Zack is a Carefree Swordsman.

He has seen it all, done it all. Zack has experienced huge wins, devastating losses, and has literally jumped between realities. Not much can surprise him anymore. He keeps a positive, yet somewhat sarcastic demeanor most of the time, and generally tries to do good. His combat style revolves around the Buster Sword that he keeps with him at all times. Though he may use other weapons or magic, he always defaults to his massive sword when in doubt.

Description - The Buster Sword is a massive six foot long, one foot wide sword that Zack keeps as his primary weapon. The greatsword rests across his back when not in use, and Zack takes it everywhere with him, having become quite accustomed to navigating most environments with a massive slab of metal strapped to his back. It is devastatingly sharp and durable, and due to its large size it can be used just as effectively as a shield.

Description - Zack is a former member of the ShinRa Electric Power Company, a globally dominant power in his original world. He was among the top operators in their paramilitary section, working in the special forces division known as SOLDIER. Having ascended to the top of the First Class division, Zack was subjected to multiple experiments that enhanced his physical abilities beyond that of a normal human. Though he has been weakened upon arrival into a new realm, Zack can feel his strength slowly returning.

Description - Zack spent his youth hunting and fishing in a quiet country town, and most of his adult life on the move in exotic locations. He can use his same resourcefulness he has in battle towards pulling together available ingredients and cooking a decent meal. This has earned him the nickname “Fieri” from some he’s encountered in his travels. He doesn’t fully understand it, but he’s happy to accept the compliment.

Story​

Pre-Crossroads

Zack Fair was born in the remote town of Gongaga, where he enjoyed a peaceful childhood of hunting, fishing, and exploring. Though he enjoyed his youth, he was constantly looking out to the world at large, dreaming of real adventure. When he was only fifteen years old he left his hometown to join the ShinrRa Electric Power Company, an energy company that produced the Mako energy used to power nearly everything in the world. He joined their paramilitary section and was quickly moved to their elite division known as SOLDIER due to his incredible hand to hand skills and swordsmanship. Zack soared through the ranks, and was mentored by a First Class SOLDIER named Angeal. Eventually Zack joined the ranks of First Class, himself, and soon he was second only to the legendary SOLDIER Sephiroth.

For all his success, he encountered constant troubles at every step of his journey. Zack dealt with the death of his mentor, and inherited his weapon, the Buster Sword, from him A rogue SOLDIER named Genesis sought to expose the corruption of ShinRa, and crossed paths his his former allies many times. It wasn’t all bad, as Zack also mentored a young infantryman named Cloud and began to date a girl named Aerith. A fateful mission to the town of Nibelhiem saw the fall of Sephiroth, and in the aftermath a wounded Zack and Cloud were taken captive by their former employers and subjected to five years of experiments. Zack managed to regain consciousness and escape with Cloud, hunted by his former allies.

Now on the loose, Zack and Genesis both hunted each other down. Their pursuits ended in a climatic final battle at the hometown of Genesis, with Zack standing victorious. He pressed on with his journey, determined to make it back to Midgar. Despite the city being the headquarters of ShinRa, Zack wanted to see Aerith again, and help her escape the slums she was stuck in. He was ambushed on his approach, and although he managed to hide the comatose Cloud from the ShinRa forces, Zack was killed in a long battle against the ShinRa military. With ShinRa reeling from Zack’s final stand, Cloud embarked onward towards Midgar to begin his journey as Zack’s life ended.

Or so he thought.

Zack awoke in a new realm, having been seized from the jaws of death. He ventured through a white void and arrived in a volcanic realm, where he worked alongside an army known as the Koopa Troop to deal with threats to the land. Eventually he allied with another tribe known as the Gorons to bring down the dragon overlord of the realm. Afterwards, Zack traveled to a land of endless oceans and islands, where he teamed with a small group on a quest a relic of incredible power. Just as they stumbled upon the relic they were attacked by a pirate ship full of skeletons and monsters, while a dangerous Kraken lurked below. Zack took the battle to the enemy’s ship, making another final stand against impossible odds. The battle raged onwards even as the ship was dragged below the surface.

Zack never expected he would emerge in a new ocean, in a new realm.

Crossroads

Submerged in the ocean of the Vasty Deep, Zack was attacked by the Kraken. He leaped from the water and was pursued by the tentacled monster, with the rest of the pirate crew they were battling being eliminated in their wake. The battle continued between the two, when they were confronted with a message of death and despair by a being only known as an Arbiter. Zack realized he was in a new world, and decisively ended the battle with the Kraken. Beyond that he realized that a new world awaited.
