[Kagami]

Kagami knitted a brow as she glared at the quiche she found from underneath the bench that she was laying on. In fact, at the sight of it, her expression was of disinterest as she wasn't particularly hungry and secondly, who knows how long it was sitting there all alone? What a sad, lonely quiche and she could care less about it!

However, while she would lift her head, she briefly looked back at Sans with the notable 'z's over his skull and stopped for a moment thinking that if she could play her cards right, she could possibly sneak off and without being caught by the skeleton, allowing him to enjoy his rest to the fullest.

It wasn't going to be an issue, after all, he should be alright without any means of an interruption.

Even so, there is still that lingering feeling that something around her gives her the sense that she was being watched and she wanted to know. Using her powers, it briefly enveloped her hoodie with a slight magenta aura as it would tie around her waist before she would carefully get up off the bench while said aura faded out over time.

Before long, she stretched her arms and legs as her boots made it on the ground as she straightened her glasses afterwards.

While she had a short nap, it was a nap regardless and it wouldn't be long before she did look at Waterfall's surroundings in silence, taking visage of said place with its unique landscape with the fact that she should take some crystals with her and the likes for later.

Crossing her arms, she thought to herself with a hint of annoyance, ‘There has to be someone or something else here. The Underground may be empty but something tells me that it’s not completely empty. However, where should I start? Hmm..'

She was becoming impatient.

 

[Sans]

As Kagami planted her boots on the smooth rock floor, the crystals seemed to brighten up, revealing yet more of the caverns of Waterfall. She could hear running water in the distance alongside the occasional echo from nothing and nowhere.

As her magenta aura flared up, however, she caught sight of something with the shadows, nary a few feet away from the delicious-looking quiche that laid at the shadow’s edge. It was extremely hard to discern from the inky blackness, to the point where anyone else would have assumed it was some trick of their eyes, but she swore she could see something lurking within, something tall and lanky and with small, white, beady eyes.

It was gazing at her. It had to be.

She moved towards it, heading towards the quiche. Slowly, more of the shadows parted to her light, to the light of the crystals above, illuminating more and more of the unknown world before her. The figure didn’t move, content to simply stare at her as she drew closer, yet closer to it. Every moment inched her closer and closer to the figure in the dark. She was almost there. She could almost touch it.

The magenta light shined onto the figure’s boot-like feet.

* yo. good morning. where’d that quiche come from?

Kagami looked back, noting that Sans stood practically right behind her. Whirling her head back just as quickly, she saw that, somehow, the light illuminated nothing and no one save for the corridor up ahead. It was as if no one had been there at all.

 

[Kagami]

Who was that? The darkness, the white dotted eyes, the mysterious vanishing and everything else? Was this the entity she had been after all along? She was wondering but Sans had to come in and ruin it.

"So, it was true.." she whispered before she would push Sans away from her in frustration. "..and thanks for ruining it numbskull!"

She was mad at the fact that Sans ruined the moment she could be able to talk with the entity with his horrible timing. This wasn't fair! She was so close! Just so close!

"I was so close, so close and then you have to show up right behind me and interrupted what I'm doing!" she exclaimed as her eyes alit with her power for a brief moment before she continued, "Another thing, forget the stupid quiche or whatever! It doesn't make up for what you did!"

The young Beanish was mad at Sans as both of her fists were down to her sides as she was sharply glaring at him in the dark.

 

[Sans]

* whoa, jeez, buddy, pal, jeez.

Sans lifted his hands up, taking a few steps away from the steaming bean girl in front of her.

* i wasn’t looking. who was there? did they make that quiche?

 

[Kagami]

"Argh! I only briefly saw them but all I know is that they were dark, tall and had white dots." she grumbled. "They could had been the mysterious entity of this place and now, well, you know! Plus shut up with the stupid quiche because food don't have feelings!"

Kagami huffed as she crossed her arms before she kicked the ground. "You're really lucky I just pushed you and not knocked your skull clean off by now or had done something worse because I'm not someone to get mad."

Eventually, she sighed in defeat, "Not like you would understand. I'm just..going to go over to these glowing flowers or whatever. Maybe this could still be salvaged with what we got left to go before we reach the end of this because I still got to look for some things."

By the sounds of her tone, she was disappointed more than anything and she left to go to the glowing flowers. In fact, she sat by one.

 

[Sans]

* okay, now you’re just being mean to the poor quiche. look at it. you hurt its feelings.

He gestured towards the quiche as Kagami went to sit down next to one of the dark blue echo flowers. The soft crust seemed to deflate like a sagging balloon, sad. Sans continued to stand next to it, glowering at it, thinking over it. A part of him tightened up as he looked at Kagami once more and saw the fierce glare in her eyes, the magenta glow pulsating around her like a force field threatening to expand. He hoped that whatever it was that had just happened hadn’t pissed her off enough to make her want to start a fight.

He pointed to the flower, hoping to take her mind off of the quiche and whatever she had seen in the dark beyond. * by the way, those things are cool. they repeat stuff back at you when you talk to them.

 

[Kagami]

Kagami's sharp glare remained as Sans talked about the quiche and she sighed, shaking her head, however she looked to the flower next to her. As Sans had brought up about repeating stuff, she thought to try it as she leaned in closer.

"Hello?"

"Hello?" the flower talked back.

She looked back to Sans while knitting a brow as she asked, "So what are these things called?"

"So what are these things called?" the flower talked back.

Kagami paused as she decided to keep quiet and not say anything as she still remained to look at Sans who is still with the stupid quiche who she noticed that reacted to her insults. She was speechless as it would seem that the food does seem to have feelings? What? She didn't understand but for some reason, the Underground is sort of a weird place to an extent.

However, if there is a next time, she should go alone and without any interruptions.

 

[Sans]

* they’re called echo flowers. pretty cool, right?

Sans picked up the quiche, enjoying the delicious aroma it exuded.

* anyways, you said you saw something? seems like they wanted you to have this quiche.

 

[Kagami]

Kagami was silent for a bit as she would be reminded of the mysterious shadow approaching the quiche and before long, she replied, "I remembered that they were approaching the quiche but why food? I don't get it. I mean, it's already weird that food somehow has feelings down here, but if it's a key, even though I don't want it, I'll take it along."

She was reluctant to take the quiche, but if it's going to help, she might as well take it.

"Another thing Sans, next time, when I'm in the middle of something, don't approach me from behind and instead, I dunno, can ya wait it out or something because that's a quick way to get knocked silly, understand? Keep your distance in the meanwhile."

She's not fully over this situation as it'll be awhile before she would actually get over it.

 

[Sans]

Sans shrugged. * maybe they thought you were hungry.

He gazed at her some more, his smile oddly smug despite the fact that it had never changed even once while Kagami had been with him.

* well, what do you mean in the middle of something. you’re standing pretty close to the wall, as i can tell.

Sans chuckled, giving Kagami a sly wink.

 

[Kagami]

"Don't. Just don't. I already have to apologize to a food item that I didn't make." she sighed with a glare before she took the quiche from him. "If you know what's best, you would keep this quiet between us or so help me, I will make sure you will never hear the end of it."

With the quiche in hand, she looked down to the item and while she can't believe she's doing this, she's going to do it. Of all things ridiculous that she has done today, she's flatout apologizing to food.

"Sorry if I called you stupid, useless and that. I shouldn't had jumped to conclusions and you know the rest but no hard feelings right?"

 

[Sans]

* won’t tell a soul.

Sans peered at her as she pulled the quiche up to her face and profusely apologized to the sagging, tasty tart in her hands. He suppressed a snicker at the sight; of all the things he had expected to see, he certainly couldn’t have predicted that his unlikely companion was actually looking at a quiche and apologizing to it for calling it stupid.

He put a bony hand to his mouth, altering his voice as he tried to project it onto the quiche. Again, though, he didn’t try very hard to pretend that it wasn’t him making the voice, which was incredibly high-pitched and almost squeaky, like something that would arise from a chipmunk from hell.

* don’t worry, bean girl! i forgive you for all of your mean names! please eat me and fill your stomach with quichey goodness!

 

[Kagami]

Kagami glared at Sans for a moment as she could take this quiche and just slap it on his skull for this. The fact was that she had been messed with too many times with this skeleton, she's closing in on wit's end with his tomfoolery as she kept her powers on the down low.

Or atleast try to.

"You know, I gotta wonder Sans. Did that mysterious entity make this or are you lying through your teeth about it?" she asked as she had an apprehensive tone with a knitted brow. "Of the time we had been down here, I can't help but to feel as if someone here is lying to me about certain things. You know?"

She's still suspicious of the quiche even.

"And exactly, how long has this quiche been down here?"

 

[Sans]

* i mean, i didn’t make it. probably that mysterious entity you keep talking about.

He looked beyond Kagami and into the darkness as if trying to see this strange entity himself. * i wouldn’t know what it is.

 

[Kagami]

Without another word, Kagami would take the quiche and harshly slap it on Sans' skull as she would walk off with an annoyed look.

"Whoops! Oh my goodness! I'm so, so sorry Sans." she apologized with a hostile if not also a sarcastic undertone before she continued, "Yeah, I'm just going to pick up some crystals, look around for a bit more and we're heading outta here."

She chuckled. "In the meanwhile, enjoy the quiche!"

She grumbled afterwards as she walked over to the crystals. Well, atleast the Echo Flowers were nice and help improved her mood somewhat but not entirely. Maybe those voices she heard in her head were right, he really can't be trusted and she's going have to become more demanding if not also drastic.

He was scared of her earlier, maybe she's going have to knock some sense in that thick skull of his for all the things he's pulled on her during this exploration.

 

[Sans]

Suddenly, and without even the slightest bit of hesitation, Sans found his vision completely covered in creamy, quichey goodness. Fortunately for him, he had smashed pies into his face many times for a life, so it wasn’t like the sensation was that much of a shock to him. Unfortunately, as skeletons had no tongue, he could not lick up the various bits of crust and spinach and whatever else was in that quiche so easily, so it all just dribbled off of his bony face and onto the rocky floor below!

He couldn’t help but chuckle at her obviously insincere apology. It seemed like he had really pissed her off good. In his defense, his interruption was a complete accident. He had meant it when he said that he didn’t see what the entity was nor who could have made the quiche. It seemed like she thought there was much more to this place than abandoned ruins which… she was more correct than she had the right to discover. There was far more to this place than ancient buildings and echo flowers, but it was best for everybody if it remained a secret, or at least as secret as these sorts of things could get. The Code Dimension was no joke; who knew what could happen if she stumbled upon it?

He sighed, wiping away from quiche crust from his eyes so he could see. He watched as Kagami stumbled into the darkness, the magenta glow around her being the only indication he had that she was even there.

* kagami…

He walked in her direction, but she was much farther than he had initially expected. It seemed she was intent on going anywhere so long as it was away from him.

* listen, kid, i might have gone too far with the jokes. i’m not trying to make you miserable here.

She didn’t look back at him. He wasn’t even sure if she was listening to him. Arbiter’s sake, how was he supposed to catch up with her?

Then, he felt something tug within his gut, static sparking beneath his feet around his fingertips.

* huh?

Then, within a split second, everything around him had darkened, like he had blinked, and by the time he had processed what had just happened, he was back inside the cave, but this time right in front of Kagami, as if he, like the mysterious entity, had existed within the shadows and was just coming out to face her.

He stared at her, his smile lowered a little and his eyes the size of pinpricks from the shock of whatever he had just done. He glanced behind her, seeing how far the bench was from where he was currently standing. Despite his shock, though, he kept his tone casual.

* uh… hi?

 

[Kagami]

Kagami stopped as she saw Sans suddenly appeared in front of her and she perked up. What the actual? Now, he's in front of her? What's going on here?

However, it wouldn't be long before she asked, "How the? Sans! This ain't funny! I've dealt with you behind me and now you're in front?" Her eyes narrowed as she crossed her arms. "You better have a good explanation for this and secondly, if this is another trick of yours, I'm not laughing."

Yeah, she was mad which meant that she was also going to be impatient with the skeleton. In fact, she's already tapping her boot in annoyance.

 

[Sans]

* uh… would you take ‘i dont know’ for an answer?

Something told him that she would definitely not, so even as he lifted his arms up in a comedic shrug, he glanced around, looking for a place to dodge to in case Kagami decided to throw something other than a soft, delectable quiche at his face.

 

[Kagami]

She sighed, "Well maybe I should be grateful or something, I don't know."

However, she would approach the nearby crystals and continued, "I don't understand you Sans. You look friendly but there's something about you that you would want to keep hidden to the point that I'm left in the dark about it. I mean, the fact that you do it is scummy in itself especially when I want to find out what is going on so I could have some format of a clue to the investigation, but noooo. Surely, that sounds fair, am I right?"

She was still mad but regardless, she kept on before she would grab one crystal and show it's sharply pointed tip at Sans as she sighed.

"Next to killjoys, you know what else I don't like? I don't like to be held back because someone decides to hold their secrets away from me and you fall into that category perfectly. Too much so if I could add insult to injury."

Eventually, she would bring back the crystal so she could look at it better as her eyes were lowered.

"But hey, just ignore me, I'm just some stupid Beanish that roped you into some silly exploration of the Underground because I wanted to know what was going on. I tried to be nice but you're really push me to the point that I'm going have to stand my ground to get answers, so go on, keep doing it! You're doing an absolutely wonderful job with this game."

After saying that, her tone turned cold, harsh if not also serious. She was tired of being nice to the skeleton's antics and if she has to fight him to get answers, she will.

 

[Sans]

* look, kid…

He sighed, stashing his hands back into the pockets of his jacket. He dug his feet into the ground, continuing to stare at her intently as she gestured at him with what looked like the sharpened end of one of the many crystals that adorned the walls of this cave.

* i get it, i do. you want answers. so let’s just say that this time…

He risked a glance off to the side.

* look, you don’t want to know much about this place. it’d change you. i’m trying to keep you from hurting yourself. i promised your ghost buddy, if nothing else.

He shut his eyes, another long, weary sigh escaping from him.

* and besides, i have been answering your questions. it’s not my fault the answers aren’t satisfying you.
