Lan anxiously knocked his knees together as the train kept moving. His heart pounded halfway out of his chest as he kept checking his watch, before placing his hands flat against his pant legs like they were on fire. He hated public transportation, but sometimes in Erde, that was really the only way to get places. The fact it wasn’t air-conditioned, combined with the fact he knew he’d have no time to shower once he got to his destination, really wasn’t helping his anxiety though, and thus, despite the fact that Lan was very much on course to get to the station, and despite knowing he had basically everything prepared, his brain was very convinced that he simply must be late by now. To top it off, it was clearly summer outside, and despite that all the loudspeakers were willing to play was “All I want for christmas is you.” by Mariah Carey

The Short guy brushed his long hair out of the way of his face, knees knocking back and forth as he took a deep breath. Focus. Prima had drilled that into him. He was getting ready to do a job, and that meant he needed to check if he had everything on hand…

Lan turned to take a handkerchief out of his pocket protector and pad out the sweat that had formed on his brow. Smelling of sweat wasn’t exactly helpful for any job, and it didn’t feel nice, either. He’d heard enough jokes about him coming to work sweaty for one lifetime. Not to mention the obvious issues with concealment…

Lan got up from his seat and slammed open the door with a nervous start, suddenly feeling the need to use the bathroom to freshen up! The Wooden door to his cabin slammed outwards with an appreciable amount of force, only to smash directly into something soft on the other end, as Lan realized with horror what he’d done.

“Oh god, I’m sorry! I was in a hurry! I mean I don’t even know why the cabin doors would open outwards in the first place, and honestly I can’t understand in the slightest who thought that was a good idea… that’s not to say it’s not my fault or anything though! I didn’t mean to imply that! I mean, are you okay sir? I can fix this! I mean, not literally right now but I can pay the medical bill! I’m not a healer, I didn’t mean to imply that!” Lan babbled, leaning down with a panicked edge to his voice as an edge of panic crept into his voice.

“Oh, they aren’t going to be anything compared to your hospital bills, Lan Cameo.” A voice crept up behind him, and Lan was forced to jump.

“For a world-class assassin.” the man continued, and as Lan stood up he snapped to attention, noticing that this guy was both very, very bald, and had a beard more fitting on a dwarf to go along with his seven-foot frame. “It seems some of your informants weren’t quite as loyal as you’d think. A little bit of cash and… well, looks like I have a perfect hostage to negotiate with your ice pick of a cousin.” The man taunted, drawing his pistol. The door to the carriage closed behind lan as more guns followed from every angle, pointed straight at Lan.

To everyone’s surprise, the blue-haired youth gave his pursuer a smile. “Gerald Vienna. Wanted for 9 murders, 40 incidents in human trafficking, thirty-six assaults, and 2 counts of animal abuse.”

“...The last one ain’t actually mine, we kicked that guy out.” Gerald replied, looking down on Lan as his beard reached the floor. “You sure seem in a cheery mood for someone who’s life is over. What’s got you in a good mood?”

Lan flipped a bang out of his eyes as he replied, observing the stance and position of the assassins around him. “Well, there’s actually three things. Firstly, since it seems the guy I hit with a door was a goon, I don’t feel so bad about busting his nose. He can probably afford to fix it on your paycheque.”

“Help? Somebody?...Vinny you fuck!” the man groaned, leaking more blood than Lan expected from a busted nose, if he was honest with himself.

“Secondly, it means I atdidn’t make a mistake on when I was supposed to get here. I was a little worried I’d just got my information wrong. It’s honestly a much worse thing that our information’s compromised, but it’s a lot less embarrassing than if I’d simply gotten the time wrong, wouldn’t you agree?”

The Bearded man groaned. “Lemme guess, the third reason is that you can settle this right now, or some such shit?”

“No, actually!” Lan chirped happily in response. “I’d really prefer to fight a stand user on terrain of my own terms, if I’m honest, so this is actually a bit of a problem. No… I’m just happy that they’re not playing Mariah Carey on the loudspeakers anymore. I like this song a lot more!”

And with that, Lan Disappeared from sight in front of the thug’s eyes.

I’m the invisible Man.
I’m the invisible man.
Incredible how you can

In an instant, the pistols that were pointed at Lan went clattering, knocked from their hands by an unseen force, before the bluette reappeared behind Gerald’s back.

The youth looked back with a happy grin, and a knife that seemed to materialize from thin air behind his back.

see right through me!
