”Oh, the Lord will set you free. Oh, the Lord is gonna make you see.”

John is a Spiritual Gunslinger first and foremost. He is also nothing short of a religious fanatic when it comes to his faith, and is more than willing to demonstrate his devotion to any who oppose him or the higher power he calls upon. Aside from those generally unappealing facts, he is a courteous and remarkably social person who finds more pleasure in spreading his faith to any who will listen rather than enforcing it through gunpoint.

~Physical Description~

Standing at 6’3”, John is an unremarkable human who is above average build, with his years of prior work leaving various marks on his body. A trimmed beard rests atop his face, below two brown eyes, along with three scars on his right cheek. His body is littered with tattoos of Abrahamic faiths, and his muscles are well maintained through strenuous activities while traveling.

The attire of John consists of a white plaid shirt, gray cargo pants with suspenders bloused into black combat boots, and a light gray plate carrier adorned with scriptures and magazine pouches. Atop his head rests a grey cavalry hat, marked with two gold crossed sabers and a golden lace around the base. He may wear a black dress vest instead of the carrier in times or relaxation or when not expecting combat, as well as a pair of black round sunglasses if he is feeling it.

Determining the origin of an unusual man requires an unusual mind, particularly in the case of John. He speaks vaguely of what he did before he found his faith, but some pieces of the puzzle are easy to place. John was born in a bayou, and was orphaned when his parents were faced with a plague. A plague John believes to have originated from hell itself. He was adopted into an organization that sought to stop the illness that swept the land, and it wasn’t long before he joined in the effort himself. It was at this time that he also adopted the faith, as he needed it in his endeavors.

The mission was simple. The objective, clear. Eliminate the hellspawn, banish them back to whence they came, and seal them off forever.

He excelled in his work until the very last demon was banished, but was left feeling as though there was more work to be done. He departed his home and became a wanderer, searching for his new life purpose. He found it by asking the faith he once depended on to save his home. The Lord gave him a new mission.

“Travel far and wide across the worlds and stars. Seek out those who are misguided and free them from their chains. Enlighten them as to the good I have created, for it is through absolution that I will purge sin. This act is to be my mercy. This act is to be my strength. Through service to the kingdom of God, they will know power, and they will one day be granted entry through the gates of Eden.”

So it was, that John went forth and met many different beings on many different paths. He explained what he saw to any who would listen, and told them of the higher power that waits for them. His task was not to force others into the service of the Lord, but instead give them the opportunity to see life from a different perspective. Those that scoffed at John knew no harm from him, as it was their right to do so in the eyes of the Lord. John did ask the Lord what he should do for those who attempted to impede the Lord or himself, as well as spread sin without recourse. One night, he received his answer.

"Travel far and wide across the stars. Seek out those who wish to harm my kingdom, and my creations. They will be given the choice to repent for their sins, and will be judged accordingly by yourself. Should they be worthy of salvation, banishment may be withheld, as judgement must be fair to those who can be saved. Any who vehemently oppose, or are purposed to spread strife and agony to those undeserving, are to be condemned to the hell from whence they came."

So it was, that John began to do more than peacefully speak the word of the Lord. He also actively sought out and destroyed those who were beyond any and all salvation.

John was gifted this handgun by his late father before he was left orphaned. It served him during many conflicts, and has since been modified to accept a larger, more damaging caliber. It kicks hard, and is irrefutably loud. The handgun is a traditional color pattern of silver and brown, and is usually secured in a standard, but sturdy, leather holster when not in use.

John can commune with his Lord by offering a prayer and a moment of his time. In this time, John can ask for guidance in regards to locating heretics that may be nearby, or other threats that may dare oppose his own well-being or the Lord and his wishes.

The Faith
Protection 5 (Spiritual/Otherworldly) (+500) - Through faith, divine protection is used to guide the blessed away from danger, or negate it.

Healing 2 (Spiritual/Radiant) (+400) - The blessed will feel their injuries slowly mend over time.

Total Cost = 725 Essence
John is capable of being a conduit to his lord, and is prepared to lend out his strength in times of need. With loud prayers and gestures of extreme faith, the Father can bless those around him with a type of spiritual protection and healing thought to be unknown. As though God himself was catching blows before they struck or mending wounds as they appeared, the person blessed with this prayer will know the grace of the Lord. This ability is not able to work on entities of mechanical design however, and can take upwards of half a minute of prayer before taking hold.

The Banishment
Debuff 4 (+400) - Blackened chains strike the enemy and significantly impede movement until broken or dispelled.

  • -Limited 4 (-200) (John must verbally condemn/damn the opponent during the process.)
Total Cost = 200 Essence
As developed and used by his peers long before his service to the Lord, John has since modified it's purpose to better suit him in dealing with higher tier enemies or immortals. This is not something to be wasted on the average hellspawn. With a few seconds of prayer and fanatic devotion, the Father invokes the ire of his Lord to condemn the heretic to damnation. When used, the accursed will be struck by blackened chains and locked in place before being slowly pulled down into the ground below them. Should the opponent not be on the ground, the nearest planetary surface will instead be used. This process will continue until the condemned can be pulled no lower, or they are set free by themselves or outside help. If they cannot be freed, they will suffer this fate indefinitely. John must pray for no less than ten seconds when using this, and will find himself fatigued after the process is completed.

He has effortlessly talked his way out of hostile situations, and talked his way into beneficial ones.
