IC Rules

All HRGP Offical Teams are expected to obey and follow these regulations for the general safety and fairness of the competition. Whether or not you actually do so is a matter of subterfuge and daring...

1. All HRGP Teams shall submit diligent record keeping of their expenses and maintenance during the event.

2. During HRGP Events, Pilots shall not intentionally target pilot seats or cockpits with attacks that would kill the pilot inside a rival machine.

3. HRGP Teams shall keep their machines under control in a secure hangar environment when not competing.

4. The sanctity and secrecy of other teams and their machines is important in the pursuit of fair play and competition. Espionage is not permitted.

5. Threats, violence, or complicit means of disrupting rival teams outside of Event arenas will not be tolerated. The safety of all competitors and their support staff is vital.

OOC Expectations and Timing

The HRGP is a long-term recurring event, that is not structure like the survival, battle royale tournaments hosted by Syntech or Carnivale Rosa. Instead, taking part in the HRGP is a collaborative, team-based event that will follow a greater plotline across multiple threads, more similar to the Olympics.

This event is experimental and bound to be fairly complicated, so there will probably be adjustments along the way. Luckily, flex-time will very much be in effect, and no HRGP threads will lock your character out of other storylines. As long as your team members are alive, it can be assumed that they found time to show up for HRGP events when called. The format and general order of operations will be as follows.

Event Registration

To register an HRGP Team, please send a PM to Elise using the following layout. Certain details of the require information will be explained below:

Team Name:

Desired Sponsor:

Machine Name:

Pilot:

Engineer:

Tactician:

Technician:

Making a Team

An HRGP team can be comprised of any number of characters, both PC and NPC, but four will have practical ‘jobs’. At a minimum, each team requires at least one Pilot and one Engineer before the start of competition. You MAY create and utilize NPCs to fill team positions, but any winnings will still be split as if they were PC characters.

Other team members may join the team after the event has started. A single character CAN fill multiple roles on a single team, but I will consider these characters to be heavily overworked, and thus, not operating at their best for any of these jobs. These positions are detailed below:
  • Pilots must have some level of skill mastery in piloting their respective machine, and will be responsible for being in command of their machine during HRGP event threads.

  • Engineers must have at least three different categories for relevant Machine development (i.e. Electronics, Robotics, Aeronautics, Energy Weapons, etc.) Engineers are chiefly responsible for providing tactical updates to the pilot and using available Coin to develop new modules and repairs.

  • Tacticians must have Skill Mastery in some type of information or tactical warfare, such as Electronic Warfare, Radar Operations, Siege Tactics, Mechanized Warfare, etc. These team members are responsible for surveying the conditions of the battlefield and providing up-to-date information to their pilots, which provides a credible bonus to any judgements as to the outcomes of an event.

  • Technicians are the surgeons and repairfolk of their teams. Whereas the Engineers design and develop new systems, it is the Technician that crawls into the cooling ducts and patches machines up after their sorties. To fill this role, a character must have skill mastery in a relevant skillset such as Mechanical Repairs, Robotics, Machining, CompTech, etc. Having a skilled Technician on your roster provides a 15% discount to repairs and modifications to existing systems.

Declaring a Sponsor
As part of your application process, you will declare who is sponsoring the construction and maintenance of your team's machine. This can be a single, wealthy NPC, a Faction or a Company that exists somewhere in the crossroads. These entities are considered to be providing you the extraordinary reserves of Coin needed to finance a machine in the HRGP. If you truly wish to use a Player Character or Player Faction as a sponsor, please be aware that your expenses may exceed 50,000 Coin over the course of the GP, although Teams may pool their coinage as need be. The benefit of this option is that you get to keep your machine after the event.

There are some sponsors already interested in the HRGP who can provide interesting additional benefits to your team, but they are also a bit more picky. Having a Respected or higher influence status with any of these groups will automatically qualify you. Otherwise, it is likely that they will ask a favor of you before or after the competition. The current list of Special Sponsors and who they are patronizing is available on the Event Status Page.

Building a Machine

Machines will be developed in secret after application approval, with purchases and approvals done with Elise and other referees via PM.

There are some unique rules for this event that are different than the usual rules for building a Mobile Base (in the interest of keeping things generally affordable). Most Machines would normally qualify as a x3 Size Mobile Base, but should instead essentially be built and priced as normal characters.

The drawback is that the Machine will not be usable outside of the HRGP for general reasons, which is reflective of the Grand Prix's maintenance and general personnel assistance Teams will receive during the event. Additionally, Growth and Adaptations should be purchased for the machine whereas a normal Mobile Base may not require these.

Repairs and expenditures on modifications to a Machine must be logged on the Team's Roster page. If a team wishes to keep an expenditure classified, they may simply mark the amount spent, but they must PM me what the expenditure is for.

Please refer to the NPC Team rosters for examples. All Machines entered for qualification in the Grand Prix must meet the following minimum specifications:

  • At least 80% Pilot controlled. No fully autonomous machines.
  • Maximum budget of 20,000 at start
  • Must have at least one of each system: Weapons, Armor, Mobility, Comms, Environmental Protection
  • Must have ongoing Growth size between 5 (50 feet) and 8 (150 feet)

Competing in Periodic Events

After Teams, Machines and Sponsors are finalized, the main series of events will begin with the grand opening in Markov, starting with the All-Terrain marathon. Details and rules such as posting quantity and time limits for each event will detailed as their respective threads are posted. There will be a 1-2 month gap in between events to allow for repairs, upgrades, and time to recharge the writing zeal. Total point values will be calculated after the final event and announced at the Awards Ceremony.

Damage and Upgrades

Given that most events allow for a certain amount of violence between competing Machines, onboard systems will be assigned damage after each event, potentially making them unavailable for subsequent events until repair costs are funded by the sponsor.

Teams will be periodically allowed to upgrade and modify their Machine loadouts after each event during the Grand Prix up to a certain Coinage amount provided by their sponsor, though this is not mandatory.

Scoring and Winnings

Each machine is ranked based on total performance score per event. Each event grants points towards total tournament score, based on number of teams. Example:
1st - 20 pts.
2nd - 15 pts.
3rd - 10 pts.
4th - 8 pts.
5th - 7 pts.
6th - 6 pts.
7th - 5 pts.
8th - 0 pts.

Finally, there will be a points bonus given to teams who have managed to spend the least amount of Coin during the Grand Prix, tallying the base cost of the Machine, repairs and upgrades.

First Place: 20,000 per Team Member

Second Place: 10,000 per Team Member

Third Place: 5,000 per Team Member
