The T-800 shook off what was dust on his shoulder the last time Connor took him into battle with him. Between battles of life and death and things dropping on his head, he was still sure he wanted to stick with the Resistance Leader through thick and thin.

The terminator eyed several televisions, the local news networks of Erde Nova, flipping several channels as each news channel spoke the same few words. “Welcome to this year’s Dante’s Abyss 2023’.” What was it about last year’s chaos that made him curious.

The newscaster stuck something into someone’s face on television “Well, this is interesting. We’ve seen new contestants this year but nobody’s seen the Ghost John Connor guy this time. Huh, wonder if he’ll show his face this year?

“Uh, not sure Bob. I’m sure he’s still around on a planet somewhere, after that spectacle last year!”

The Tech-Com soldiers in John’s base seemed to carry on thier normal plans like usal, doing routine guard patrols on the base and being quiet but the news spread to Connor’s base, the soldiers once again waiting for thier daily pinnacle sports routine for watching on television when they were off duty and Connor and Kyle had no orders for them.

Things were pretty quiet for now considering two Sgts were busy talking on a couch watching the local news. Marcus was more vocal then usual, with a beer in his hand and Kyle Reese, the other Sgt was eying the television with interest.

Considering the base wasn’t there just a year ago and the soldiers appeared from home, John had quite a fanbase as Marcus yelled “Hey, Connor! Might want to come out, they are talking about you out here from last year.”

Kyle eyed Marcus and frowned “Connor’s busy. He has no trivial time to watch something that happened last year.”

The second in command wasn’t shy on reminding Marcus they shared a position on John’s base.

Connor walked out, pushing the tent back and sighed. “Sgt, what is it?”

Kyle immediately was on his feet and saluted the General “SIR!”

Marcus did the same as he stepped out “SIR!”

The General sighed as he gave the order “At ease, you two. What’s the yelling about anyway?”

A few soldiers with beer were gathered around the television set and said “Sir, the Dante’s Comet games are back on, you entered last year right?”

John sighed and stiffened, looking over at his hand. “Yeah, it was supposed to be competitive so to speak.”

“By the way, Sgt, I need to talk to you about something, potentially regarding an offer.”

John and Kyle followed each other to Connor’s makeshift office.

“So, Sir, what is your proposition?”

General Connor gritted his teeth “You are my second in command and you’d do anything for me right now. However, the Resistance at home is now here and I need you to do some fighting and research on the unmaking this year in this Dante’s Comet. “

Kyle blinked “First of all, what the hell is Dante’s Comet and what do you want me to do this year?”

John nodded and pointed to the television set and pointed to a throwback of DA’ 22, so far there are creatures called the Unmaking and you pilot the good T-800 from last year as a giant against other contestants.”

Connor nodded “I see the T-800 caught you up on the Unmaking and some other topics.” A holographic map popped up “Basically like Death games. I want you to get information on potential applicants and the unmaking. I gave you a revive in case something happens. This time you are not going back to save Sarah Connor but putting your life on the line like years ago. Think you can handle something like this, Sgt?”

Kyle sighed looking back “What of you and the base, Sir?”

John was silent “I’ll be fine, I have Marcus and my men.”

Kyle bit his tongue and nodded. “I’ll do it, Connor.”

John nodded and handed Kyle a gun and looked outside to see the Terminator huge. “Good luck, Sgt.”
