The Limiter

All contestants who sign up for this iteration of the game will be provided with a 'special gift', when they reach the staging facilities. A monitoring device, which serves numerous functions, not the least of which is limiting some of their powers and abilities. This limiter device comes in many different designs, to fit your preferences — most common being the standard collar or a bracelet or band worn around the wrist/forearm or ankle.

Regardless of its form, its effects will remain the same. It is nigh-indestructible, but attempting to damage or remove it yourself will still carry some consequences. We don't recommend finding out what those consequences are, if you'd like to avoid sabotaging your chances for victory.

This time around, aside from any abilities negated or limited by the Limiter, contestants will be wholly unhindered. They can keep their equipment and item-based abilities on hand.

In total, the following abilities are completely negated:
• Concealment
• Healing
• Sense
•Teleportation

The following abilities have some limits to their function:
• Communication functions, though the signal will be sporadic and unreliable; trying to contact anyone else involved in the event will be liable to fail completely, regardless of current signal strength
• Flight is restricted to Rank 2, and the Ongoing modifier is disabled
• Speed is limited to Rank 2
• Variable Creation is limited to Rank 3
• Summoning still works as intended, but be wary -- your Summons can and very well may die, and in the instance they do will remain dead for the duration of the event.

Consumables, Trinkets and Relics

Consumables of any kind are welcome to be used, if you see fit to buy and bring any. Make sure to keep track of them if you do so, and note that they will obviously be considered used up 'for real' if you use them during the event.

Similarly, you can certainly bring in your fancy Trinkets and/or Relics if you have them, and they can be used as normal. Just bear in mind the risks, as if you die during the event you lose them. And if you end up killed by another contestant, then your relic goes to them, as per normal site rules. If you die and lose your fancy prize in the course of other events, however, never fear — it isn't lost for good. If you've a mind to recover it, it will be out there, with a forthcoming quest for you to go retrieve it.

Focus

When used, Focus does not regenerate normally. In this instance, "the scene" refers to your entire stint in the Death Game. Once used, it's gone for good. There are certain support items or other rewards, however, which might work to restore it if you can find them. Your 'cap' on Focus is locked in at the time of the Death Game's start; this means, even if you should level up during its course, your uses of Focus will not increase, nor can any items increase it beyond your cap at the event's start.

When you want to use Focus, you will be obligated to inform me in some way, usually by making a note in your post, or sending in a request to cue it up in case you run into something. Focus can give you an edge, or help compensate for injuries or a poor matchup, but it won't swing you a win all on its own.

If you haven't cued up your Focus ahead of time, and you get into a fight that scares you, at that point it's too late to send in your uses of it.
In the event of an event/prompt you get dropped on you, however, you can cue up your focus at the end of your post as normal.

Notes

Be aware that if push comes to shove, I can and probably will have your characters use Focus if it would let them get out alive when they might otherwise die, even if you don't have it cued up. Letting them go out when they still have that trick available seems incredibly silly, and not at all like a good show for the fans.

A use of Focus can also let you temporarily overcome the restrictions of the Limiter, on top of its normal uses. If you want to use your Focus to do something specific like this, be sure to include it in your cued up usage of it.
