“Do you think we took the right path?”
“Isn’t interdemon-antidim, weird portals in reality your thing?”
“It’s hard to think.”
The duo marched with their army, occasionally taking rest to scout out their surroundings. They were on their own now, a company lost in no man’s land. Help from any other party was no longer an option, at least for now.
“We got the best squad out there! Of course we took the right path! That cocky guy with the gold armor is clearly compensating.”
Wraith stifled a laugh, still having some trouble as she stumbled for a moment.
“Woah, hey, be careful, alright? These guys still need their general.”
“They need you, Mirage.”
“Me? Well, I mean, yeah, me. But what are you talking about?”
“They need you as much as I do, Mirage. I can’t lead them, not like this.”
“Alright, stop talking nonsense, you’re fine, it’s just a scratch. A really deep scratch.”
Wraith sat on a nearby boulder, taking a deep breath. A nearby soldier came up to them and saluted.
“We see some villagers nearby, we might be able to help them, if you deem it so, General Wraith.”
“Not me, it’s him you should be reporting to.”
“General?”
“Did I stutter, sergeant? You now report to General Mirage. He will be deciding what our next steps are.”
Both Mirage and the sergeant looked in disbelief.
“You have to be the general now, Mirage. I can support you where I can, but you need to make the plans right now. I can’t- ugh.” She shook her head as a sharp pain erupted from her leg. Mirage quickly tried to check on her before she put a hand up.
“I’m fine, it’s going to be like this until I heal up a bit more. Stuff doesn’t heal like it does in the games. We have to use normal meds here.”
Mirage nodded, “Well, I guess I can go ahead and take command. I bet the troops will be pretty impressed! I mean, we just have to wait it out a bit, right? I haven’t seen a bloodhound, so we should be pretty set to go ahead and see if we can jump in on some third party battles, right?”
“It’s going to be a lot harder than that, but, yes. That’s the general idea.”
“More like General Mirage.” Mirage spoke with a wink.
“Speaking of, sir. Your orders for the villagers nearby?”
“Well, I’m sure they would apple-apric, they would really like to not be eaten by weird clown things or dragons. Mirage to the rescue!”
