"AWAKEN, MORTAL! IT IS TIME TO BEGIN YOUR DAILY ROUTINE!"
The sound of an all-too-familiar greeting rang loud and clear, cutting through the haze of sleep still hanging over Aster's head. She groaned audibly, lifting an arm to lazily swat at her bedside table, blindly groping for her alarm clock. It took nearly a full minute to find it, during which she dislodged and sent flying her wallet, keys, phone, glasses and an empty water bottle.
"I have an alarm, you know," she grumbled as she finally lifted her head up from the pillow, resting her chin on it. "Not that it does any good with somebody like you around."
Her only response was a maniacal cackle, as someone unceremoniously yanked the blankets off from her and her sheets out from under her in one fell swoop. Aster yelped in surprise as she was sent spinning and tumbling out of bed, landing on her rump with a soft whump of her (some might say unnecessarily) fluffy and padded carpet.
With a friend like Mako, though, carpet as soft and plush as she had was entirely necessary.
"If I let you rely on that thing, you'd never get out of bed!" Mako announced, plopping a hand down on Aster's head and ruffling her hair.
"One of these days, I'm gonna get an alarm system to stop you breaking in here," the wolf girl grumped, swatting away the offending hand and forcing her tail not to wag with a monumental effort of will.
"Is it really breaking in if you told me where your spare key is and never lock the door anyway?"
"Don't use logic against me at this hour."
