History
Erik was once a young acolyte serving under the mad god Gal’skap when, under bizarre circumstances, he was abducted by a mysterious, grinning deity and forced to act as a toy, entertaining the upstart gods for years. One day, though, a mysterious cataclysm occurred, rendering the smiling god’s world into nothingness. Erik believes that he should have died that day, but by the grace of his deity alone, he survived, flung into another tiny pocket reality like the last. He spent many years wandering aimlessly, contemplating his existence, before he was overcome by enlightenment.
This was his mission. Clearly, the great king Gilgamesh was an emissary of Gal’skap’s will, even if he wasn’t yet aware of it. If that was the case, then Erik was honour bound to carry out his mission in his absence. Dedicating himself to the aspect of Gilgamesh that served as the mad god’s conduit, which the cultist came to call the King in Gold, Erik began to challenge anyone in a place of power to single combat, killing as many bodyguards and champions as he needed to until he could plant the flag of New Babylon in their seats of power. Once he had amassed enough of a following, he collected as many loyalists attuned to the eldritch powers as he could and conducted a great ritual, transported himself and a few choice followers (namely his old friend Sand Hawk, who he happened upon early in his travels) to the next reality. Then the next. Then the next.
Erik’s new cult, which he came to call Nibiru, rampaged across countless worlds in the name of the King in Gold until he finally chanced across the crossroads, a world that was far too big for him to conquer easily and, for whatever reason, impossible to magically escape from. When the cultist was biding his time, however, he realized that his king, and a surprise son from another reality, existed in this world and changed his course. He would instead serve to protect this new world against its greatest threat, the unmaking, to preserve what his king had made.
And, of course, to gather his strength to finally try his luck at Dante’s Abyss once more.

Personality

Erik is a quiet, stoic man dedicated wholly to the pursuit of his craft and his mission. He possesses a wisdom and patience that reveal a life of experience and works tirelessly to keep a cool head regardless of the situation. Erik approaches everything calmly, assessing every aspect before acting, judging the way that each encounter will best serve his crusade for the King in Gold. While this calmness is genuine, it is an outer layer that conceals a roiling core of rage and madness. The ringing of prayer bells and quiet chants under his breath serve to keep the cultist’s drive to fight and conquer in check until the time comes to unleash it, at which point he becomes a berserker, deaf to the world until he manages to get a hold of himself again.

Possible Reactions

A fight: Erik relishes in every fight. An even or even losing battle is a chance to hone himself ever sharper as a warrior, while an easy fight is an opportunity to show the superiority of the King in Gold.
Mages: Those who use magic while rejecting the old gods are cowardly thieves and must be punished most severely of all. Erik will offer them no mercy beyond a swift death in battle.
Allies: If Erik judges an individual to be beneficial to his goals overall, then he will allow them to serve as an ally, fighting alongside them, though he will not let his guard down or actively protect them until they have thoroughly earned his trust.

Relationships

Gilgamesh: The King in Gold himself. Erik is unsure if his king would still recognize him, though he would gladly serve by his side nonetheless. He sees himself as a weapon for the king to use, and as such if the king decides to kill, sacrifice, or otherwise betray him, he will accept it gladly. He will also refrain from telling Gilgamesh about his eldritch destiny. He knows it’s a lot to take in.
Sasuke: The best of them, the worst of them. Erik believes that the ninja let New Babylon down all those years ago, but he respects his skill nonetheless. Things will likely lead to violence if they meet, but the cultist will be particularly wary of this foe if they meet.
Deadpool: They were, at a few points, allies, even working as partners in the last DA under the smiling god. Still, he knows that the merc is incredibly unpredictable and will treat him as more of a force of nature than another person.

Combat’ Style

Erik will spend the beginning of the fight analyzing his opponent, noting their strengths, weaknesses, fighting style and habits. Once he believes that he has a good grasp on them, the beast comes out. The berserker will hurl himself headfirst at his foe, relying on pure instinct and skill that has carved itself into his body after decades of training to tear his unfortunate foe to pieces.
