Greetings, friends and neighbors and Jeff.
As I've mentioned a few times (mostly just in passing here and there), I have fully intended to run Death Game again, and have been pondering over further ideas as to what form it might take. The original format I chose last year was certainly entertaining, but I feel that another iteration of that (especially after this year's DA event and the upcoming Unmaking event) would be...a bit much.
So with all that said, I have come up with a few different options and choices for what I might run that I now present to you, to see which one you might prefer to take part in. These are, at the moment, fairly basic ideas, as I didn't want to flesh out all of them to a halfheartedly-full extent, but rather focus my efforts on the one most well-received.
As an aside: this would, in all likelihood, take place at some point early next year to fit into the general time flow of other events and give a little downtime between them for other things to take place. Do feel free to ask any questions you have if you need/want more clarity about them, in the meantime, before actually casting any votes or making any decisions.
So with that said, before I spent 5,000 words rambling about nothing in particular, on to the choices I've prepared:
Format 1: 'Scavenger Hunt'
In essence a base similarity to the format form last year, but more...simplified. There will be a map, there will be regulated movement, and it will be at its core a PVP scenario....but, any fights done will be written by the parties involved. The core objective is to survive the chaos thrown at you by the locale you'll be deposited in, and secure a certain selection of items. Once all the items have been collected, the final victory conditions will be revealed. It will, by necessity, be more fast-paced and require closer attention and quicker posting, but the exact logistics will be worked out as the time draws nearer.
Format 2: Survival Horror
This option will be more...open. Primarily a PVE based one, though in similar fashion to many of these events there can be only one 'real' winner at the end of things. The premise being you are deposited in an unknown location suffering from a terrible issue, and robbed of most (possibly all )of your various powers/abilities/weapons. This 'problem' will be highly deadly to you, and the core objective is simply to find a way to survive and/or escape. It will have a map with several specific 'zones' to which you may travel to and look for clues/information/helpful items, with periodic 'life or death' moments to eliminate players or pose sufficient danger, but it will be overall less tightly-focused and regulated than format 1. The aforementioned 'problem', in the form of some kind of....monster? will also be secretly controlled by a randomly assigned player, putting the true extent of the danger as an unknown even to me!
Format 3: Madhouse
A classic murder mystery, even set in a spooky-ass haunted mansion. All participants will be completely depowered of any and all abilities outside of the human norm in this format, so be prepared. One person (or more, depending on the number of participants) will be selected as 'the killer'. At the start of the event, there will be a short duration for everyone to explore and familiarize themselves with the area before the 'first killing' occurs, and one participants (this first one will be an NPC, don't worry) is killed, to properly set the scene. From there, it becomes a frantic free-for-all, trying to find a way to escape from the mansion and its grounds, find and stop the killer(s), or simply be the last one standing at the end of it all. There will be a lot of moving parts and precision in this one, but that should mostly be on my end, and be the most...laid back for participants, overall.
And there you have it. As stated above, you are 100% free to ask questions or the like here, or scream at me on Discord if you prefer. I reserve the right to not answer something if it would spoil too much, but I will try to be fully transparent regarding most things.
