It was a beautiful day in Mount Paozu. A lush green mountain filled with all kinds of wildlife. A pterodactyl flies overhead as it casts a shadow onto the ground below. The wind blows through the bamboo forest. Everything is at peace.

A young boy begins making his way to the river. A boy with unkempt spiky black hair, a blue gi, red armbands, and most odd of all a monkey tail. He goes to the river to dip his tail into the water. After waiting for a bit a giant fish leaps out of the water only to be rendered unconscious by the boy with just one kick. The boy begins dragging the fish along only to come across a wild beast. A very thin sabertooth tiger that looked malnourished, it was hungry as well as angry.

"Oh, you want some of my fish too?" the boy said.

The boy then tears off a piece of meat from the fish and throws it over to the tiger, the beast is hesitant at first but takes a bite out of the meat before Goku hands him another piece. Goku then gives the tiger a pat on the head like one would do a normal cat.

"There you go you should be all full now, well, see you later," the boy said.

As the boy walks away the tiger slowly follows him. As the boy impales the giant fish onto a stick and begins roasting it on a fireplace. He then turns his head to see the tiger approaching out of curiosity.

"Or are you still hungry?" the boy asked.

The tiger nodded as the boy began sharing more of his fish before helping himself to some.

"My name is Goku by the way what's yours?" Goku asked.

The sabertooth tiger let out a deep mew almost like that of a household cat.

"Yeah sorry, but I still haven't learned how to speak animal yet. Hmm, I'll just call you Mr.Tiger for now," Goku said.

After having his fill he walked away waving the tiger goodbye and went back to his home, a small eastern-style hut he then stood in front of a pedestal with a small orange orb with four red stars on it sitting on top of a cushion.

"Hey Grandpa, I made a new friend today. Though it's just another animal, not a single person has come to the mountains, probably because of the dangerous desert that surrounds it you told me never to go to. Anyway, I miss you, I hope wherever you are now you're still happy even without me around. And besides I know we'll see each other again someday ha ha ha," Goku said.

With that, he then looked out the window and wondered. Grandpa Gohan told him there was a whole nother world out there. What are the people like, what is the food like? Still, though his grandpa said to not venture far off alone. Might as well wait until someone does come, he doesn't want to disobey his grandfather even if he has passed on for a while already.

A Renault 5 Turbo was driving through a dirt path. Driven by a blue-haired young adult woman looking at a strange round watch-like device on her dashboard that seems to be leading her to something.

"Alright, almost there," the lady said.

As she stops the car with a screech Goku is alerted to a sound he hasn't heard before.

"Wait here grandpa, I think the monster that killed you returned," Goku said.

He then grabs a hold of his staff as he runs off outside. As the blue-haired girl gets out of the car holding the watch-like device in her hands. As she steps forward she sees an angry boy staring towards her.

"Stand back, that monster is going to eat you!" Goku said.

The lady looked around nervously to see what he was talking about. As Goku shouts out "Power Pole extend!" and increases the length of his staff. Smashing it onto her car and breaking it. The staff returned to normal length as Goku danced around happily.

"I did it, I avenged my grandfather!" he shouted.

The girl then stares in disbelief at what just happened. Her car was totaled by a child with a boy with some kind of magic staff.

"That wasn't a monster that was my car you brat!" she yelled.

Goku then stops to stare at the human he saved. The first human he had ever seen in a long time. And she looked weird. He could guess this was one of those girl humans Grandpa Gohan told him about.

"Car? What's that? Is it what the beast you tamed is called?" Goku asked.

"Wow, you must be far off in the country if you don't know what a car is. It's a machine, built by humans to get around faster," she explained.

"You mean you built it yourself, I am sorry," apologized Goku.

"No it's not something I built personally but it wasn't cheap either. Never mind that I am looking for something," the girl said.

"Whatcha looking for? Can I help? For breaking your car thing?" Goku asked.

"Well, you wouldn't happen to see an orange ball with red stars on it?" Bulma asked.

Goku then realized what she could be looking for and got into a defensive martial arts pose.

"You're a thief, trying to steal my grandpa's precious possessions from him. Grandpa warned me about people like you trying to take it! He beat people up trying to take it from him," Goku said.

"Wait wait wait I am not going to steal it my family is very rich, I can buy it from you," Bulma said.

"You mean with money? Grandpa told me money causes more problems than it solves. that's why he moved here to be with nature." Goku said.

"This kid knows what money is, but not what a car is? Just how bad of a teacher was his grandfather? Come on Bulma think. He's too young to be into girls probably so I need to think of some other way to get his Dragon Ball. Come on Bulma you're a supergenius you can do this" she thought.

"Well, still I can buy you and your grandfather anything to make life better for you. Just let me talk to him and I'll be sure we can make a deal." Bulma said.

"Well that'll be hard to do because he's been dead for two years," Goku said.

He then looked down at the ground saddened. Bulma looked guilty at this revelation. Here she was trying to get the last memento this boy has of his caretaker. Would she be that selfish to take the boy's Dragon Ball?

"Well, then how about I adopt you into my family? You live a life of luxury and never have to hunt for food or survive in the wilderness ever again. Then you can let me own your Dragon Ball like a good little brother would do." Bulma said.

The answer is yes. As Goku thinks about her offer he then remembers when Grandpa Gohan told him about other worlds. Especially Opealon.

"Wait are you from another world besides this one?" Goku asked.

"Hmm? Yes, I am from Cevanti and I came here to Erde Nona after learning about the legend of the Dragon Balls," she said.

"Then I want to go to Opealon. Grandpa told me about an amazing man known as the invincible Master Roshi. He's said to be a great martial artist and was my grandpa's teacher. Grandpa promised to take me to meet him someday before he died so this might be my only chance," Goku said.

"Simple enough, fine, I'll take you as long as you help me get all seven Dragon Balls," Bulma said.

She then showed the two Dragon Balls identical to the one Goku has, but one has two stars and the other has five. Goku looked in awe. He had no idea that there was more than what his grandfather owned.

"They each have several stars on them from one to seven. Luckily I have invented a special radar to track their signature electromagnetic pulse," Bulma explained.

Goku didn't know what an electromagnetic pulse was but he assumed it was probably something magic-related. Grandpa told him stories about many people using magic outside the mountain. Maybe she's one of those. She does look like she could be a witch. Especially with that odd hair color.

"What do you want with these Dragon Balls anyway? Do you plan on returning them to the poor dragon who lost them?" Goku asked.

"They're not those kind of balls. When all seven are brought together a powerful dragon named Shenron appears and after using the special chant he grants your wish." Bulma explained.

"A wish? That's amazing, what do you plan on wishing for anyway?" Goku asked.

"It's a secret~," Bulma said giving a wink.

Grandpa told him women were confusing creatures. Though he didn't expect one to be this weird. Still, though he was taught to be nice and polite to them. Then he just realized something. He then bowed to Bulma.

"I'm sorry I didn't introduce myself to you properly miss. My name is Son Goku," greeted Goku.

"Like that one story? My name is Bulma Briefs of the Brief dynasty." Bulma said.

Goku then tried to hold in a chuckle. It would be rude to laugh at her name. He turned around covering his mouth and began giggling.

"Hey all of my family is named like that deal with it!" raged Bulma stomping her right foot.

Goku then leads Bulma to his Dragon Ball, the Four Star Ball. Bulma is about to reach and grab it, but Goku snatches it away. Looking at her with pleading eyes.

"Can I at least be the one to hold on to it, before I let you use it," he asked.

She may be selfish, but she's not completely heartless. Sighing she decides the kid could at least have this. Especially since she doesn't have the heart to tell him once the Dragon Balls are used they scatter around the world again.

"Alright but keep it safe, don't wear it around as a necklace that would attract too much attention, who knows who else could be after these. If a really bad person gets a hold of all seven who knows what would happen?" Bulma said.

She then got out a strange-looking Capsule with the number 9 on it. Pressed a button on it. And in a cloud of smoke, a scooter appeared.

"I knew it! You are a magical witch!" Goku said.

"Not a witch nor this is magic. This is the wonders of science my dear Goku, courtesy of Capsule Corp," Bulma said giving a peace sign.

Goku didn't know what a stience was, but if she said it was different from magic he was going to believe her for now. He then gets in the back of the scooter as she sits in the front. As they drove off together. Goku couldn't believe the speed of this thing. It was faster than even him. Along the way, he saw the tiger he befriended earlier and waved him goodbye.

Now we get to the true beginning of Goku's journey. As he ventures across the Crossroads and is bound to meet many friends and foes alike.

As they rode off through the valley, the sun was beginning to set. Bulma stopped the scooter as she parked it next to a tree. She then pressed a button and it turned back into a small Capsule as she took another one out of her little box and tossed it out as a dome-shaped house materialized.

"This is how we'll be camping, in style. Or as the cool kids call it nowadays glamping." Bulma said.

"Camping? That's the weirdest tent I've ever seen," Goku said.

"You went camping with your grandpa?" Bulma asked.

"Sometimes we went a bit ways off from home though so he would teach me survival training and Martial Arts. Though we built our tents ourselves out of tree branches and leaves." Goku explained.

"Well Tarzan, you'll be amazed once I show you the wonders of modern living, behold!" Bulma said.

As she opened the door Goku couldn't believe his eyes. There were lights inside as things were getting dark out. A strange big and wide chair that was soft and cozy. As he is looking around. Bulma noticed his monkey-like tail. Which begins swaying to and fro like a real tail would.

Curiosity piqued her as she reached out to grab it to see if it was real. Goku winced in pain and froze as he was on the ground completely helpless.

"Hey stop! I didn't do anything wrong!" Goku yelled out.

Bulma let go and fell on her rear. That tail was a real one alright. Yet why the heck was this kid born with a monkey tail? Is he some sort of hybrid or something more inhuman?

"Uh sorry I just, didn't know your tail was real?" Bulma said.

"Of course it is, grandpa would pull it whenever I did something naughty to teach me a lesson, don't other boys have tails like me?" Goku asked.

"Well, did your grandpa have a tail?" Bulma asked.

"No, but I just thought that it fell off him when he turned older. Like hair or teeth." Goku said.

Bulma wanted to interject, but he's not sure how to break it to him and that's not normal. Best for him to be ignorant and believe that lie for now. Besides there was something more important to take care of first.

"I got to go to the bathroom," Bulma pouted.

As she walked off she heard the pitter-patter of small footsteps behind her. She turned to look to see Goku behind her.

"What are you doing?" she asked.

"I am going to the bathroom with you," Goku bluntly stated.

"What no absolutely not! Guys don't go to the bathroom with girls!" Bulma said

"But me and my grandpa go peeing together all the time. We would play a game to see who could go the farthest and for how long and-"

And Bulma put a stop to that conversation right then and there by tugging his tail.

"I do not want to hear about it. Girls go to the bathroom differently than guys. So why don't you go piss on a tree like you normally do jungle boy!" demanded Bulma.

Letting it go Goku whimpered, wondering what was her problem or what she meant by girls going to the bathroom differently than boys. As he went outside to take a whiz. After he was done he heard some rustling in the bushes as a large mohawked bear wearing a Chinese-style suit of armor and carrying a large saber came out. Various other anthropomorphic animals wearing the same type of armor came out of the woods and surrounded the camp. Goku got into a battle-ready stance as he got out of his Power Pole.

"We don't want no trouble kid. What we want is all the food and money that you have in that house of yours," the bear thief said.

"It's not mine, it's Bulma's, and I am not letting you take anything from her!" Goku declared.

As Bulma was done powdering her nose so to speak. She then looks out the window to see the bunch of thugs surrounding the house. Quickly ducking away to make sure she wasn't spotted she slowly went to her bag and grabbed a gun out. As she fired the revolver at some of the bandits the bullets just glanced off of their armor. They then looked at her mildly annoyed and unimpressed.

"Well, you must be the Bulma that this kid mentioned. Now fork over everything you have or else the kid gets it you blue-haired bimbo," the bear thief said.

Bulma then slammed the door shut. As Goku roared and charged forward. Twirling his Power Pole around he used his staff to whack each and every thief knocking them out one by one. As they all tried to rush him they would be flung away and knocked back. Then Goku was surrounded by a ring of them using crossbows. Before they can even fire Goku extends his Power Pole and swings it around catching each thief in the swing before sending them all hurdling towards a tree as they make a pile of unconscious bodies.

However, Goku forgot about the leader, who then slammed his saber onto Goku. Only for it to break upon impact to his head as the bear thief's eyes bulged out of his head in shock. Goku rubbed his head, as some blood ran along his forehead. While it did cut and bruise a little it was just a minor cut it seems.

"Ow that hurt, that's dirty, hitting someone on the head when their back is turned," Goku said.

The bear thief refused to believe it. No way that this kid was this strong. No one has a head that thick. Just to be on the safe side he readies a punch for the kid's spine to paralyze. That was before a bright beam shot towards him sending him back several feet before it exploded in a bright flash of light. Goku covered his eyes from the flash and as the light dimmed he saw the possibly dead smoldering body of the bear thief.

Goku then looked around to see where that blast came from before turning around to see Bulma holding something in her hands. It was a laser gun, though Goku didn't know that. As Bulma blew the smoking weapon she went hmph.

"That's for calling me a bimbo," Bulma said.

"Are you sure you're not a witch?" Goku asked.

"Oh this old thing, I built it when I was five years old and have been modifying it ever since. Thought it'd come in handy though it can only hold so many charges left so I only save it for emergencies." Bulma explained.

"That was not an emergency. I could have beaten him on my own, I've beaten those other guys." Goku pointed out as he pointed a finger at the large number of unconscious bodies.

"Well, that guy made it personal for what he called me okay! Now get inside so I can treat your wound, don't want it to get infected," Bulma said.

She cleaned the blood off of Goku's forehead and put disinfectant on the wound before applying a bandage. Goku surprisingly took it like a champ. Most people would wince from the sizzling feeling it gives. That is when Bulma noticed a smell coming off of the child.

"Oh god don't tell me you never had a bath in your life?!" gagged Bulma.

"I've had plenty of baths in the river. I rubbed flowers on myself and everything to make me smell nice," Bulma said.

"Flowers are no substitute for soap! I am going to have to run you a bath right now. Just stay right there," Bulma said.

As Bulma left to run the bath. Goku smelled food, and as his stomach growled his nose led him to a strange large box. As he opened the container there was a chill coming from within but sure enough, it was filled with food. Goku didn't know why the food was kept in this cold box, but he cared more about satisfying his tummy.

He was ravenous. Chewing through different meats, gnawing on different vegetables, and drinking different beverages he could find. After he was finally full he lay on the ground satisfied. As Bulma walked back into the room she came to the kitchen to see her fridge raided and mostly empty. Only a few scraps of food left.

"That fridge was stocked with an entire week's supply of food how did you eat it all in just a few minutes?!" Bulma shouted.

"Oh sorry, I left enough for you though if you want anything," Goku said innocently.

Bulma then yanked Goku by the tail and dragged him to the tub before throwing him in. As Goku was soaking in the tub he realized he probably should have left her more food. As Bulma begins scrubbing his soggy hair with soap furiously. She was starting to regret beginning to bring this kid around but without him, she can't have all seven Dragon Balls. Plus he makes for a good bodyguard considering he beat up a bunch of dudes with ease and is kind of superhuman freak.

She had a feeling this journey was going to be more of a handful than she thought. She just hoped that it would end sooner than later. She is not sure if she can handle being with this kid for an entire year.
