His relationship with the law was sometimes rocky, but the average citizen respected and commended his efforts and skills highly. Versed in a great many skills, ranging from boxing to fencing to music to science to culinary arts and blessed with a self-professed remarkable sense of sight and smell, he could make startling observations and reach conclusions that seemed utterly outlandish but which inevitably always lead to the truth. With some...extra guidance to correct his course and train of thought, on some occasions. He was a pioneering advocate of, and true master of, abductive reasoning -- the art of making the most plausible conclusion from the information, and presenting the most likely outcome or answer for what has been present, even if it does sometimes require outside the box thinking to achieve.
