Juneberry "Juno" Hawthorne
An original character of a fae, hailing from an imploded roleplay.
Character Behavior
Juneberry is a Daring Artificer. She can be effusive, intelligent, witty, but she mostly chooses to be a mild nuisance. Juneberry dares to be ambitious, successful, and wants more from this life than just survival. Her ultimate goal is to leave Multerra and return home. For her rebelliousness, Juno truly believes obtaining knowledge is the only way out of Multerra. But to gain knowledge means traversing the universe, and that requires a lot more coin than the average Joe. So begins her quest for her her less-than-ultimate-but-still-pretty-good goal: become obscenely wealthy. Priorities in order.
Physical Description
Juneberry looks, for nearly all intents and purposes, as a human-sized fairy. Her body is fairly thin and light, but she's put on some muscle from working in her father's mechanic shop.
Her skin is a light shade of purple, sclera a black with lavender irises and white pupils. Her hair's an off-white, thick and curly, dropping down to past her shoulders - her right side is usually locked with braids.
More often than not she has a series of colored swirls across her face, like mock freckles. They’re a result of her father’s magic, but he can remove them upon request. She likes to keep them on, though - it marks them as family.
Juneberry has, of course, pointed ears. She even sports pointed, sharp teeth. She's a very angularly shaped person. It's not often shown, but on her back are two very long, very thin scars; remnants of a surgery long past. You'd figure they're where her wings would be, if she had them.
Character History
Once upon a time, Juneberry had a whole family.
She doesn't really remember much of her mom. She remembers being thrown into the air, being taught how to fly, a warm smile or a fuzzy embrace here and there. She can remember, faintly, the sound of a voice, the brush of a hand, little, tiny things. They had the same quirk. But she doesn't remember her mother that well.
What she knows is what her father told her. That her mother was the most beautiful, fearless, strong-willed person he knew. That the two of them used to work together. They were unstoppable.
Even in the beautiful utopia of the world that was Juno's home, poverty and desperation can creep in. By day, their family was a well-mannered florist and mech shop; but at night, the streets were prowled by only the hungriest of society. Their family did what they had to, to survive. Her father's voice always lost that sweet tone, at this part.
Juneberry was hardly 6 the day a group of common gang members stormed their hideout and almost killed them all; her mother was shot down trying to help her escape, and in the process, Juneberry lost her wings.
After that, the memories become clearer. Juneberry remembers the excruciating pain, the bandages, crying for days. Her father cradling her body. Moving far, far away. Hiding. Learning to craft. Learning to fight. Learning to kill, if she had to. Most of all, learning that there was no one to count on but yourself; there were no heroes, no angels, no laws.
Even after all the running, though, their past hunted them down, Juno and her father were caught while testing out a flying car of theirs. Her father turned and shoved her into an escape pod, slamming the eject button before she even had a chance to try and protest. When she landed, she was in Multerra.
Juneberry refuses to sit down and die. Most of all, she refuses to let her father wither away without the chance to say goodbye.
