Zayin is an Angelic Challenger
A ‘false angel’ born of humanity rather than created by the divine, Zayin is a steadfast protector of mortals and champion of justice. He is sworn to defend innocents and destroy evil wherever it may appear, a mission he has taken to enthusiastically. Zayin always carries himself with a sense of calm serenity while at peace and excited confidence while in battle, never doubting himself or his purpose.
In battle, Zayin prefers to pick out one for at a time and duel them, fighting them in single combat before moving into the next. His style of combat is also different depending on who he is fighting. Sometimes he may fight someone he believes is not truly evil as a test of skill and character, in which case he will avoid going for lethal or crippling blows. If he is fighting someone truly wicked, however, the angel is merciless, though he does make sure not to leave them suffering unnecessarily.

Physical Description:
Technically, Zayin’s true form is that of his twin swords in which his soul is housed. These blades take the form of a pair of identical gilded longswords with slightly curved edges and guards over the hilt.
In his proper angelic body, however, Zayin takes the form of an androgynous human with golden eyes and long black hair which he keeps tied in a long braid. He typically wears long, loose, flowing robes of blue and off-white. Beneath these robes, Zayin is physically sexless, though he identifies as male. He also possesses six ‘wings’, which are more akin to beams of light hovering behind him rather than typical angel wings, spaced evenly in a circle around his back.

Character History:
Zayin was not born, but rather was created. When he first came into the world, it was as the pair of golden blades that he still wields today. In response to the eldritch incursion that was plaguing the hero-worshipping empire of Indomina, the land’s finest smiths came together to craft weapons of great magical power, something that could beat back an enemy force that was beyond their comprehension. The twin swords were intended to be a pair from their conception, enchanted to never be separated and gifted to one of the empire's finest warriors.
The hero fought in countless battles against the horde that sought to overwhelm them, gaining fame and admiration with each victory, and though they were unaware of it at the time, their blades were gaining the faith of the people as well.
Zayin first gained consciousness when they slipped from their wielder’s grip, his hilts so slick with blood that the hero’s weakening grasp couldn’t hope to hold them any longer. The champion had held the line against a goliath monstrosity, buying time for innocents to flee. Tragically, his sacrifice had done little, and the civilians were moments from being run down by the aberration. Animated by the reverence and hope of the people and spurred into motion by instinct to protect, the awakened blades exerted all of the magic they could muster and willed themself into a more appropriate form.
The newly born angel caught the monstrosity by surprise, driving his blades deep into its heart, slaying the beast and holding back the lesser creatures long enough for the civilians to escape. Zayin wasn’t the first of the holy weapons to gain self-awareness, and he wasn’t the last. Empowered by the faith of the people, each independently took the form of a humanoid angel, sworn to protect humanity in the place of their slain wielders, a task aided by their magical ability to sense cries for help and prayers of protection. One day, however, Zayin sensed such a prayer coming from somewhere he couldn’t quite place, and as he attempted to warp to its location, he found himself stranded in the crossroads, unable to return but ready to protect the people nonetheless.
