Arc Lalatoya
Origin: Skeleton Knight In Another World
------------------------------

Personality RpMEwPg.png

Arc is a Friendly Anti-Hero. As a skeleton with his emotions being suppressed, he does whatever he judges to be right and advantageous to him if it doesn't hurt anyone that doesn't deserve it. A good-natured and approachable knight, he does whatever is necessary to help those in need while exploring the world in a light-hearted manner.

Possible Reactions

Arc will protect the clearly weak and innocent at the cost of himself, although not many people will fit the bill here. The alliances of convenience do not necessarily make the other contestants his friends. He is mostly honorable and prefers cooperation when possible so he will try to mince words both to explore possible alliances and to size up his opponents. However, he is ruthless to those he finds evil and will not hesitate to slay an enemy given the opportunity. He may betray others he finds out are really bad people.

Relationships

He has a friendly relationship with Magnus, but Neal said he is going through a re-write, so if he shows up, Arc will have known someone very similar and the first person he met in this world, but is not him.

‘Combat’ Style

Arc is calculating. With his emotion suppression his default demeanor is jovial and in combat he is thoughtfully considering his actions before he does them. He has some actual experience sword fighting after sparring with his partner's mother, but is not used to fighting on an even playing field as he's only really fought when he's been absurdly stronger than his targets or significantly weaker. In a serious fight at life or death stakes, or against particularly bad people, Arc's fighting gets more ruthless and he starts skipping calling out the names of his moves.

Eligible Abilities
MMORPG Character
Adaptability: Falling
As an avatar built from an MMORPG game that didn't have fall damage, Arc just doesn't suffer from fall damage. Much of his character level has been mysteriously locked away since coming here, but is still considered a Holy Knight, his subclass Pope, and all the character classes below them on the class tree. As a majority of these classes are magic casting, Ranged abilities come easier to Arc. (Specialized Affinity)

Skeleton Character Skin
Adaptability: Nonbiological Anatomy
Side Effect
Arc's character skin on his character causes a variety of very questionable physics in regards to how his body works. He simply doesn't have organs or flesh of any kind, instead being purely a skeleton. His pet fox has even slept inside of his ribcage. Despite this, Arc is not considered an Undead creature by any means, and still has most of the needs and requirements that any living creature needs such as air, sleep, food, and water. But not having organs, like a physical brain, has some unusual side effects on Arc. His emotions are being suppressed. Though he has adapted and is not emotionless, Arc has difficulty experiencing extreme emotions and some more basic emotions like guilt and fear without putting some thought on whether or not he should feel guilt or fear.

The other main thing he no longer experiences is Hunger or Thirst. Though he needs food, water, and air, he doesn't feel the bodily need for those things and only starts to experience them indirectly when his body starts to weaken from a prolonged period of no food/water/air. He probably wouldn't notice he is choking at all, until he is already knocked out from lack of oxygen.

Dimensional Step (Restricted to 5 Feet in Dante's Abyss)
Teleport 2
Affects Multiple 1
Endurance 5
Limited [This Only, reducing the Stamina cost of Dimensional Step but nothing else]

A basic low cost mage-class teleport spell, Ark can cast this spell pretty much as much as he wants to teleport short distances, up to 20 feet. He can teleport anywhere so long as he can get a visual lock, and there is a physical path to the location. For instance, a Keyhole is enough of a gap to teleport through a door, but he can't bypass a closed glass window. A gap under a door would work if he could get a low enough angle to see the other side, or look through a nearby window.

With how cheap it is in Mana, Arc will use this in place of walking while traveling large distances and sometimes bypass obstacles by repeatedly casting it into the air. For reference, at spamming speed with the below limits, the math comes out to about 4.5 mph at Teleport 2. Any willing target can be brought along with Arc so long as they are touching him, but items/inanimate objects not being carried do not come for the ride.

While extremely useful in combat allowing him to ambush and rapidly strike an entire group of unaware bandits, he usually needs a couple seconds to focus on the spot to teleport to and his movement is halted for a moment on reappearing. If he is focused on teleporting again he can pull it off in half the time, but that 1 second delay before he starts moving at all gives time to his opponent.

Dimensional Step also cannot normally be used to bypass the Knockback or other related forced movement effects, if those effects come from a living or animated creature.

These limitations leave openings for skilled opponents to exploit, so Arc avoids spamming Dimensional
Step in difficult combat though he still strategically makes plays with it since teleporting to a blind spot can create an opening too.

Wyvern Slash
Damage 5
Ranged
Limited

A mid-tier Knight skill, Wyvern Slash lets Arc swing any sword and let out a blast of sword light to slash things from a distance. However, Arc specifically needs to have a Sword equipped. (Abilities without Removable do not count as Equipment, but limited time consumables or relics/trinkets/etc can count, if they are Swords.)

Fire
Ability Effects:
Damage 2
Ranged (Specialization)

A basic, simply named mage class attack spell. Fire light's one of Arc's hands on fire then shoots a fist-sized fireball in the direction he points his hand at which explodes on impact.

Wind Cutter
Ability Effects:
Damage 1
Ranged (Specialization)

A basic mage class attack spell that uses wind to attack. Wind Cutter forms a somewhat wide, sharp, flat, green blade of wind energy in front of one of his hands then launches it. Works well for mowing grass evenly.

Super Focus Application - "Transport Gate" - Arc casts a spell that creates a magic circle around his feet. He then has 10 seconds to visualize the area he wants to teleport to, and teleports to it. Arc needs a clear visual memory of the location in question to teleport to it using identifying landmarks, and he has has to have physically been there before. Identifying landmarks can be as simple as an arrangement of rocks or an unusual tree and can include temporary objects he associates with it as long as it represents a unique place to Arc. This means he can teleport to his own hotel room in a chain hotel, for example, using a true arrangement of the room as he had left it as long as its distinct from other similar locations he is holding in his memory, and get back there even if the landmarks have changed. (Super Defense)

Extra

Arc likes to call out the names of his spells when he isn't yet super serious, but it is not a necessary component of his spells. He is a gamer in an avatar of an MMO character, he may well use gamer lingo or compare things to common gaming knowledge if appropriate, but he does take this world seriously and doesn't just apply video game logic like this world is actually a video game. He particularly likes fantasy-setting things, so he may awe for a moment at something like a dragon or get excited at the prospect of meeting an elf and lose composure for a moment.
Arc has his emotions suppressed, but this isn't like he is emotionless just that he is sitting at a baseline pleasant mood that is difficult to move away from. He does not typically feel guilt and fear without first thinking about if he 'should' feel those things.
If it ever applies, 'Skeleton Character Skin' from his perspective is considered a curse. A Super Debuff Remover could possibly remove it. If it does, he turns into a brown skinned elf with raven-black hair and dark red eyes and all the emotions that he's experienced since he last shed the curse rush at him all at once (It hasn't been 'that' long or that unpleasant but it'll stun him for a moment). Typically he reverts back to a skeleton depending on the strength of the de-curse. He'll also be naked if he is already naked and probably is since he doesn't normally wear clothing inside his armor.
