Rogue
Origin: Marvel Comics
Finalist: Dante's Abyss XVII
------------------------------

Appearance

A beautiful young woman in her early twenties, Rogue's most striking feature is the shock of pure white hair at the front of her head, contrasting sharply with the rest of her darker brown hair. She tends to favor green and yellow as the primary colors of her outfits, though when trying to keep a lower profile she will shy away from anything too flashy.

Personality

Rogue is an isolated brawler. Her mutant power renders her unable to touch others without causing significant harm to them. Despite her naturally gregarious, self-described "southern belle" personality, she keeps people at a distance for fear of the danger her powers pose. Rogue's insecurity is hidden behind her general confidence and direct means of interaction, and it would be easy to mistake her as fearless. In truth, she is extremely fearful of her powers while also heavily reliant on them to achieve her goals. The wonder of new opportunities her powers provide her and the curse of isolation they impose upon her form a difficult balance for her to manage. She does not hold any illusions of being able to ignore them and "live a normal life" so she finds purpose in what she is.
Rogue is an unapologetic warrior when fighting starts, able to take and give punches even before factoring in her mutant abilities. She does not like to be pushed around or manipulated, and will deliver her thoughts on a matter with a fist. She adapts well to different combat situations, able to change her fighting style to accommodate any abilities she might have stolen from the other combatants. She is capable of approaching a situation tactically when required but will tend to favor direct attacks over complicated strategies.

Possible Reactions

Rogue doesn't frighten easily, and has a bit of a chip on her shoulder. She isn't stupid, but she's quite confident in her powers, and that can lead to her acting a bit more carelessly than is wise in life and death situations. Her repeated survival during situations that are famous for their mortality rates have only served to reinforce this over-confidence. If people are more friendly, Rogue will joke and lightly flirt with people pretty easily, but tends to keep anyone from getting too close for fear of her power's effects on them.

Relationships

Rogue has worked together with both Chara and Aster in her previous Dante's Abyss appearance, and harbors enough guilt over how the event went for the two of them that she would be very hesitant to fight them. She would also prefer to avoid fighting Trevor O'skully (Shinku) if she were to come across him again, but would still fight if push came to shove. She fought several other contestants during her previous DA experience, but would be willing to face any of them again without much concern. During her DG experience she got along well enough with Zombie Kevin, and Shadow, but would be willing to fight either of them still. The majority of the other DG contestants she encountered were too brief to affect her interactions with them significantly going forward.

'Combat’ Style

Rogue is no stranger to a good fight, even before she discovered her mutant powers. She hasn't killed anyone before, so the brutality of DA may eventually get to her, but she's not afraid to take and give a few lumps. Rogue looks forwards to seeing how well her powers match up to the other contestants. If she sees an interesting display of powers from them, Rogue might act somewhat rashly in order to get a chance to try them for herself. She isn't particularly interested in hurting innocents, but similarly she isn't likely to sacrifice herself to save them without good reason. She's especially determined this year to win the championship or die trying, so Rogue will be quite unlikely to back down from a challenge. She isn't going to throw her life away, stubbornly holding a fight a battle she's clearly going to lose, but she will be willing to take very extreme, potentially foolhardy risks to prove that she can actually back up her talk.

Total Cost: 2250

Description: Rogue's Mutant power is the ability to involuntarily absorb the powers, energies, memories, knowledge, talents, personality, physical abilities, and psyche of any living person she touches. This power works for both superhuman abilities, and for more mundane skills, such as driving a racecar or cooking like a gourmet chef. Rogue does not have any control over the activation of this power, absorbing the abilities and sometimes aspects of the personality or physical appearance of anyone she comes into skin-to-skin contact with. This process can be difficult for Rogue, and is incredibly draining for her target, rendering most ordinary people unconscious, though particularly noteworthy individuals have been able to endure and maintain consciousness in the past.
Rogue retains the abilities she has stolen for roughly one minute for each second of contact, though this is more of a guideline than a reliable timer, so there are likely other metrics affecting the precise length of time. Though Rogue is generally able to control her new powers with the training she has stolen from her target, particularly powerful abilities can sometimes prove difficult for her to manage or control. Similarly, the elements of borrowed personality can at times break through when they have particularly strong emotional responses to the situation. It is unlikely that any of these personas could completely overrule Rogue's own, but they can affect her decisions and actions at times. After a length of time, Rogue's stolen abilities will fade, though the aspects of her stolen personalities can linger for longer, and occasionally show up unbidden when she is under sufficient emotional distress.

Gilgamesh opens various portals around the area of his target, with golden chains throwing themselves out to bind around the limbs of their target. For divine or god-like enemies, these chains can feel impossible to escape, as they constrict tightly around these opponents. For common mortals, these chains just slow them down and are easier to tear off.

As D.A.V.E. was specifically designed to be an amalgam of the many contestants that had participated in the Carnivale Rosa's Death Game, it would be very easy to surmise that the robot possessed no original abilities. While the power may have come from other sources, the plotting and organization required to engineer the takeover of the event did not come from prior participants. D.A.V.E. is very adept at engineering a situation and maneuvering a foe, whether physically or mentally, into a situation that is to D.A.V.E.'s advantage.

Rogue must carefully monitor how much power she absorbs from a person, for her own safety as well as theirs. Taking too much can have a very bad effect on her, both physically and mentally. Despite her bravado she is scared about what this kind of action could do to her, and to her victim. if placed into dire enough straits she could potentially do so, which allows her to copy large amounts of her victim's abilities as well as quite heavily debilitating her target.

Super Focus Application - When Rogue absorbs someone's powers, she also takes on a bit of their psyche. The powers and personality traits do fade over time, but residual parts of them remain, and these small elements continue to build up on one another. After absorbing a variety of powers and personalities from DAVE, Rogue has a large number of these residual personas. If her concentration is sufficiently disrupted she may lose control of herself among the many personalities, at which time she displays remnants of their powers as well. (Super Attack)

Extra – She speaks with a somewhat pronounced southern draw. Nothing too extreme, but it does tend to flavor her speech noticeably. She's got a penchant for one-liners as well when she's doing well in a fight.

Quotes – "Hey, Sugah."

Threads/Post - DA '22 and DG '24 have been her most significant appearances by far, but Child of the Atom informs the mindset that has pushed Rogue into signing up for DA once again.
