[Kagami]

Even if she was hesitant, she did eventually nod and joined up with Sans.

"Alright, lead the way." she replied while she was trying to keep warm. "I'm right behind ya."

While she was cold, she kept close to the skeleton as she walked around, silent for once as they would focus on finding a fireplace and the likes. To rest in a place like this, actually wouldn't be that bad since it was cozy, if not also a bit on the old-fashioned side, which she did like, as well as stable.

She started to calm down afterwhile.

 

[Sans]

Sans led her up the corridor, the purple walls of the Ruins mixing with the earthy-tones of the well-polished wood of the house. If it hadn't been for the copious amounts of dust-- the non-monster kind, he hoped-- that coated every inch of the surface of the place, there would have been no indication that anyone had abandoned this place at all.

Soon, he led her into what seemed to be a living room with a rocking chair on one side and a large fireplace on the other end that laid sandwiched between two, empty shelves.

* cozy. you got anything to light that fireplace?

 

[Kagami]

"Ahh, I think we may be in a jam on this one unless there is something and while yes I have my pocket radio and that, I don't exactly have anything to light a fire." Kagami answered as she sighed, "..guess I really was that unprepared, huh? Good example of 'I told you so now suffer the consequences of your actions!' or whatever the infamous nag of the week is because you've been busy being a stubborn little punk not listening to anyone because you want things to go your way because-!"

Afterwhile, she paused for a moment as she was actually talking, if not also ranting, about herself before she stopped, realizing that she was doing it again. Great.

"..actually, nevermind. Just find something or whatever."

Her tone was calm if not also with a hint of guilt as she would sit on the ground, staring at the fireplace from a distance with her eyes lowered.

 

[Sans]

* hey, don't beat yourself up like that. you're just a kid steppin' out into the world.

He winked at her. * your pal sans made a promise, remember? and hey, you're not dead, so i've kept to it.

He gazed at the empty fireplace. * unfortunately, i don't have anythin' either. i'll see if she didn't leave some left over matches or something.

Sans walked out of the room and proceeded to scour the entire house. Admittedly, he didn't look very hard, but he was pretty sure even if he did put in the effort to do so, he would have found precisely zero matches, which made sense, considering Toriel used fire magic and thus, you know, wouldn't need them.

He did, however, find a curious and amusing sight: a blanket with golden flowers sewn into the white fabric. He decided to grab that and drag it behind him.

* so, i found no matches, but i found the next best thing.

Sans brandished the blanket out before him as soon as he saw Kagami again. * pretty neat, huh?

 

[Kagami]

Kagami perked up at the sight of the blanket and sighed, "Yeah, I'll take it regardless."

She did appreciate him helping her out even if she was a jerk somewhat. In fact, she doesn't understand how Booker could tolerate her even if she pushed him aside constantly and Sans was trying to make sure that she was still alright.

"It would actually be convenient if I knew fire magic or something like that but that's just me being wishy washy so we'll just have to make the best of things and just improvise until we get out of the mountain." she continued, wondering, "Though, I think it's gonna be dark when we get out unless we rest here for the night or something. Is there any clocks around here?"

 

[Sans]

* none that work, i'm sure. i suppose then we'll just have to clock out for the night, huh?

Chuckling, he looked back towards the rocking chair. * i could read you a bedtime story, if you'd like. might help you.

 

[Kagami]

"Sans, you really snuck in that one." she chuckled a bit before she perked up at him with the offer of reading her a bedtime story and asked, "A bedtime story? What am I? Five or something?"

It felt so awkward at first, but overtime, she supposed it wouldn't hurt. She always read books on her own and can understand the words just fine even though it was hard to see, but she's here with Sans and this isn't the only embarrassing thing..

"..but I guess I could make an exception. Is there anything interesting?"

 

[Sans]

* oh, i've got a good one for you. it always puts my little brother to sleep.

He went and sat down in the rocking chair.

* once upon a time, there was a wee little bone, and the wee little bone wanted to grow up to be a big, strong skeleton. but their parents told them they couldn't. they didn't like that, so they began to chug milk every day of their life so they could grow up to be big and strong.

* then, one day, they found that their wee little bone had become two little bones, then three, then four. Every day, they grew another bone, until after a year, they had two hundred and fifty-six bones: a full skeleton.

* and so the skeleton ran around, arms flapping in the breeze, experiencing the world as a grown-up.

He paused for a few seconds. * the end.

 

[Kagami]

Kagami glared at Sans after she heard the story as she wasn't asleep. In fact, she was very annoyed.

"That was stupid! Couldn't you have told a more detailed and complex story than that?" she asked before she continued, "And the truth is that I've read more chapters in a book before so simple stories like that isn't going to satisfy me!"

Yeah, she wasn't a happy camper especially when she crossed her arms, pouting.

"Seriously, couldn't I go anywhere without someone treating me like I'm some little kid or something like that? I deserve more respect! Did I not tell you that several times before?"

 

[Sans]

* dude, what do you think bedtime stories are? they're for babies.

Sans did have to wonder why she expected something big and complex from stories that were meant to put people to sleep. One would think that the simplicity of a bedtime story would be what puts one to sleep, but maybe Beanish people worked differently, or at least this particular Beanish did.

 

[Kagami]

Kagami grumbled a bit before she rolled her eyes.

"You should had told me earlier bonehead!" she sighed before she covered herself as she coughed a bit and sniffed. "Ah, whatever, is there a room where there's a bed or something? I'm crashing soon and I'm not gonna be sleeping on the floor."

It might take awhile before she calms down before falling asleep judging at how mad she is currently.

 

[Sans]

* probably. should be one down the hall or something. that's where i found the blanket.

As he spoke, he laid his head back against the back of the rocking chair. * in the meanwhile, i'll take this chair. it's comfy.

Well, truth be told, it wasn't really all that comfortable, but he had slept in way worse places before, so maybe his notion of what was and wasn't comfortable was really skewed.

 

[Kagami]

"Alright then, I'll just go over there then." she sighed as she got up from the ground while she looked to Sans resting on the rocking chair. "Well, anyways, good night or whatever time it is down here. I dunno but hey, talk to ya later Sans."

After that, she would go to the room down the hall, opened the first door and enter, shutting it behind her as she would be welcomed by seeing a bed without a blanket. She would toss the flower blanket on it before she would remove Sans' coat, her hoodie and took off her boots. By the looks of the room, it looked like some kid's room or something like that as it is but she didn't really mind as it's a place that she could handle with..for now.

"Atleast this place isn't freezing cold.." she sighed before she would eventually take off her glasses and put them on the sidetable. "Sheesh, am I beat. Today was an interesting day in itself and it's not everyday you get something like this unless you really look for it."

Eventually, she would go to the bed and sit on it before she would lay down and cover herself with the blanket to make herself more comfortable.

"I'd wished I had my lantern or something with me though.. Oh well, I can tough it out without one." she mumbled before she yawned, "Just like with whatever is trying to slow me down since Snowdin, but then again, Hotland was pretty bad too."

After a few moments of mumbling and thinking for a bit, eventually her eyes closed as she fell asleep.

"The blanket is nice though..nice and comfortable.. kinda.. zzz..."

 

[Sans]

* talk to ya later, kid.

Sans watched Kagami as she left the room. He didn't lie down and truly relax into the rocking chair he sat on until he heard the soft click of the bedroom door closing.

He sighed. Kagami really was a piece of work. He never had to work this hard with Papyrus (although, to be fair, he didn't work that hard with Kagami either.) He couldn't help but appreciate the irony in the fact that he had intended to leave this place and now, instead, found himself almost right back where he had started. It would have been a funny joke if it wasn't also a cruel one, but it wasn't like it mattered much. What could he tell the people outside this mountain? That what was going to happen had already happened? What could he even do now?

He thought of Toriel, Asgore, Undyne, Papyrus. He thought of the human child. He thought of Gaster. What would they have done? Would they have done nothing? Would they have sat idly by while the galaxy fell to the darkness of Darkseid?

Well, the answer was somewhat obvious. The Unmaking wasn't going to stop itself. He had to do something against such a dire, immense threat, else the entire Crossroads would become exactly like Governmore. It's what they would have done, and what they would have wanted him to do. The question, then, was what.

He needed to get to Arcadia. If he did, he could catch himself up with what all had happened and figure out what to do next from there.

For now, though...

* (sleeping skeleton noises)

 

[Kagami]

As the two were asleep for the night, time carried onwards. Even outside the mountain, the night turned to day and upon reaching morning from within the mountain, Kagami would be interrupted by a loud, beeping sound that she came to awaken with was going off in her room.

Upon first reaction, she questioned herself as she didn't remember setting an alarm or anything like that. Well, from what it sounded like, being something like an alarm clock for some reason, and despite of the oddity, she would slowly but surely get up, only to tumble off the bed, making some noise from within the room.

If that isn't enough to deal with, what she was going to deal with next was going to just add more fuel to the fire.

"Daggone it! Shut up already!" she grumbled while she was trying to get up.

It didn't help that she was getting a headache and before long, she would eventually grab her glasses from the side table and put them on to which she sighed while getting up on her feet with said flower blanket wrapped across her body. That's one thing down but now, where is that stupid alarm clock?

The fact was that she really hope it's not making too much of a noise to wake up Sans from outside the room.

 

[Sans]

Luckily, Sans was quite a bit of a heavy sleeper. It was going to take more than an alarm clock to wake that bag of bones up. As such, he remained asleep, slumped over the rocking chair as it rocked soundly and softly. Small "z's" escaped through the teeth of his smile every so often as Kagami investigated her room for the dreaded alarm clock.

As he slept, a presence formed inside the room. It stared at him, a somber look in its eyes. It held two plates of spaghetti in its hands that it promptly settled on the floor a few feet in front of Sans. It never took its eyes off of him for even a moment until, its delivery complete, it seemed to fade back into the shadows in the room like it was never there at all.

 

[Kagami]

Eventually, Kagami found the dreaded alarm in the room and turned it off after slamming the OFF button. It should be lucky that she can't use her powers on it because she was still recovering and secondly, she would had probably crushed it.

"Finally.." she sighed as she would rub her head with the sense of relief before she yawned afterwards. "I wonder what time it is.."

She would look at the alarm clock and it said 11:00AM, which assured her that atleast she didn't oversleep..again. However, in that brief time, she would soon exit out in the room, only to be welcomed by the smell of..spaghetti?

What?

Before long, the Beanish knit her brow as she would turn her head and looked down the hallway, only to see someone has dropped off two plates of spaghetti nearby Sans' location. She wondered if it was the work of the Tall Man again, who was making sure the both of them had something to eat before they would leave the mountain.

The strange entity was mysterious but also friendly and to be honest, she's glad that Sans knows of them.

Regardless, Kagami shrugged from underneath the flower blanket and fortunately, she was feeling somewhat better today, but now, she's also hungry so she would walk over to the plates, however, not without stopping in front of Sans. Of course, instead of interrupting his sleep, she would walk back to her room, grab his coat and put it on him as a blanket for the skeleton in a sense.

She already had enough with the weight of two coats on her anyways.

 

[Sans]

Sans wriggled about a bit as Kagami placed his coat on his body. He seemed to stop shivering a little bit; he didn't even have a blanket on before Kagami came around.

After about a minute, he opened his eyes, grunting a bit. * ah... good mornin'.

As he "sniffed" the air-- can skeletons sniff at all? Not even Sans knows-- his dot eyes widened a bit at the sight of the two plates of spaghetti laid before the duo. A flash of nostalgia rolled through him. Papyrus used to make that all the time. They weren't always great, but just the sight of them...

* yo, did the tall man come back? seems like he did.

He wasn't certain how good that was, though. As much as the Tall Man seemed friendly, a part of him wondered if he was more akin to a bad omen, as someone who came to deliver sour news. He had wondered for a little while if Gaster would have ever done what he did if the Tall Man never came.

* you, uh, have a good rest?

 

[Kagami]

"Until the alarm went off, yeah. I had a good rest." she nodded before she shrugged, "You were shivering? I dunno why but whatever so got your coat and just plopped it on ya."

She wondered a bit before she continued, "You know, I thought skeletons can't feel cold or anything like that? Unless you've been lying to me about it this entire time."

By the looks of things, it was an honest question coming from her and as she watched Sans, she tightened her grip on the flower blanket before she looked down to the platefuls of spaghetti. An odd choice of food but regardless, it was nice to have something to eat before they would leave and they would need their energy.

A sigh. "Well, anyways, it's 11 in the morning so we woke up at a good time so better grab some grub, get ready and go. I'm sure we don't have much of the Underground left to explore anyways and we gotta get going up and out."

Eventually, she would carefully kneel down, loosening up the grip she had on the blanket and grab a plate, handing it to Sans first while leaving the other plate on the ground for her.

 

[Sans]

* i mean, i don't normally feel cold. then again, i'm always wearing my coat, so...

He eagerly took the plate from Kagami and started to chow down on it. He was amazed at the texture and the taste of the thing. The Tall Man's cooking was seriously that delectable.
