Physical Description:

As a Tine, Pilgrim is a pack of five individual dogs, with a mix of gray and black pelts, each about the size of a small wolf. On their own, each Tine is barely capable of thought, and behaves much like a normal canine, with only brief memories of being anything more. Yet when the members are near together, they can communicate ultrasonically, and function as a cohesive unit which possess a collective intelligence and personhood.

To Pilgrim his five members, (Wic, Kil, Lir, Rac, and Scar) are all “him” and he possesses a near perfect coordination between his members as they all work with one “mind”. in order to maintain pack cohesion, the members must remain within 15 meters of each other, and cannot come closer than 5 meters with a source of ultrasonics (lest it disrupt the pack cohesion) if the pack is scattered they will generally possess enough residual awareness to recognize their other members and recombine, but it is a moment of vulnerability for the Tine.

Character History:

Pilgrim has wondered Tinesworld for centuries, seeing all the wonders and becoming an accomplished wanderer who was always prepared. But after the arrival of the sky children, and the realization of technology beyond the Tines imagining, Pilgrim became only more excited to learn what was out there. During an espionage mission to the Tropics, Pilgrim was lost in the great Tropical overmind, a horde of Tines thousands strong. He was presumed dead or dismantled, and his friends mourned his loss.

But Pilgrim's journeys were far from over...

This is an interesting one, for sure!

If each of the times are individuals capable of independent movement and action (even if they get real dumb), each one beyond the first will count as a Summon.

So you'd basically need to buy Summon 1 with the Permanent modifier four times and then get all the abilities of each time for that summon.

Being a pack of 5 wolves is stronk, and will thus be pretty expensive.

They don't need Adaptation: inhuman anatomy because they follow pretty conventional biology as far as where as their really important organs and stuff are.

If the tines are too dumb to use any of their abilities like, "run fast" or "bite you", you also wouldn't have to buy them individually. You could just have a blank Summon that want capable of much more than a normal person, and then only give the "whole" those abilities

If I was to try and build this efficiency, this is how I'd run it (obviously cleaned up to match your intention and style):

Summon 1 (200)
Range: Close - Duration: Sustained
Modifiers: Limited, Dumb as hell (-50);
Cost: 150
The tine can leave the collective, but loses all of the coordination and mental acuity that makes the collective so special. Basically they're just frightened stray dogs that mostly just want to return to the pack. They can run, attack, and do other things about as well as an average person, but they're dumb enough to prevent them from accomplishing anything with any amount of complexity.

Do this 4 times, one for each tine beyond the first.

Then you buy all your "we're together" skills, which only apply to the whole without having to buy all of it multiple times.

To my understanding it'll cost more than 150 it looks like you didn't apply the costs for increased duration (plus I would need to make them permanent, since they don't vanish if Pilgrim gets knocked out after all) I don't mind if its expensive, outside of a world where such packs are common, he has more power than I was originally thinking when I choose him. I'll just go with the pack members and talking thing for now (since that's for the whole pack I'd only need to buy it once if I am correct) and save up for the rest.
Side question, is there any way to handle the fact that he has no opposable thumbs? If its just negative fluff that's fine, but I figured I should check I'm not being dumb.

Good catch! I suppose they are permanent, even when they come back together they're still individuals in a lot of ways. STUDENT/MASTER TROPE

Only correction for this is that Summon has a base duration of "Sustained" so you'd only need to buy Increase Duration once to make it Permanent! Save you 100 E per rank.

Other than that, this looks solid. Way to make an advanced concept work!!

That's up to you, really. If you could say that the individual animal is gonna USE their like, super badass senses in a meaningful way to drive your plot, buy it. If they're really not gonna, I'd save yourself the Essence and skip it.

There is 100% no rush on this! my RL has me pretty sparse myself right now, and this is a pretty wonky character design no matter how you slice it.
When I was reading the abilities page again (since I seemingly missed a lot of it last time -_-) I noticed that summoning is listed there as 300 base cost, and you wrote it as 200 here, am I correct to assume its the 300 that's the actual cost?

also (this is probably better suited for a QQ post, but what purpose do ranks serve on communication?

The Pilgrim “pack” is made up of five tines (wic, kil, lir, rac, and scar). If something disrupts the pack’s integrity, the scattered members will behave as confused, scared dogs, losing the coordination and intelligence that makes a Tines pack so fearsome. Pilgrim’s members share only fleeting memories when scattered, but know enough to try and recombine when possible.
Because the packmind communicates at ultrasonic frequencies, pilgrim is quite susceptible to sonic disturbances, which can make his thoughts fuzzy, or even disrupt his collective entirely if severe enough.

@Communication - Each rank gets you a different type of communication. So if this were DnD-- For each rank you have you can pick a different language. For our world it would be something like this-- A Rank 3 in Communication could be a Cellphone, Telepathy, and a Crystal Ball.

@Summoning - It is indeed 300. Probably a typo. No worries.

@Tine Personage - Looks good to me.

@Packspeech - Still with the old system there. Communication doesn't require a range anymore. It works like an inter-galactic message service by default now; explained however you want.

Physical Description:
As a Tine, Pilgrim is a pack of five individual dogs, with a mix of gray and black pelts, each about the size of a small wolf. On their own, each Tine is barely capable of thought, and behaves much like a normal canine, with only brief memories of being anything more. Yet when the members are near together, they can communicate ultrasonically, and function as a cohesive unit which possess a collective intelligence and personhood.
To Pilgrim his five members, (wic, kil, lir, rac, and scar) are all “him” and he possesses a near perfect coordination between his members as they all work with one “mind”. in order to maintain pack cohesion, the members must remain within 15 meters of each other, and cannot come closer than 5 meters with a source of ultrasonics (lest it disrupt the pack cohesion) if the pack is scattered they will generally possess enough residual awareness to recognize their other members and recombine, but it is a moment of vulnerability for the Tine.

Character history: Pilgrim has wondered Tinesworld for centuries, seeing all the wonders and becoming an accomplished wanderer who was always prepared. But after the arrival of the sky children, and the realization of technology beyond the Tines imagining, Pilgrim became only more excited to learn what was out there. During an espionage mission to the Tropics, Pilgrim was lost in the great Tropical overmind, a horde of Tines thousands strong. He was presumed dead or dismantled, and his friends mourned his loss.

But Pilgrim's journeys were far from over...
