious that things were more than a little unnerving for the ottsel, he nervously looked back. “Come on, Jak…”

Jak looked at his friend, who looked a bit worried like a frightened cat for a second “Why so worried, Dax?” Jak raised an eyebrow at the man looking at the screen and then them.

Daxter grunted “It’s because I think.. He’s following us.”

Jak nodded, looking back and grabbed his stuff and turned going up the stairs with Daxter in tow and his other things. The eco warrior started to stop at the nearest hot tub and Daxter longingly looked inside as he wanted to rest his fuzzy feet in it as Jak pulled him away.

Daxter glared daggers Jak’s way as he whined “Jakkkk, why can’t we go swimming!! I wanna hit the hot tub!”

Jak growled “Later, Dax. Once we realize we aren’t being followed by that man out there. Wait..”

Daxter looked up “Huh?”

Jak smirked ‘You can go, Daxter to the hot tub. We’ll split up for now.”

Daxter smiled “Sure, pal. Just find our room and I’ll change and go to the hottub for a while and chill with the babes.”

The eco warrior let the ottsel slide the card to their suite and the door opened as inside the room laid two king sized beds, flatscreen televisions, coffee machine, a mini refrigerator and a lot more.

Daxter blinked and hopped on the king size bed. “Holy shit, Jak.. I didn’t think we paid for a room like this, oh man!”

Jak locked the door on the room as he sighed, lying on his King size bed and holding his things close. Bending down, he stashed his other things in the mini safe and locked it. He remembered the code and laid down.

His sides quickly allowed his host to lay there half asleep for now. The Dark King stared at his host, watching him look lazy at the moment. “Aren’t you going to do anything productive, Jak?!”

Jak muttered “What?” as he began to talk to himself in his sleep.

Daxter turned and hopped on the eco warrior’s bed “Jak? Are you alright?”

The eco warrior muttered a quick “I’m fine, Dax… go to the hot tub.”

Daxter shrugged and began to summon up a quick pair of trunks and went to the bathroom to finish putting them on. After the ottsel had a pair of cool sunglasses and trunks on, he grabbed a towel and a card and nodded “Stay safe, Jak. You know where I’m at. Call on the comm if you need anything.”

Jak nodded and rolled over, moving the comm near his hand, making sure it was close in case he had to find Daxter.

“You let Daxter go on his own, Mar?! You know there’s that guy following you guys yet this happens.” Light mutters to his host as he felt a strange feeling near him but he couldn’t put a finger on it.

Daxter couldn’t help but be worried about Jak lying there on his own but he shrugged. He was going to have a good time on his own at the hot tub. He moved toward the stairs again, walking down toward the pool area and sliding the card inside as the red light turned green. He opened the door and moved toward the hot tub, looking around for the hot woman. To his dismay, there was none but he slipped his fuzzy feet in anyway.

“Not quite chocolate but this will do.” The ottsel smirked and dipped his fuzzy feet into the water. “Ahhh, now this is life.” The ottsel slipped his shades over his eyes and pushed himself deeper in the hot water.

Jak locked the door for the time being until Daxter would return for the night.

A few hours later, a knock was heard at the door as Daxter returned with a towel in hand. “I’m back, Jak. Now open up!”

Jak jumped up and unlocked the door, as the ottsel slipped the card in the door and it opened, Jak helped the ottsel in the room and locked the door again. “Any sign of you know who?”

“Uh,actually not really, Jak, the pool area was quiet tonight. Huh.” The ottsel wiped himself off and dried his orange fur until it was done drying. He put his pants back on and put his wet pants to dry. “Anything with you, Jak?”

Jak shook his head “Nope, nothing here either. Just chilling, Daxter.”

Daxter smiled “Sure, Jak. He hopped on his king sized bed and slid into it, getting comfortable. “Sure you don’t need me over there, Jak?”

The eco warrior shrugged and looked at Daxter, who looked pretty cozy in his own bed for once. “I’ll think about it. I’ll let you know if anything happens, Dax.”

Shinku was too focused on another artifact, appearing before his eyes, that he failed to notice his own ostentatious act. It was when the long-eared warrior spoke to him, did the young man realize that he was starting to attract some unwanted attention. He flinched, facing the warrior as, trying to compose himself up.

“Oh I uh…” Shinku faltered, trying to come up with an excuse for his action. He isn’t a skilled conversationalist but the last thing he wants at the moment, is to cause a scene inside the inn.

Fortunately enough, the little orange creature spoke in his stead. The little guy must have noticed Shinku’s stare at the advertisement on the screen that concluded the latter’s interest in the necklace.

“Ah yes of course the necklace.” Shinku nodded, when the long-eared warrior faced the screen behind the inn’s counter where an advertisement of the latter was being played.

‘So he works for them.’ Shinku thought, faking a smile after the stranger mentioned being asked to do a commercial for the necklace. He brushed the back of his head, trying to act as normal as he could in front of the strangers that spoke to him.

Before Shinku could open his lips for another speech, the orange creature suddenly pulled the warrior seemingly in a hurry. The young man decided to face the innkeeper yet, still observing the strangers at the edge of his vision as the two went on with their private conversation.

“I would also like to have a room.” Shinku smiled at the innkeeper, hoping that the strangers would forget about the previous scene keeping his focus on the woman in front of him.

“Well, that would be a hundred coin for a room.” The innkeeper politely smiled back, as she began to press some buttons on some sort of machinery at her desk. Quickly, the young man pulled out the needed coins and handed them over to the lady as he secretly observed the strangers who were now on their way towards the stairs.

“Are you a fan of Jak too?” The young lady leaned forward Shinku and whispered, while pulling out something from the desk below the counter.

“Uhmm..” Shinku faked a smile, confused of what the innkeeper would have meant. He suddenly realized that the innkeeper did call the long eared warrior earlier as Jak, adding something about Dante’s Abyss. “...Oh yeah of course Jak. I’m really a big fan of him.” He exclaimed, smiling awkwardly as the innkeeper slid a card across the desk.

“I can tell.” The woman giggled, speaking in a low voice, then placed the card near Shinku. “I can’t blame you. He is really famous around here after placing 5th on Dante’s Abyss. And boy, isn’t he really good looking.” The woman continued, suddenly lost in thought as she spoke about Jak. “Well perhaps you’d want me to give you the room next to those two. But of course I’ll have to ask you for an extra.” The woman grinned, pulling the card back close to her.

“So how much would that cost?” Shinku whispered, looking around if the duo is still nearby.

“Well, let’s see, maybe another hundred coins would be enough.” The woman responded, smiling slyly at his seemingly defenseless customer.

“Uhmmm...alright I think I still have some over here.” Shinku reached for the wooden crate beside his feet, recalling the coins that the old man provided him. He got the additional coins, and placed it over the desk.

“Well then, here’s your card. Enjoy your visit at Suvaro Inn!” The woman then greeted cheerfully, with Shinku grabbing the card that the young woman finally slid back towards him and tried to keep up his awkward smile.

Placing the card inside his pocket, Shinku picked up the wooden crate which he previously placed on the floor just in front of the counter. Instead of making his way towards the stairs however, Shinku decided to walk towards the hotel’s lounge, lowering the crate again on the floor and then taking a seat. He opened the crate, then pretended to be looking for something yet, what he actually did was to put himself in a deep trance, allowing him to monitor any movement of all sentient beings at least 150 feet around him.

Having his head bowed, Shinku’s disheveled hair has covered a portion of his face including his eyes who are actually closed. The young man kept his concentration, then tried to locate the signature of Jak and his companion. Having met the duo earlier, he was able to grasp the spiritual signature of his targets, enabling him to track them through his Shadow Art.

‘Found you.’ Shinku muttered, finally being able to identify the signatures of his targets. He kept on monitoring his targets for a while, noticing how the two went their separate ways. Both seemed to have settled to each of their places but with the other one still moving about, Shinku went on with his observation.

Shinku chose to snap out of his trance, the moment he felt the presence of the woman from the counter, coming near him. “Is everything ok?” Shinku heard the innkeeper’s voice before deciding to finally open his eyes.

“Oh yeah I’m all good. I’m just making sure I have everything right here.” The young man smiled at the innkeeper, then closed his wooden crate and made his way up the stairs. He carefully walked along the corridor, remembering that the room he was assigned for, was just beside Jak’s room. He carefully stepped without making a noise, finally seeing the label of the room that shows the same number of his card. Assuming that the card worked like the old man’s shack back at the City of Hope, Shinku placed the crate down the floor, reached for the room’s card and placed it at what looked like a scanner in front of him. The door did open, causing Shinku to quickly grab his crate and enter the room provided for him. He then carefully closed the door, settled his things down and sat on the king sized bed that was placed at the end of the room, just near the curtain.

Satisfied, Shinku went into another trance, tracking his target once again from where he identified them before. Jak’s spirit signature was indeed just in the room beside his own, seemingly immobile. The orange creature on the other hand, is still moving about from a distance. After quite a while Shinku can now notice the creature coming nearer his place. The orange creature did enter the room where Jak was, and finally settled down. Shinku can’t actually hear whatever they were talking about, but he can discern that both their consciousness were still active. After a while, the smaller creature’s consciousness started to drift away along with Shinku’s own consciousness who gradually started to fall into slumber.

It’s when the curtains opened when a certain ottsel slipped out of bed and started brewing “The Crossroads best coffee” to start the day. The sun had just peaked from the clouds signaling the day had just started and Jak was still sleeping.

The ottsel took a sip of the piping hot coffee cup and shook Jak for a second “Come on, wakey wakey, big guy.”

Jak sighed “What time is it, Dax? 6:00 am? Ugh.. Dax, it’s too early.”

“Come on, we’ll miss all you can eat breakfast!”

Jak turned, trying to sleep more when he popped up and looked at the black coffee brewing, smelling it. “Coming, Daxter. The eco warrior took some of the coffee and sat down, drinking it “Hmmm, not bad. Haven’t had real coffee before.”

Daxter was already done with his first cup and checked his comm again “Odd, we still got this Reez person still on our phone, she left a few messages.”

Jak raised an eyebrow, taking another sip of the dark coffee “What does it say, Dax?”

“She says something about being a big fan of racing, and she spotted you in her district with me? She wants to start a big name racing team and wants us on it.

Jak almost spat out his coffee “Whoa, a big name racing gig?! Here?! Of all places? What kind?”

Daxter read again, raising another eyebrow “It’s for the F-zero races.”
Jak once again moved his coffee and moved his hands forward “The F-zero races? The ones back in the Omniverse from years ago? I tried to build something years ago.. It never worked out but hell yeah, I’d like to try again. But who will provide our car?

The ottsel blinked “I don’t know, This Reedz says she’d love to meet us first. I’d say we find the location of Reez first, she says she’s in the same district as us?”

Jak heard his stomach growl “We can talk over breakfast, Dax. Let’s go get some grub.”

Daxter smirked “Sure, Jak. Let’s go get some of those cinnamon rolls!”

The eco warrior looked around for a moment and began locking up the room, grabbing things and storing them away in the safe before leaving and closing the door softly unaware that the visitor next door was that same guy nearby.

“Mar, be advised that that same guy is next to your room. He’s watching your every move, I’m not quite sure what he’s tracking us with but I don’t like it.” “Be careful, Jak.”

Jak held Daxter’s mouth as they made their way down the hotel’s winding hallways as they turned a corner, moving farther away to avoid detection.

Jak’s comm buzzed, looking at Daxter “It’s Reez, she’s being hunted by the mob now.. Looks like we need to protect her, but we can’t drive and protect her at the same time.”

Shinku woke up, not even realizing when he had fallen into slumber. The floor, just below the huge curtain at the edge of the room, shows some drips of sunlight, indicating that the sun had already shown itself outside. The young man pulled himself up, blinking for a moment, then gradually composed himself up to come back to the real world.

Shinku’s alertness finally took over the moment he recalled about a stranger named Jak, that had a necklace belonging to their clan. Quickly, he put himself into a deep trance, using his shadow art to sense all the sentient beings around him. This time though, he singled out the two spirit signatures that are both on the room beside him. His otherworldly senses showed that both his targets are still at the room, and are both conscious.

In his deep trance, the young man noticed the small creature to be moving about the most while the taller one between them, stayed stationary at one place. There were a couple more movements by the duo inside the room when finally, they made their way outside. For a while, Shinku observed that the taller one stopped in front of his room. He flinched, worrying that he had been detected. It wasn’t that long however, that both the duo had gone on their way towards the stairs.

Shinku decided to snap out of his trance, realizing that his targets were getting away. He quickly stood up, grabbed his sword and ran his way towards the door. Before he could get far from his bed though, Shinku came across the view of a short note posted on a small table beside his desk.

Free eat all you can breakfast at 7:00 am

The young man calmed down, realizing that the two must have just gone downstairs for the free breakfast. He decided to drop by the restroom first for a quick morning hygiene routine before finally making his way out of his room.

The hallway is quiet, either signalling that most of the guests were already at the dining hall downstairs or perhaps still wandering in dreamland. He walked warily along the hallway, uneasy of the fact that the place is totally empty. Midway, his stomach growled, reminding the young man that he hasn’t eaten anything since the previous day. Being a bit at ease now, Shinku slowly marched, making his way down for breakfast.

Just when Shinku was about to turn toward the stairs, the eco warrior and Daxter hopped out as Jak made the first move and grabbed the assassin of shadows. Jak looked over at Daxter who was the first one in the inn in the first place.

Daxter crossed his arms “Alright, spit it out, stranger. You came all this way to follow us for what reason exactly? I saw the tv ad you were staring at. What exactly are you following me and Jak in the first place?!”

The scene seemed a little awkward and a bit hopeless at the moment as the eco warrior’s stomach growled a bit too but he wasn’t as hungry at least. The eco lightning around the man’s body danced, becoming a bit out of control to say the least for anyone around the corner.

The Nobel could feel the darkness start to fill in Jak’s head “Mar, control yourself. He won’t hurt you!”

Jak blinked “Well?”

The scene around him was a little awkward, hoping nobody was watching around him holding the assassin.

The ottsel sighed and frowned “Listen, just stop following us and explain what you are actually here for.”

‘I wonder what kind of food could they have here? Wew when was the last time I have eaten something?’ Shinku thought, as hunger takes over him. For a moment, the young man seemed to have forgotten of the targets that he was tracking a moment ago. His body has now felt a bit heavier, with the effects of starvation dragging the assassin’s body down as he approaches the stairs.

As he turned towards the stairs, Shinku was alerted by a sudden movement just beside him. He tried to grab his sword but the motion was very quick that he could only find himself seized by a tall man from behind.

Shinku quickly recognized his captors, upon hearing the voice of the rodent-like creature from over his head. By the creature’s speech, it was made clear that the two had found out of Shinku’s stealthy pursuit.

Too weak from starvation, Shinku wasn’t able to use his shadow art to escape from the eco warrior. For a while, he tried to meld with his shadow but no matter how much he tries, he can’t seem to be successful in warping out of captivity. For a while, he tried to struggle but his meager strength couldn't even make him move an inch.

Moreover, fear took a hold of him as an unknown, frightening energy rose from the eco warrior. He can feel a sudden contrast of both burning and freezing sensation from his captor’s body. Leaving him without a choice, Shinku can only respond to his captors’ inquisition.

“That necklace, who asked you to sell that? Are you working directly with them? That necklace belongs to my village.” Shinku tried to calm himself down, hoping that he could find a way to break free.

Jak sighed and gave a breath of relief “Someone named Karl Jak, Syntech is a company or something like that he runs but it only came around during Dante’s Abyss. I can try to help you get it back but if you help me out first with a task.

A racing tournament has come up, you heard of the famous F-zero races, right stranger?”

“Well let’s say in business terms, I’ll help you if you help me out. Plus you don’t really have a choice right now in the matter.”

“Anyways, deal is I have this communicator linked to my number. “You use it during the time we get split up and contact me when me and Daxter get to the race, got it?”

The eco warrior pulled out a communicator that had an audio and video screen on it and gave it to Shiku.

“Me or Dax will contact you after we split up to make sure things go through.”

Daxter winced and bent leaning into Jak’s ear and whispered “Sure we can trust this guy?

Jak turned and whispered back “We have to, it’s the only way we can do this mission with help. Besides it will make our jobs a hell of a lot easier.”

Daxter sighed and whispered back “Fine, just be careful Jak, I just don’t believe he’d trust us either after this.”

Jak finished packing up what he needed and nodded. “Let’s go find my zoomer, that will give us a reliable ride to the slummier part of Arcadia.”

Daxter felt his stomach growl “What about breakfast, Jak?”

Jak sighed “We can get breakfast lat-” and then felt his stomach rumble. “Alright, Alright. Let’s go eat, Dax.”

Daxter was already far ahead of him. “Come on Jak, don’t keep me waiting!”

Jak walked slower than Daxter but followed the ottsel down to the lobby where the dining room had a bunch of delicious things on the bar.

The ottsel already stocked his plate with all the food he could put on as the cinnamon rolls looked pretty good at the moment, plus some yogurts and whatever else he could find that looked good.

Jak picked out some eggs, a waffle, a few cinnamon rolls, cereal and some toast and more coffee.

Both sat down at a table and began to eat.

Daxter was already chewing while talking “Hey Jak, I’ve never had a good cinnamon roll, why doesn’t Haven or Kras or the other places we go have them?”

Jak looks slightly embarrassed “Well, Dax. Why don’t you ask Ashelin and Torn sometime when they aren’t trying to kill Metal heads?”

Daxter blinks “Jak, you trying to kill me? Tattooed Wonder would kick me out for asking a dumb question like that.”

Shinku suffered quite some pain from the eco warrior’s grip before it finally started to loosen up. Not wanting to waste such a good opportunity, the captured young man pushed himself forward to break free from captivity. He then fixed his clothes up, and turned to face the eco warrior.

Shinku listened, wary of his opponents’ next moves, as the eco warrior explained about the origin of the necklace that he previously asked about. As much as the assassin can hope to have full information of where the necklace was, the eco warrior withheld some information and proceeded on making a deal with Shinku.

Shinku grimaced, furious at the fact that the eco warrior was trying to make use of his need for information. The assassin crossed his arms, tepidly listening to the eco warrior’s narration about a certain F-Zero race, where his assistance would be needed.

As much as he wanted to use the opportunity to turn against the eco warrior, he deemed it better to accept the man’s deal instead. As the eco warrior emphasized, Shinku had no other choice regarding the matter. He is a foreigner on Erde, and searching for any lead about his village’s murderers would be like looking for a needle in a haystack. He needs even the slightest detail he can get to come in closer to his goal.

“Fine.” Shinku replied belligerently, as he grabbed some sort of communication device that was being handed to him. He stayed quite a while, listening to further instructions from the eco warrior, then walked away the moment the briefing stopped. He went down the stairs, without even a gesture of courtesy for his new found acquaintances.

Shinku lumbered down the stairs, dismayed at how the previous events had turned up. Being used by another person is the least that he wanted at the moment however, he can’t simply pass a deal that can at least get him closer to his quest for vengeance. His growling stomach only makes his discomfort worse, as it made the young man feel even more weary.

The assassin held the device in front of him, as he made his way towards the dining hall. ‘A race eh. Did I look like a racer to those two?’ Shinku thought suddenly puzzled on how he would be able to actually partake of the deal. He would have tried to use the device to ask the duo however, the smell of food finally lured him into the sumptuous buffet.

With that in mind, Jak finished eating first, while Daxter continued his chat. Getting up, he asked if he could keep his things here for the time being.

The desk attendant nodded “Of course. As long as you stay.”

Daxter nodded and finished, following Jak out the door toward where they last left the zoomer in Erde Noda. “Oh, you mean you left it locked so nobody could steal it? Why didn’t you say that?! We could have been here and to the races a LOT faster!”

Jak sighed and rolled his eyes as he finally nodded “Here we are.” He unlocked the vehicle and looked for Shinku until he came as Daxter climbed on Jak’s shoulder.

He should be close behind us at this moment..

Jak sighed as he picked up his comm and started to call Shiku “You hear me? Me and Dax are out near my zoomer. “I forgot to explain to you your part of is to keep the mob busy and away from me and our client, Reez.”

“If you are ready, me and Dax are ready to hit the road.” Jak remembered earlier to ask the inn attendant for directions to the F-zero race location.

Daxter sighed, so let’s see we got this old fashioned map here. “It’s a beautiful day to race, huh Jak?” Daxter waved his hand in front of his friend’s face.

Jak seemed focused on the map, moving his hand with the pencil toward the slum part of Arcadia. It was true, the location they were at bordered between steampunk and even some strange magic elements like dragons.

The ottsel said “Hold on, Jak.. let me contact our client.. Uh huh, yeah.. right , right, Looking for Reez.. Ok, it’s connecting to her.”

“Is this Reez I am speaking with?”

“Yeah, what’s going on? Where are you two?”

“Well actually, we brought a partner along for the ride, Reez. It’s a long story.”

“Alright, well I’m excited to begin racing and the mob expects me to have cash from the winning racer by the week’s end. You better not disappoint me on that.”

Daxter gulped “Don’t worry, me and Jak are expert racers. Well our partner, he’s going to keep you safe, Reez. Don’t you worry about that.”

Daxter chuckled nervously to Jak “Hey Jak, it’s Reez.”

Jak quickly looked up from the map and closed it as he picked up his Comm “Reez?! It’s Jak, what’s up?”

Reez turned “You know where the slums are around here, Jak? You are actually closer than you think.”

Jak looked a bit serious. “Wait, really?”

Reez smirked “Despite being on this planet only a year or so, you still don’t know your way around here, do you? She held back a stifled laugh.

Jak groaned and sighed “Just get me to you and the race track.”

Reez muttered “Alright, Alright. All business, no time for fun, I see. Now let’s see take the road straight and the middle-class buildings should start looking a little dumpier and dirtier.

Be careful of the seedier groups around this area, don’t trust them. Now my racing garage should be the better looking building you see as you turn the corner. “Shhh, keep the location secret. Can’t risk the Arcadia mobsters finding me.”

Shinku basked in the warmth of the morning sun as he opened the curtains to marvel at Arcadia’s majestic view from the inn’s window. It was his original plan to take a stroll around the city’s streets; however, the sudden unexpected turn of events made him decide to stay at his room to monitor his new acquaintances' movements.

The lustrous, cloudless sky has been painted with a rosy hue by the golden rays of the sun. It’s placid expanse has been made more alive by zeppelins and dragons, scattered as far as the assassin’s eyes can reach. The busy streets on the other hand, teems with a crowd of humans, and a couple of chocobos running about its concrete ground.

For a moment, Shinku decided to close his eyes, making the majestic view in front of him disappear into darkness, replaced by lights, projected by the spiritual energy of all the sentient beings around him. Out of those lights, Shinku followed the view of the eco warrior’s spiritual signature along with his rodent-like friend. Ever distrustful, the assassin can’t help to think of the possibility of the duo’s betrayal.

The eco warrior’s spiritual light projection shows that he was still at the dining hall where Shinku was a bit earlier. The man’s small friend still accompanies him very close by obviously having their meal. He checked off any more acquaintances the duo might have but the activity of the other sentient beings from around them appeared to be separated from the two.

It wasn’t that long when the taller among the two made his move away from the dining hall and outside the inn, with the small creature following shortly after. Both their movements were in a steady phase not having a hint of haste. Observing their vitals, both appeared to be having a simple stroll around the streets of Arcadia.

Everything was going smoothly until Shinku realized that the duo is about to step into a zone where his tracking fades. Not wanting to lose the two, Shinku quickly snapped out of his trance and meld into his shadow. He appeared atop another building, concealing himself to prevent any unwanted attention. He went on warping in and out of the shadows, bringing himself closer to the location where he last felt the presence of the eco warrior and his sidekick.

Satisfied of how far he got, Shinku stopped at the peak of what looked like a medieval tower built right at the center of a century old tree. Again, he closed his eyes and entered into a trance. It didn’t take him that long to identify the spiritual signatures of his targets. They appear to me merely a few meters from where the tower was standing. The phase of both his targets’ movements did not change a bit, still indicating a normal stroll. Checking all the sentient beings around them no one seems to share the same activity except a few beings that would approach and leave the two from time to time. Judging from the cheery aura of those that get close to the two, there appears to be no shady events going on at the moment.

Shinku started to focus closely, the moment his targets stopped at a secluded area in the city. This time, no one else seemed to approach both his targets with the closest sentient being, appearing several meters far from the two. It wasn’t that long from then, when Shinku’s trance was disturbed by a ringing sound from the device that the eco warrior handed him earlier.

“You hear me?....” A distorted voice spoke from the other line appearing to be from the eco warrior. The man informed Shinku of being near what they call to be a zoomer.

“I see. I’ll be right there.” Shinku responded, disappearing into his shadow, and reappearing into a dark alley just a few meters away from the castle where he was in. He decided to take the normal route, walking towards the eco warrior in an attempt to appear normal to the two.

It did take Shinku a while before he could reach the place where he remembered tracking his target’s presence a while ago. He approached the duo, seeing the small creature speaking with someone on a communication device.

“Hey.” Shinku subtly announced his presence, with the eco warrior nodding in response as the latter took the communication device from the small creature. Satisfied, the assassin walked towards a wall, leaning against it as he watched the eco warrior communicating with someone over the line. He crossed his arms, patiently waiting for what appears to be quite a long conversation.

The eco warrior lifted his head up from the phone conversation and closed the comm as the conversation finished.

“Reez is a talker, I’ll give her that. “ The eco warrior sighed and moved his head toward the zoomer, nodding at Shinku that they could get a move on toward the floating islands.

Daxter chuckled “I’m sure she’s quite a good looking woman, Jak, you never know.. Hint hint..”

Jak wanted to facepalm right there and then instead rolled his eyes at Daxter “You know..”

Daxter crossed his arms “I know, I know. Tess. You have Keira.”

Jak paused for a second as he thought of Keira and that kiss they shared years ago. He blushed for a second. It was then Jak shook off the memories and the embarrassment of the moment and calmed down, making sure Shinku didn’t see him blush before Daxter hopped on Jak’s shoulder and both hopped on said zoomer.

The man cleared his throat and said to the stranger following him “ Hey, we are leaving now. Keep following us and we should be there soonish, I hope.

Erde was very whimsical and interesting. The whole trip for Jak and Daxter seemed like a tourist trap more than getting ready to save a client from Arcadia’s mob kind of deal.

Daxter’s mouth was agape just looking at the setting nearby. Trees filled with the brim with whimsical plants and flora made him gasp in wonder. On occasion, Daxter would point out something obvious and cool he noticed but Jak would groan “I’m busy, Daxter.”

The fantasy lands would eventually turn into irreparable, old buildings with paintings from years past, old garages, and eventually the seedier bars, of course. Things were starting to feel more like Kras City than the friendly fantasy world Erde was showing off earlier.

Daxter shuddered “Hey Jak, what happened to the happy-go-lucky part of Erde? I wanna go back!”

Jak frowned, looking around him in cautious ticks and hoping for his unwilling ally, to show up.

The eco warrior needed to stay vigilant if the assassin of shadows decided to run away. Not only were they in a slum part of Erde, they only had one way to get home. They needed to protect that for now.

Well there was one more way home but nobody else needed to know right now except him. It was his and Daxter’s secret.

Daxter nodded and told Jak “Remember, he’s tracking us so he doesn’t lose our location.”

The eco warrior nodded remembering that fact now.

Daxter blinked, “Hey Jak, Is that stranger really going by himself on foot? That’s odd.”

Jak shrugged “Don’t worry, Dax. I’m sure he can handle himself in this part of the city, right? We had to find our way for years. Plus it’s kind of odd we’d trust this guy after just meeting him.”

Daxter looked back “Alright, then.”

The eco warrior just focused on finding his way to Reez’s garage, letting Daxter point the way to go. On occasion, they’d pass buildings with paint chips peeling off their respective buildings, old glass windows missing hinges and tiles and on occasion, maybe an abandoned building or two.

The ottsel turned to look around the darkened alleyways once or twice, seeing nobody or nothing.

It was then, Reez’s racing garage must have stuck out like a sore thumb because it looked the newest out of all the buildings around the area. The eco warrior was still a little suspicious of this place so he pulled the zoomer inside the racing garage and got off.

With the eco warrior still on the phone, Shinku decided to immerse himself yet again into a deep trance. The assassin has always been distrustful of people around him, especially of strangers that tend to use him for anything. Making sure he wouldn’t be doublecrossed, he used his shadow technique to make himself aware of every sentient presence around him. He searched behind walls, inside buildings, and on streets, as far as his senses can reach. He made sure to capture every movement, intent and the interaction of all those he can sense, including the duo that are just standing a few meters away from him.

His companions didn’t seem to emit any malignant intent as he observed the aura they radiate. Moreover, there seemed to be no person hidden in close proximity around them. Most of the sentient beings he observed, were all distantly located, and going about their own activities. Still discontented, he stayed in his trance constantly observing every single living soul that he can see as glowing lights, and shaped depending on their species.

Shinku decided to snap out of his trance the moment he noticed the eco warrior’s form, turning towards his direction. With his eyes opened, the assassin of shadows caught a glimpse of the eco warrior’s nod perhaps signalling the former that they are about to depart. Hesitant of his companion’s signal, the assassin simply stood, observing the duo as they walked towards what seemed to be a solo vehicle that was leaning on the wall at the far side of the alley. He followed the eco warrior’s steps as the latter along with his sidekick, continued to converse along the way. Shinku’s assumption was reinforced the moment the eco warrior hopped on his vehicle that mostly resembles a floating motorbike with its front part, taking the form of an air transport. The smaller creature, which the eco warrior oftenly refers to as Daxter, quickly followed suit then helped himself on to the warrior’s shoulder.

After revving the engine, the eco warrior asked the assassin of shadows to tail them towards their destination. Shinku was about to inform his companion that he had no ride of his own, when the eco warrior suddenly took off, leaving the assassin behind.

‘Jeez, I hope the place isn’t that far from here.’ Left with no other choice, Shinku simply took a deep sigh, then disappeared into the shadow realm. He chose to warp back atop a tall building of the city so he can at least be closer to his companions. He jumped through the shadow from one rooftop to another, trying his best to catch up with the eco warrior’s bike. He wanted to marvel at the view of the city from above but keeping track of the eco warrior proved to be a tedious task as he needed to use his shadow art to both track the warrior’s location and teleport himself towards the direction of his companion.

As his travel progressed, the once magical and majestic view of the city gradually fades into a shabby, dull slum almost resembling Kirden Wharf. As he continued his pursuit, the assassin noticed that most of the buildings in this part of town are old concrete structures, stained with molds and dirt. Oddly enough, the structures almost resemble abandoned buildings but are crowded with people. The beautifully decorated zeppelins and majestic flying creatures can no longer be seen on the skies above. The fresh air of the semi organic streets of Arcadia has turned into the stench of a dreggy urban town.

The assassin of shadows continued to warp in and out of existence through his shadow art, making sure not to lose the eco warrior. His shadow pass allowed him to catch up with his companion while on land however, constantly using the skill proved to become much more difficult as the travel got farther and farther.

'When are we going to stop?' Shinku grumbled, trying to catch his breath while continually teleporting in pursuit of the eco warrior. His attempt to dive into the shadow realm began to fail from time to time, forcing him to focus more of his inner ki before he can do another successful teleportation. Fortunately enough, the eco warrior finally slowed down and started his descent. Noticing the eco warrior’s change in speed, Shinku decided to stop for a while to take a rest and observe the warrior’s movement much closer.

It was then, Reez’s racing garage must have stuck out like a sore thumb because it looked the newest out of all the buildings around the area. The eco warrior was still a little suspicious of this place so he pulled the zoomer inside the racing garage and got off.

Reez seemed to be caught off guard for a second as she stepped forward with a wrench in her hand, almost in attack position.

Daxter stared back at Reez, the wrench in attack position as he caught it “WHOA! Listen there, Reez. We aren’t who you think we are!!”

Jak blinked and sighed “Yeah, it’s really us, your clients you called for the racing team?”

Reez sighed and placed the wrench down “Right, uh… Sorry. So I’m Reez, So you two are the famous finalists of Dante’s Abyss I’ve heard about right?

Daxter was about to speak when Jak covered his mouth. “Uh yeah, me and Jak are world famous racers! “Well, Jak’s technically the Dante’s Abyss finale person but..”

The long eared woman’s eyes literally sparkled when the strange being said they were “World famous racers. No way, so not only is Jak a DA finalist, he and you are racers! Oh man, what LUCK! I am so GOING TO WIN THIS YEAR’s F-zero races!”

“Alright, Reez but we need details of how the race team plans to start.”

Reez looked over at Jak and Daxter “Well, there’s you two, if you are fantastic racers like you say you two are, and me. Oh! I thought you brought another with you..”

Daxter sighed “Well, about that, he’s still coming” as he eyed Jak by nudging him hard.

Jak got elbowed by Daxter and muttered under his breath “Ow, Dax. Yeah, my “partner” is coming. Actually I have a proposal to talk to you over, Reez. I see you said the mob around here is particularly nasty and they are hounding you for cash.”

Reez immediately took a hard look at Jak and Daxter and took a hard gulp “Yes, the mob around Arcadia is hounding me for cash. What of it, though you two?”

Jak turned toward the back for a second and took a breath “Well, my business associate agreed with me that he’d protect you from the mob while me and Daxter drive and win the F-zero races for you out there!”

The mechanic crossed her arms “Are you confident your partner can fight?”

Daxter smirked “Of course he can, he’ll protect you from that nasty mob out there!”

The red-black headed mechanic with the long ears turned back “Well, you guys know what you are getting into?”

Jak turned “The F-zero races, I’m assuming it’s sort of a death game like we played in Kras, or in other terms forced, am I right?”

Reez turned on a light screen near the ottsel and Jak as she pointed out the track in Arcadia. “Let’s at least start with a basic understanding: Yes, it’s racing but it’s actually above the city. I’m not sure what kind of racing you did but pretty sure it wasn’t above the ground.”

Plus I forgot to mention this is my own creation, I call it “Fast and Furious.”

Daxter blinked “What? I thought we were promised a way to build our ow-”

Jak turned awkwardly toward his ottsel friend “What Daxter meant to say is that we’ll drive it for you. We haven’t driven a car like this to be honest.”

Reez blinked and raised an eyebrow “What kind of car do you two usually drive?”

Jak pulled out a quick picture of what he usually drove. “Let’s see basically it’s almost like what you have here. Except with many weapons of our choice, bluntly. “

Daxter smirked “We even beat Mizo’s gang out there who thought they could get the best of us too.”

Reez thought for a second “Actually, I do have a proposal for you, Let’s say you boys can customize this baby anyway you want once you win and I pay off the debt I owe. Can I trust you two to go through with this deal?”

Jak said “Sure. From what I see, the F-zero races aren’t big with weapons. You just have to drive to win, right?”

Reeze sighed “Yeah, I haven’t seen F-zero cars with actual weapons on them before to be honest.”

Daxter smirked “Well you haven’t met us out on the track, baby. We are the Dynamic duo, Orange Lightning and his sidekick.”

Jak frowned “Well, what’s in it for us?”

Reez smiled “Basically, some cash and extended use of my F-zero garage anytime. Maybe I might let you two build your own babies.”

Daxter rubbed his hands in glee “Oh, that sounds like a great deal..Me and Jak would love our own cars to rumble out there again.”

Jak nodded “Deal. We’ll race and win for you, Reez. Hopefully you keep your end of the bargain. My business partner will handle the mob.”

Reez nodded “Great, let’s get this baby toward the track. I can’t wait to see you two in action.” She seemed purely excited for the first time based on her wanting to go to the F-zero races in forever.

With the eco warrior finally getting to a halt, Shinku was able to take a breather from continuously warping in and out of the shadow realm. The shadow assassin temporarily settled down on the top of a flat concrete roof. As he relaxed his ki, Shinku entered into a trance once again to closely monitor the eco warrior and it’s sidekick. With their phase, it appeared that the duo is now travelling on foot which allowed Shinku to relax even more as it indicates that they have reached their destination. From where the duo are, the assassin estimated himself to be at least 30 meters away which is a pretty safe distance for him to keep track of his companions.

A sudden hint of aggression from an unknown sentient being near his companions alarmed Shinku who was about to snap out of his trance but it’s quick transition to serenity calmed the assassin as well. The eco warrior must have found his client as the ambience by their area seemed to have settled down to a more relaxed aura.

Shinku’s companions however, would be the least of his concern for now as the assassin suddenly noticed a malevolent intent coming from several beings that slowly approached him.

“Eh what do we have here? Someone’s brave enough to trespass in our territory.” Shinku can hear a hoarse voice of a male being, coming from a few feet in front of him. He decided to keep his trance state, observing the movement of the mob that have now surrounded him on all sides. Through his extrasensory skill, Shinku was able to determine that there are about ten beings, all with ill intent against him. A dark aura surrounded each of the beings, causing Shinku to focus his attention on them while still keeping his trance state.

“Hello, is anybody home!” The same voice taunted, followed by the sound of light footsteps. Still not moving an inch, Shinku stayed calm as he saw a particular spiritual form moving towards him.

“Hey boss. This one must have been too scared to move. I bet he’s already shitting in his pants.” Another voice mocked, which started a chorus of sarcastic laughter among the group.

Shinku focused on restoring the flow of his inner ki as it has been too disrupted after being abused through the frequent use of his shadow pass. He can feel the presence of the one that first spoke to him, just a few inches away. His enemy has gone so near that Shinku can hear the click of a pistol being cocked. The aura of aggression has now become more intense around him, yet Shinku remained unfazed at the middle of his foes.

“Now listen kid! If you don’t tell us who you are and what you are doing here, I’m gonna have a bullet poked inside your head.” The man threatened, making the front of the gun’s barrel touch Shinku’s forehead. At this point, the shadow assassin’s ki has started to gradually stabilize. “I’ll give you ten seconds to answer, kid. Ten…” The stranger in front of him continued to threaten the shadow assassin with a sudden countdown. The other beings that surrounded Shinku started to mock the assassin with random swear words.

“One!” For a split second, Shinku can hear the subtle sound of the trigger being pulled. The voices of the others have started to fade into deep distorted voices and then into total silence.

“Whhat the hell happened!” A fire was shot but to everyone’s surprise, the young man that once stood among them disappeared without a trace. The fired bullet drilled a hole on the concrete surface of the rooftop, making it seem like no one was actually in front of the stranger who made the shot.

Shinku reappeared on the top of another flat concrete roof, then again melded into his shadow with his eyes focused towards the eco warrior’s direction. His energy has fully returned, having his ki restabilized after a few minutes of rest. His blood started to boil, agitated of the inconvenience that he just went through. He made several jumps into the shadow realm until finally reaching his destination.

“Hey! Are you trying to have me killed!” A dark smoke suddenly materialized into a midget man in front of the eco warrior, holding a sword that was pointed at the warrior’s throat. Daxter and a woman near the duo appeared to have been paralyzed in fear as if a phantom suddenly appeared in their midst.

The ottsel quickly cowarded out of the way when Reez dug for something other than a wrench in her garage.

“Uh.. uhheh, Uh… Jak? A LITTLE HELP OVER HERE?!”

Jak heard Reez and Daxter’s little nervous little speech and his head turned. A black shadow figure appeared as once again, the “figure” made itself known to the group.

Reez blinked “Who the hell is this?”

It didn’t take long for the shadow to form and point a sword at the eco warrior’s neck accusing him of “trying to kill him.”

Jak growled as the sword was near his neck “Don’t be stupid, I thought you were following me!” It was only then, that same feeling Shinku felt once would
Come back to haunt him if he wasn’t careful.

Jak’s dark form hissed in turn as his body was already changing toward the Dark King.

Reez looked absolutely horrified as Daxter held her, trying to reassure her that he was going to be fine and he wasn’t a horrid monster.

Black horns jutted out of the man’s head, followed by a sickly greyish hair and black filled eyes came out. The demon’s lavender skin showed underneath Jak’s clothes as the Dark King hissed, his claws now pushing Shiku’s sword “Better not to threaten our host.”

It was then the form of the phantom stranger disappeared with just a poof of air. “Pesky..”

It was when the assassin raised the blade to try to finish the dark warrior off, the beast grabbed the sword before it slashed at his head. Dark eco lighting would begin to dance up the stranger’s sword grip like lightning, giving the man holding it a very nasty almost paralyzing shock.

Reez paced around the garage, the two hotheads were starting to get on her nerves fighting in her garage but they were this close to something. What was i-

“CRASH!” Reez winced as the item crashed to the ground. Her rage was something more combined than both the dark eco fueled man and the angry assassin. She was a pissed off female mechanic.

Reez started with intense rage. “WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT THAT CRASHED! I REFUSE TO HAVE GUYS THAT FIGHT IN MY GARAGE WHEN THINGS CAN BE SO EASILY FUCKING BROKEN JUST LIKE THAT!”

Jak immediately stopped and changed back to himself once Reez started to scream and his bolt hit something like an engine. He muttered “Shit.”

Shinku tightened his grip on his sword, his heart beating in rage as his weapon threatened its impending victim. His eyes bore through the soul of the warrior in front of him, aiming to psyche his opponent out. This time, his strength is at its peak, reinforced by his sudden fury towards the eco warrior who made him travel a couple of miles on foot. It was only fortunate enough that the assassin can travel through the shadows, slightly attenuating the toil.

Though confident of his stance, the assassin suddenly flinched when once again, a dark aura emerged from the eco warrior. The same fear suddenly seared through the assassin as his opponent underwent a sudden transformation. The aura around his opponent was similar to the energy the warrior released during their first encounter. With Shinku not facing the warrior during the incident at the inn, this became his first time seeing Jak’s skin going from pale ivory to a more purplish hue. The eco warrior’s blond hair has faded into grey and black claws emerged from each of his fingers. Shinku felt his opponent’s energy significantly rising up yet he tried to remain unfazed by the eco warrior’s frightening aura.

Shinku was surprised when Jak quickly took a grip of his sword’s blade, pushing it away as the warrior warned him not to threaten their host. Realizing his disadvantage, Shinku quickly pulled his sword then had his body diffused like a black smoke and gradually disappeared. He re-emerged behind the eco warrior, arching his sword in a crescent strike, to cut through his opponent’s head.

To his surprise, Jak was able to quickly maneuver himself to capture the assassin’s blade as if merely holding a wooden stick. Bolts of lightning suddenly surged from the eco warrior’s hand, speeding it’s way through the blade and towards the assassin. The lightning’s current gave a sudden sting to the assassin, forcing him to again seek refuge into the shadow realm. With the assassin disappearing, the eco warrior’s lightning bolt shot towards a nearby car engine, frying its gears to a crisp.

Shinku decided to re-emerge at a safe distance from the eco warrior, trying to rethink his steps. He can still feel the pain from the shock of Jak’s lightning bolt. His opponent proved to be a tough one in spite of the assassin finally gaining his full strength. He was about to make his next move when suddenly, a loud yell roared around the room. The yell came from a lady of which Shinku was only aware through his shadow tracking. The lady’s rage was enough to make both the battlers cease their senseless fight.

Realizing his stupidity, Shinku decided to quickly sheathe his sword yet still making himself prepared in case the eco warrior still decides to retaliate. He stared at the fried engine, relieved that he chose to escape the lightning bolt before ending up with the same fate as the car’s engine. He turned his head towards the eco warrior who seemed to have calmed down as well. His face of guilt is evident making Shinku feel the same with the mess that they both made.

“Alright my bad. So what do we do from here?” Raising up his hands in surrender, Shinku walked towards his companion in an attempt to make up for his rude entrance.
