The sight of his disciple being reduced to blood and gore was enough to make Shinku's blood run cold, his heart sinking with a heavy weight of despair. The screen in the tavern flickered with static, but the horror of what he saw was unmistakable.

"No..." he whispered, his voice barely audible over the crackle of the screen. "Elise..."

The realization of her death hit him like a physical blow, leaving him reeling with grief and disbelief.

As the broadcast continued, showing the remaining members of the group thrown into chaos, Shinku felt a surge of anger wash over him. He clenched his fists tightly, his knuckles turning white with the force of his emotions. Regret gnawed at him like a relentless beast. He couldn't shake the feeling that he should have been there for her more, that he should have done everything in his power to prevent her from joining the Death Game in the first place.

"If only I was there," he thought bitterly, his fists clenching in frustration. "If only I had been able to protect her..."

"This can’t be!," he bellowed, his voice trembling with intensity. "I will find a way to bring her back!"

Turning from the screen, Shinku's gaze fell upon Callon. The soldier stood at attention, his expression unreadable but showing signs that he already knew that Shinku would give out a command.

"Callon," Shinku said, his voice firm with resolve. "I need you to do something for me."

The soldier nodded, his eyes narrowing slightly as he listened intently.

"I need you to search for any information you can find on a man named Birke," Shinku continued, his tone urgent. "He's a merchant traveling across the crossroads. He must have something that can help us bring her back."

Callon’s brow furrowed in concentration as he processed the request. "Understood," he replied, his voice steady. "I'll begin the search immediately."

"Well, well, well, looks like our fearless leader has gone and gotten himself attached to the lady," Jack jeered, his tone dripping with mockery as he swaggered into view.

Shinku's jaw clenched in frustration at the interruption, but he maintained his composure, refusing to let Jack's taunts get to him. He knew better than to engage with the annoying pirate, especially in his current state of mind.

"Come now, Shinku, don't tell me you've gone soft on us," Jack continued, his grin widening as he circled around Shinku like a predator toying with its prey. "What happened to the ruthless warrior who would stop at nothing to achieve his goals? Looks like love's made you go all mushy."

"Hey! This isn’t the time to be joking around, Jack!," Michael said, his voice tinged with irritation. "Shouldn’t you be thinking of a way to help him instead?."

Shinku raised a hand to stop the soldier’s tirade before it could gain momentum. "It's fine, Callon. We have more pressing matters to attend to," he said calmly, his gaze fixed on the screen in front of the tavern. "Just carry on with your task," he instructed, his voice steady despite the undercurrent of tension in the air.

Callon nodded, his features softening with understanding. "Understood, Shinku. I'll get right on it," he replied, turning to leave the chamber. The soldier swiftly made his exit, leaving Shinku alone with Jack and his mocking laughter echoing in the tavern.

As the soldier disappeared from view, Shinku's thoughts returned to Elise, his heart heavy with regret. He couldn't shake the feeling that he should have done more to protect her, to keep her from joining the death game in the first place.

As if on cue, a chilling voice echoed in Shinku's mind, sending a shiver down his spine. The voice of Orochi suddenly rang inside his mind with a deep, menacing bass that pierced through the silence of his thoughts.

‘Perhaps you should listen to Jack,’ Orochi hissed, his words dripping with malice and contempt. ‘Maybe he's right. You've grown too attached to that woman. It's clouding your judgment.’

Shinku clenched his fists, pushing back against the insidious whispers of Orochi. He refused to let the demon's taunts weaken his resolve.

‘This is none of your concern, Orochi,’ Shinku retorted, his voice firm and resolute.

‘Of course. how foolish of me when we already had this conversation. Orochi replied, his tone continuously dripping with sarcasm. "But how long do you think you can keep that lust for power?’

Shinku tightened his grip on his emotions, refusing to let Orochi's words unsettle him. But as much as he tried to think of it, he held no answer to that last question. From the beginning, it is power that he sought. Despite his resolve, he couldn't deny the truth in Orochi's words. The allure of power had always been present, driving him forward through countless battles and trials. Yet, as he faced the shadow demon's taunts, a seed of doubt began to gnaw at his thoughts.

How long could he resist the temptation? How long could he maintain his grip on his principles and ideals in the face of such power?
The questions lingered in his mind, casting a shadow over his certainty. But even as doubt threatened to consume him, Shinku refused to waver. He would find the strength to overcome this inner conflict, to prove to himself and to Orochi that his resolve was unbreakable.

Orochi then chuckled darkly, the sound echoing within Shinku's mind. "We shall see," he murmured cryptically before falling silent once more.

As Shinku wrestled with his inner turmoil, Jack's voice pierced through his thoughts once more, snapping him back to the present. The pirate's tone had shifted from mocking to one of genuine concern, a stark contrast to his earlier jests.

"Oi, mate, you alright?" Jack asked, his expression now serious as he studied Shinku's troubled demeanor. "You've gone all quiet on me. I know you're usually the strong and silent type, but this ain't like you."

Shinku blinked, momentarily taken aback by Jack's unexpected display of concern. "I'm fine, Jack," Shinku replied, forcing a reassuring smile despite the turmoil churning within him. "Just lost in thought for a moment, that's all. But I think we’ve got to go."

"Right we do, mate," Jack said, his tone gruff but supportive. "Let's skaboosh from ‘ere then. So where away we?"

Shinku's gaze hardened as he turned to Jack. "I know where the Death Game is happening," he said, his voice low but resolute. "While Callon searches for Birke, we need to get clues from Carnival Rosa. There might be something there that could help us find a way to revive Elise."

Jack's eyebrows shot up in surprise at Shinku's revelation, but he quickly composed himself, nodding in understanding.

"Aye, mate, sounds like a plan," Jack replied, his tone serious. "Let's focus on finding those clues and getting Elise back. No time to waste."

Meanwhile, on another end of the tavern were two very loud men with big mouths similarly staring at the big moving picture boxes all showing their king walking together with some others.
The Spartan captain, Artemis, a towering figure with a commanding presence, clenched his fists in frustration as he stared at the moving box. His eyes, accustomed to the battlefields of ancient Greece, now struggled to comprehend the vivid images and sounds emanating from the screen.

"By the gods, why are we stuck on the sidelines? These death games are meant for warriors like us!" bellowed the Spartan captain, his voice echoing through the room.

His loyal cohort, Aristodemus, a seasoned fighter with a scarred face and a determined gaze, nodded in agreement. "Aye, Captain! We should be in there, fighting alongside our king. This moving box mocks us with its impenetrable barrier."

A regular guy stared back at the historical warriors “Forget it, the games already started, besides you ain’t getting in.”

One of the men was getting antsy as he heard “Oh, would you look at that, the ancient King has been eliminated in a strange turn of events.”

The other yelled “MADNESS!”
“Wait, what does elimination mean?”

The man smirked “It means your king doesn’t get the prize offered for winning the game, he’s still alive, look, there’s a guy with a plasma blade, a weird soldier guy and other employees, see?”

The Spartans stared back “Hey, he’s right, there he is on the screen.”

The captain sighed, eying a strange man just looking up at the television.

The red caped man with gold plated armor looked over at Shinku and blinked “Hello, who might you be?”

Just as he was about to stand and leave his seat, Shinku heard the voice of the spartan and felt his gaze directed towards him. He then turned to meet the gaze of the Spartan captain, his expression calm yet tinged with a hint of intrigue. "I am Trevor," he replied evenly, his voice carrying a quiet confidence. "And I am but a humble traveler on a quest of my own."

“Artimus. My name is Captain Artimus. I am part of the famous Royal guard Spartans of the 300. I see you too are watching the games or this moving box?

You too seek answers?”

"Aye, a bunch of blokes in funny armor fighting for a prize. Seems like a real barrel of laughs, doesn't it?" Jack suddenly interjected with a drunken response, causing Shinku a furrowed brow.

The assassin of shadows then raised a hand, silencing Jack before turning back to Captain Artimus. "Forgive my friend's jest, I’d say we know someone competing in that game however, it seemed that she’s suffered a terrible fate.”

Captain Artimus furrowed his brow in concern upon hearing Shinku's words. "A terrible fate, you say? This complicates matters. If one of our own has fallen victim to these treacherous games, we cannot stand idly by. We will not rest until we have uncovered the truth and avenged our fallen comrade."

The Spartan then looked up “Our king… he’s in that box moving. Do you know Leonidas by any chance?”

Shinku shook his head, his expression thoughtful. "I do not know Leonidas personally, but I have seen him within the game. He seemed to be somewhat close to my disciple, Elise."

He paused, his gaze flickering to the screen where Leonidas was shown battling alongside other contestants. "From what I have observed, he appears to be a formidable warrior, worthy of respect and admiration."

The man nodded “We’ve fought together years and years ago. Then we heard he was fighting here so we wanted to join him.But I’m sure he’d appreciate hearing that from you”

Shinku nodded in understanding, seemingly forgetting that he had a plan of his own in motion. "It is clear that your loyalty to your king runs deep, Captain Artimus.”

Captain Artimus nodded, a flicker of determination in his eyes. "Aye, indeed. Unity is our strength, and in unity, we shall prevail. If fate permits it, we shall fight in the battlefield together, as warriors bound by honor and duty." With a firm nod, he turned back to the screen, his focus returning to the ongoing events of the death game.

"Aye, bound by honor and duty, indeed," Jack interjected with a smirk, his voice dripping with sarcasm as he leaned back in his chair. "Sounds like your Spartan friend instead chose to go off and chase glory in the death game, leaving you landlubbers behind."

Shinku shot Jack a warning glance, his eyes narrowing slightly. "Enough, Jack," he said firmly, his tone leaving no room for argument. "My apologies for my acquaintance’ tongue. He’s just a bit drunk. But anyway, we have matters of our own to attend to. It’s nice meeting you here."

Captain Artimus nodded, his expression stoic but understanding. "No need for apologies, friend. We Spartans are not unfamiliar with the company of rowdy companions," he replied with a faint hint of amusement. "And it was a pleasure meeting you as well. May your endeavors be fruitful."

Shinku offered Captain Artimus a respectful nod. "Thank you for the conversation, Captain," he said, his tone courteous. "I pray we meet again. For now, we shall take our leave."

With that, Shinku turned to leave, casting one last glance at Jack, who seemed to understand the meaning of the gesture. Then, they both made their way out of the tavern, leaving the Spartans to watch the rest of the death game.

“You need to learn when to hold your tongue, Jack," Shinku chided softly. "Mockery and jest have their place, but not with people who haven’t even wronged us a bit."

“Arrr! The pirate’s just havin’ a bit of fun,” Jack murmured, his tone contrite. "But I'll mind me words better next time."

Shinku let out a heavy sigh as they stepped out into the bustling streets, the noise of the tavern fading behind them. "I doubt that. But let’s focus on reviving Elise for now."

The assassin of shadows led Jack into a dark alley within Arcadia, where almost none of the Arcadians dared to thread. After a few turns into the alley, Shinku stopped for a while to check for any presence around them. Once satisfied, he then let out a sharp whistle.

Suddenly, a faint shimmer of darkness materialized in front of them. Gradually, the darkness coalesced into the form of a majestic steed, its silhouette shifting and solidifying until Shinku’s shadowsteed stood before them.

“Let’s go,” Shinku uttered, motioning Jack to join him. With a flick of his wrist, Shinku swung onto the creature's back, his cloak billowing behind him.

Jack nodded, a grin spreading across his face as he followed Shinku's lead. With a swift movement, he hoisted himself onto the shadowsteed behind Shinku, gripping onto its sleek form tightly.

As Shinku spurred the shadowsteed forward, the creature surged into motion, its powerful strides carrying them effortlessly through the air. They soared above the city, the wind whipping past them as they navigated the night sky.

The lights of the city below twinkled like stars, casting a mesmerizing glow over the landscape. They darted between buildings and over rooftops, weaving through the urban sprawl with the grace of a seasoned duo.

Jack couldn't help but let out a whoop of excitement, his laughter carried away by the rushing wind. He leaned into the ride, his senses heightened by the exhilarating speed and freedom of flight.

As they left the bustling city behind, the landscape below shifted from clusters of illuminated buildings to sprawling expanses of darkness broken only by the occasional glimmer of distant lights. The shadowsteed glided effortlessly over the urban outskirts, its form barely discernible against the night sky.

They soon reached the outskirts of the city, where the terrain gave way to dense forests blanketed in shadows. The shadowsteed maneuvered effortlessly between the towering trees, its movements fluid and precise as it navigated the labyrinthine canopy.

The forest soon gave way to an expansive, arid wasteland, where the earth cracked and parched under the moon's pale gaze. The shadowsteed carried them swiftly across the desolate landscape, its hoofbeats echoing faintly against the barren terrain.

As they pressed onward, the distant glow of Carnival Rosa's lights beckoned on the horizon, a beacon of warmth and color amidst the desolation. The shadowsteed quickened its pace, its determination matched only by the resolve of its riders.

Finally, they arrived at the site of Carnival Rosa, where the vibrant colors and lively atmosphere stood in stark contrast to the barren wilderness they had traversed. With a final surge of speed, the shadowsteed landed gracefully near the entrance, its task complete for the moment.

Shinku and Jack dismounted, their journey across the varied landscape coming to an end. The air buzzed with anticipation. The colorful lights and vibrant atmosphere belied the darkness lurking beneath the surface of the death game site.

Shinku glanced around, his eyes scanning the area for any signs of activity. With a nod to Jack, he summoned a shadow portal, the dark energy swirling around him as he prepared to infiltrate the base.

In turn, Jack activated his armband, ready to teleport wherever Shinku led him. With a silent understanding between them, Shinku stepped into the shadows, disappearing from view, with Jack following closely behind.

As Shinku emerged on the other side, he expected an empty corridor of Carnival Rosa's base, but instead, he was greeted by a familiar figure, standing before him. He tensed, caught off guard by the unexpected encounter. He hadn't anticipated anyone detecting their infiltration.

Jack appeared shortly after, right beside Shinku. Oblivious to the tension in the air, the pirate attempted to open his mouth to speak, only to be silenced by a swift gesture from Shinku. The assassin of shadows remained wary, his gaze locked on the figure in front of him, as he assessed the situation.

The mysterious man regarded them with a knowing smile, his eyes glinting with amusement. "Well, well, well, what do we have here?" he mused, his tone dripping with amusement. "I didn’t expect to be visited here by the famous Shin…or rather Trevor O’ Skully."

Shinku remained silent, his mind racing as he considered their next move. The mysterious man on the other hand, chuckled softly, the sound echoing in the dimly lit chamber. "Come now, Trevor, no need to be so tense," he said, his tone surprisingly light despite the circumstances. "It's not as if we haven't met before."

Shinku's eyes narrowed slightly, a flicker of recognition crossing his features. “Helix,” Shinku responded coolly, his tone guarded. “What are you doing here?”

Jack, sensing the tension in the air, interjected with a hint of curiosity. "Yeah, spill the beans, mate," he chimed in, his expression expectant. "What's the deal?"

Ignoring Jack's inquiry for the moment, Helix turned his attention back to Shinku, his smile never faltering. "I work here of course. Come on man, I literally brought you here the last time," he chuckled, yet his eyes gleamed with an unknown agenda. "Shouldn’t we try to catch up before anything else?"

Shinku regarded Helix with a mixture of suspicion and curiosity. "How did you know we were coming?" he inquired, his voice firm but tinged with a hint of uncertainty.

Helix's smile widened, his demeanor playful yet enigmatic. "Ah, you still haven't learned anything my friend. You should know by now that we have our ways of keeping tabs on certain individuals," he replied cryptically, his gaze never wavering from Shinku's. "But enough about that. I believe you need something from us."

Shinku's suspicion deepened at Helix's response, but he remained composed, his mind racing with possibilities. "Indeed, we do," he acknowledged, his tone guarded. "We seek for the body of Elise."

Helix chuckled at Shinku's request, shaking his head slightly. "Ah, I'm afraid you will not find her here," he replied with a smirk. "You know that the site of the death game is in an entirely different location, don’t you?"

Shinku's brow furrowed in frustration, but he kept his composure, his gaze steady on Helix. "But that place can be accessed from here. Am I right?" he asked, his tone guarded.

Helix's smile widened, his eyes gleaming with mischief. "Of course that can be accessed from here," he responded. "I can actually help you with that, but know that assistance from Carnival Rosa comes at a price."

Shinku's jaw clenched slightly at the mention of a price, but he knew he had little choice if he wanted to find Elise's body. "So what’s the price," he said, his voice tense but determined.

Helix's smile widened at Shinku's response, his eyes gleaming with satisfaction. "Ah, I knew you'd see reason," he said, his tone smooth and confident. "It’s just simple really. You just need to join again in next year's Carnival Rosa event."

Shinku's gaze narrowed slightly, a hint of suspicion creeping into his expression. "Well, I guess I have no choice anyway. But why the invitation again?" he asked cautiously.

Helix chuckled softly at Shinku's question, his demeanor relaxed yet still subtly calculating. "Oh come on," he replied smoothly. "Your performance with Flak last year was a hit! And even Flak raked a few more views for his participation this year. Now, imagine you joining again next year. You'll be a crowd favorite for sure. And besides, we could always use more excitement in the arena. Your skills and reputation precede you, assassin of shadows. "

Shinku considered Helix's offer, weighing the risks and benefits in his mind. While he had no desire to participate in another death game, he knew that securing Carnival Rosa's assistance could be invaluable. "Very well," he finally conceded, his tone guarded. "But first, I need to recover Elise's body."

Helix nodded, his smirk widening. "Of course, my friend," he said smoothly. "I’ll be on it right away." After a polite bow, Helix's form seemed to blur and then dispersed into a thousand swirling black rose petals, each one shimmering in the dimness of the corridor as they danced through the air. . They danced in the air for a moment before fading away entirely, leaving behind only a faint scent of roses.

Jack's eyes widened in surprise at Helix's sudden disappearance. "Whoa, did you see that?!" he exclaimed, his tone filled with astonishment.

Shinku nodded calmly, his expression unchanged. "Yes, I've seen him do that before," he replied, his voice steady. "It's one of his tricks."

Jack blinked, processing this information. "Well, ain't that somethin'?" he muttered, shaking his head in disbelief. "Guess we're dealing with more than meets the eye here." He then glanced around nervously, his eyes searching for any signs of danger. "So, what's the plan now, mate?" he whispered, his voice barely audible.

Shinku placed a finger to his lips, signaling for Jack to remain quiet. "We wait," he replied softly. "Helix will return soon."

After a tense few moments, Helix reappeared in the same mysterious fashion as before, his form coalescing from a thousand black rose petals. He held a well-crafted urn in his hands, its intricate design catching the faint light.

With a graceful flourish, Helix presented the urn to Shinku, a sly smile playing on his lips. "Here you go," he uttered, his tone tinged with amusement. "Elise's remains, as requested."

Shinku accepted the urn with a nod of thanks, his gaze steady as he locked eyes with Helix. "Thank you," he said simply, his voice betraying none of the emotions swirling within him.

"Remember our deal," Helix reminded Shinku with a cryptic smile before vanishing once more in a whirl of black petals.

Shinku nodded in acknowledgment, his mind already racing with plans and strategies. He turned to Jack, gesturing for him to follow. "Let's go," he said quietly, his voice tinged with a mix of relief and sadness. "We have what we came for."

Jack gave Shinku a quick nod before the assassin of shadows summoned his shadow portal once more, the swirling darkness whisking him away from the confines of Carnival Rosa's base and back into the open air outside. The pirate followed shortly after with the help of his black armband.

"We should head back to our base," Shinku said finally, his voice steady despite the weight of their recent actions. "There's nothing left for us here. Let’s just hope Callon has any news about Birke."

Returning to their humble shack nestled amidst the towering trees of the remote forest, Shinku and Jack stepped inside, their footsteps echoing softly against the wooden floorboards. Shinku wasted no time, carefully cradling the urn containing Elise's remains as he placed it on the small wooden altar in the corner of the room.

Jack watched in silence, a somber expression crossing his features as he observed Shinku's actions. He had known Shinku for a long time, seen him face countless dangers with a steely resolve, but this was different. The usually composed assassin seemed vulnerable, his usually impassive facade giving way to a raw emotion that Jack had rarely witnessed before.

Silently, Jack stood by, his gaze lingering on Shinku as he lit the candles. Each flickering flame seemed to cast shadows of memories on the walls, reminding Shinku of the memories he shared with the lady, from the time he met her, to the moment he helped her with Janica, up to the time when she asked him to train her.

After a while, Shinku bowed his head in silent prayer. At that point, Jack couldn’t help but feel a lump form in his throat. He had never been one for religion or rituals, but in that moment, he felt the weight of his comrade’s loss.

Suddenly, the door creaked open, and Callon entered, his expression grave as he approached Shinku. Without a word, he handed over an arrival ticket from Erde Nona’s space port, its edges worn from frequent handling. Shinku's eyes narrowed as he read the name printed on it: "Birke."

"This one is dated a few days ago," Callon explained, his voice tinged with concern. "It seems Birke is here."

Shinku's brow furrowed as he studied the ticket, his mind racing with possibilities. There might be a chance that Birke is looking for him as well since he did promise him an ally.

Callon then produced a stack of receipts, each bearing Birke's name as the customer. "These are from several merchants in Arcadia," he continued, laying them out before Shinku. "It seems Birke has been quite active there."

Shinku's grip tightened on the documents, his thoughts whirling as he considered their next move. Callon’s information offered a glimmer of hope. If Birke has an item that was able to bring him back to life, he might know some trick to do the same to Elise.

"We need to head to Arcadia," Shinku said finally, his tone resolute. "Birke might have a way to revive Elise."

With a nod from Jack and a determined expression from Callon, the trio began to make preparations for their journey.

The trio arrived in Arcadia, the bustling city greeting them with its cacophony of sounds and colorful sights. Shinku led the way, his eyes scanning the crowded streets as they made their way through the bustling marketplace. They navigated through the throngs of people, Jack keeping a close eye on their surroundings while Callon consulted the map, guiding them towards the locations mentioned in Birke's receipts.

Their first stop was a nearby marketplace, where Callon began his interviews with the merchants. One after another, they approached shopkeepers, showing them the receipts bearing Birke's name and inquiring if they had any knowledge of his whereabouts. Hours passed as they moved from stall to stall, the sun casting long shadows as the day wore on.

Despite encountering many dead ends and false leads, Callon remained undeterred, his determination unwavering as he continued his inquiries. Finally, as the afternoon sun began to dip below the horizon, they stumbled upon a merchant who seemed to recognize the name.

The merchant, an elderly man with a weathered face and a kind demeanor, listened intently as Callon showed him the receipts. After a moment of contemplation, a flicker of recognition crossed his features, and he nodded slowly.

"Aye, I remember Birke," the merchant said, his voice tinged with nostalgia. "He used to come by here often, always on the lookout for rare artifacts and curiosities.” The merchant then arched a curious brow. "Why the interest in Birke?" he inquired, eyeing them with a mixture of suspicion and intrigue.

Shinku stepped forward, his demeanor earnest yet determined. "He’s a friend of ours and we really need him for an important matter," he explained, his voice steady. "And we need to find him as soon as possible."

Sensing the urgency in Shinku's tone, the merchant nodded slowly, understanding dawning in his eyes. "I see," he murmured thoughtfully. "Well, let’s see…"

Shinku wasted no time, reaching into his pocket and withdrawing a handful of coins. "Please," he implored, pressing the coins into the merchant's hand. "We need to find him as soon as possible. Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated."

With a grateful nod, the merchant pocketed the coins, his expression softening. "Very well," he replied, a small smile playing at the corners of his lips. "Birke was known to frequent a boarding house called 'The Whispering Willow.' It's located on the outskirts of town, near the old oak tree. You'll find him there."

Relief washed over Shinku as he thanked the merchant profusely for his assistance. With the newfound information in hand, the trio set off in search of "The Whispering Willow," their determination driving them forward. They wasted no time, with Shinku using his shadow portal from time to time to hasten the journey and Jack following closely behind with his black armband activating as the assassin of shadows used his teleport skills. Callon on the other hand, rode on Shinku’s shadowsteed to catch up with his companions.

It wasn’t that long till they found themselves traversing a secluded part of the route. It was amidst the thick foliage and towering trees, when, without warning, the air was suddenly rent with the sound of gunfire, bullets raining down upon them from all directions.

Reacting swiftly, Shinku and his companions dodged and weaved through the barrage, their movements honed by years of training and battle-hardened experience. Amidst the chaos, Shinku's keen senses went into overdrive, his mind racing to identify the source of the attacks.

To his surprise, he discovered a single anthropomorphic mouse-like creature leaping gracefully from tree to tree, its movements fluid and agile.

With a determined grimace, Shinku summoned his shadow portal, teleporting right behind their elusive attacker. However, the creature proved to be too nimble, easily evading Shinku's sword strikes with acrobatic finesse.

Jack and Callon, meanwhile, remained on high alert, their eyes scanning the surrounding area for any sign of danger. The forest around them seemed to come alive with the sound of gunfire and the rustling of leaves as their mysterious assailant continued to launch relentless attacks.

"We need to end this quickly," Shinku muttered, his brow furrowed in concentration as he anticipated the creature's next move. With a swift motion, he lunged forward once more, his sword slicing through the air with precision. But the creature was always one step ahead, dodging and weaving with uncanny speed.

As the battle raged on, it became clear that their opponent was not to be underestimated. With each agile dodge and counterattack, the creature seemed to grow more confident, its movements becoming increasingly unpredictable.

Desperation began to set in as Shinku realized that their current strategy was not working. With a quick glance at Jack and Callon, he knew they needed to come up with a new plan—and fast.

As the battle raged on, Birke suddenly emerged from among the shadows of the trees, his presence commanding attention as he surveyed the chaotic scene before him. His piercing gaze settled on the mouse-like creature, a mixture of curiosity and mild annoyance coloring his expression.

"What in blazes are you doing, Burt?" Birke demanded, his voice laced with authority. "Cease this nonsense at once."

Burt, the anthropomorphic creature, turned towards Birke, his demeanor shifting from aggression to deference in an instant. "Apologies, mate," he replied, his voice tinged with a note of apprehension. "But these individuals were prowling about the marketplace, looking for your whereabouts. They looked really dangerous and I feared that they’d harm you."

Birke chuckled dismissively, waving off the creature’s concerns with a nonchalant gesture. "Fear not, mi hearty," he reassured the creature, his tone casual. "They are no threat to me. In fact, they are allies."

Turning his attention to Shinku and his companions, Birke offered them a congenial smile. "Ah, Shinku and Jack," he greeted them warmly. "Thank the arbiters I found you! I’ve been looking all over Arcadia for you. And I see that you got yourselves another ally ‘ere."

Shinku's expression softened with relief at Birke's arrival. "Indeed, Birke," he replied, returning the smile. "It's good to see you again. This is Callon, a soldier that came from John Connor’s army."

Callon nodded respectfully in greeting, his gaze steady as he assessed the situation. "A pleasure to meet you, Birke," he said with a nod. "We've come seeking your assistance in a matter of utmost importance."

Birke's eyebrows lifted in curiosity, his interest piqued. "Oh? Do tell," he urged, his tone eager as he gestured for them to follow him. "Let's discuss this inside 'The Whispering Willow.' We've much to catch up on."
