Rukia is a Dutiful Generalist:
Despite being separated from her friends after the academy and feeling much like a fish out of water as a ‘death god’, Rukia is determined to protect the medium and the worlds beyond from harm. Thus, despite the snarky face she often wears, she always acts with the intent to use her gifts to protect others, regardless of what risks this forces her to face. A work-a-holic that intends to keep those under her care safe and grow into someone worthy of the name ‘Kuchiki’.
In combat, however, her humility and understanding of her own flaws play a greater role. As a woman with some skills in magic, some skill in swordsmanship, and a reasonable amount of capability in swordsmanship, she is also very cognizant of her lack of extreme talent or skill. Instead of going for battles of power-on-power against equivalent opponents, Rukia will search for the range or ability that would leave her toolset most effective against the opponent, and aim to control the battlefield in order to bring it about - whether that’s by using her magic, her mouth, her mind, or her muscles.
Physical Description:
Standing at 4’8 And ½, Rukia is an incredibly short woman, despite being in her 100’s, and tends towards looser clothing for her casual wear. Her features appear fragile despite her muscle, and she is often considered to be delicate at first glance - though the steel in her eyes clearly state otherwise.
Character History:
Soul Society. A place that was built as a bastion of order in the chaos of the Medium. Departed souls often come here, an oasis amidst the ethereal realm of dreams and electronics, and those that come are sometimes touched by the medium - triggering an awakening, a burst of spiritual energy that suffuses their being.
From generations of this comes soul society’s guardians, those sometimes called Balancers, Death Gods, Soul Reapers, or Shinigami.
Their charge is simple: Help those who have departed find their way to the afterlife, and slay those beasts that belong in the medium, that escape to wreak havoc among the crossroads.
Born on the outskirts of Soul society, Rukongai, Rukia grew up as poor as a ghost could be, surrounded by other children that looked to her as a sort-of leader, sort-of mom, sort-of rose, including her childhood friend, Renji Abarai.
After a long while, her childhood friends dwindled, lost to the poor conditions of the city, and she resolved with her only remaining friend, Abarai Renji, to use their burgeoning spirit power and become soul reapers, together.
Eventually, she was adopted into the noble house of Kuchiki, and give a noble’s patronage, being told by Byakuya Kuchiki, the head of the family, that she resembled his deceased wife, and thus was brought into the family for this reason. Working within the noble house, she brought herself to a barely acceptable level of swordsmanship, before being thrown in the 13th division - the shinigami office most known for policing the outside world from threats. It is here she starts, unsure and anxious about her skills, and thrust into her first real mission:
A post in the hinterlands, protecting the area from supernatural threats spawned by the medium, and taking care of the dead… what could possibly go wrong?

While functionally, simply a blade which Rukia has placed his power within, the weapon still functions well, cutting better than the average blade and functioning as a well-made Katana. Though it looks like a steel blade, it is simply Kuchiki Rukia’s own spiritual energy focused into a weapon, making it unique to him. Despite this, it can be taken from her like any other blade, and used against her.

This ability requires focus and energy, otherwise, Rukia cannot manage to see the spiritual threads and the ability will fail due to her distraciton.

The blast is potent, burning flesh and disintegrating weaker materials, and arcs out in a broad hedgehog pattern, burning everything in range regardless of Rukia’s intent.
To use this, a chant is often used,
"Ye lord! Mask of flesh and bone, flutter of wings, ye who bears the name of Man! Truth and temperance, upon this sinless wall of dreams unleash but slightly the wrath of your claws."
The magic is quick to sap Rukia’s strength due to the reishi it requires. Thus, she uses it sparingly, where she can. The chant saps her energy and if she foregoes the chant, simply calling out the name, for improved speed, this energy drain becomes even worse. The spell's energy requires some focus to use, as well, meaning she needs to keep careful concentration on her spiritual energy, or risk miscasting the spell entirely.
