"Ghost Ship"
Quest Giver: N/A
Quest Length: 5,000 - 15,000 words
Quest Location: The Beyond
Quest Prerequisites: N/A
Quest Description: As you cruise through the vastness of the Beyond in your space-faring craft of choice, you intercept a muddled signal originating from a vessel drifting in the void of space. This ship, the Celeste, is reminiscent of an old-fashioned galleon with rippling solar sails and metallic embellishments. It meanders aimlessly across the stars, eerily intact, its lights and life support systems still operational.
Upon boarding, the ship's interior is a bizarre blend of sleek technology and classic seafaring aesthetics, a starliner design typical of Govermorne. Brass accents and holographic navigation panels coexist with wooden embellishments and fine porcelain, no signs of struggle or distress readily apparent.
The ship's corridors echo with the hum of machinery, but are utterly devoid of the usual hustle and bustle of passengers or crew.
You must navigate through the various sections of the ship, from the lavish captain's quarters to the humble crew's bunks. Personal belongings have been abandoned, security protocols still in place, and games of holographic chess left unfinished. According to the ship's records, everything was running smoothly up until a certain date several months ago, after which the log abruptly ceases updating. As you delve deeper into your investigation, subtle clues begin to reveal themselves... half-finished transmissions, weird symbols etched into the walls, and a lingering energy residue that permeates the air.
Checking the navigational charts is possible upon visiting the bridge, which will reveal an uncharted anomaly in space—a rift between the stars that may have played a role in the crew's disappearance. With the right decryption, you can uncover communications regarding an unidentified celestial phenomenon causing strange disturbances in the ship's systems, which the ship navigated around... only for the rift to chase them.
The ship's AI, also still operational, reveals fragments of a rejected decision to deploy escape pods. And indeed, in the ship's docking bay, the escape pods remain tethered.
What the hell happened here...?
