[Kagami]

Kagami perked up and looked away from Sans as she was looking up to the cavern ceiling, trying to avoid the situation. "Oh me? I'm fine, peachy keen in fact!"

Though, she was feeling elsewise before she grumbled somewhat afterwhile, sighing.

"..argh..okay, not fine. Remember that quiche I smacked you with? Turns out that was actually..a bit of a bad idea..but atleast it was a good laugh."

She actually should had ate the quiche despite how Sans was making it out to be this scenario as the food talked. She can't believe she fell for it so easily! In fact, there's no doubt that she's not going to forget that so easily for days to come.

 

[Sans]

* ah, you’re hungry? you didn’t even bring snacks?

He ignored the irony of his own statement, since it wasn’t like he was prone to bring much besides ketchup bottles for sustenance. Then again, it wasn’t like it took much to actually sustain a monster such as himself. He was perfectly content with hamburgers and fries.

Nevertheless, he looked up at the ceiling with her.

* … ah.

Something was watching them from up above. It was as dark as the shadows around it, and if it weren’t for the small, beady eyes that pierced through, it would have been impossible to see at all. It seemed to sit in between the crystals, where their lights couldn’t touch it at all. Still, as Sans narrowed his own eyes, trying to get a closer look…

Something about it looked familiar, like he had seen it before.

Wait.

Oh.

Sans promptly walked up next to Kagami. * yo. long time, no see. you make that quiche?

The figure in the dark didn’t say anything, but it did start to move through the darkness, slowly coming down to their level.

 

[Kagami]

Kagami noticed the figure when she wasn't even looking for it. Her attention was moreso on the ceiling but regardless, it was nice to see the figure again even though that wasn't her current motive to find them. Odd really, but regardless, she looked back down to Sans and at the sight of the quiche, she swiped it in her hands.

"No, but I'm not wasting this one!" she exclaimed.

This time, she actually ate it without another moment wasted and she was tearing into it without remorse. Yeah, she's not the best individual with showing any sort of 'table manners' whenever it came to food especially when it came to her hunger.

 

[Sans]

* see, tall man? she loves quiche.

Sans snickered as Kagami immediately went to consuming the newly-made quiche like a really, really hungry dog. As he glanced back to the Tall Man, he decided to capitalize on this new scenario by getting some payback.

* yo, kagami. the tall man looks a little upset. i think you hurt his feelings when you threw his quiche at me.

He winked in the direction of the Tall Man, who responded by simply staring blankly at him.

 

[Kagami]

Kagami stopped for a moment before she looked to the direction of the Tall Man and said, "Yeah, yeah, sorry about that and I should be more grateful that I had something than to end up wasting it on Sans. Now, I'm nearly finished!"

She continued eating the quiche until she finished when it was all gone and sighed before she perked up yet she was somewhat messy.

"Wait, Tall Man? He? What?! Is that who you are?"

Now her full attention is on the Tall Man as she was looking at him curiously before she looked to Sans with a slightly annoyed look.

"Sans, you didn't tell me that you actually knew! Was this another secret of yours?"

 

[Sans]

* i mean, i knew that he existed. i can’t tell you much else other than that. tall man isn’t even his name, but it served us well enough.

He gestured at the Tall Man. * he came out of the mountain at some point to tell dr. gaster stuff. he inspired him to come back and study the mountain.

 

[Kagami]

"Wow Sans, I didn't know that you stooped to King Asgore level on naming but if it works, hey."

She was wondering about the Tall Man the moment she looked away from Sans.

"So, he came out of the mountain? Like, poof, appeared and that?" Kagami couldn't help but to wonder, however she did nod. "Well, he has to come from somewhere but the thing is that until that's found out, the best bet is to take it as face value for now. After all, we still have to leave the mountain eventually and I'm sure it's going to be nightfall by the time we exit."

Kagami backing off? Not really but she feels it would be best to continue this another time since she already brought Sans through much already with a couple of arguments and the such. It'll be better off if she did it alone.

However, the mention of Gaster, she stopped.

"Wait, you mean that scientist that you had talked about earlier while we were heading to Hotland?" she asked before she continued, "Well, this is an interesting development. So, Tall Man came out of the mountain, Gaster was studying Tall Man, you knew Tall Man, and now, I know but how long had you've known each other? Several years or something?"

 

[Sans]

Sans shrugged. * yeah. he just poofed out of nowhere and came out of the mountain and talked about stuff.

He chuckled. * i wouldn’t say we know him. he’s not exactly the kind of guy you get to know, so to speak. it was more like we studied him and he gave us cryptic riddles to ponder over.

He looked back to her. * by the way, do you happen to have a radio or something on you? a functioning one, i mean. it’s the only way you’re gonna get him to talk to you.

 

[Kagami]

"Let's see.." she replied before she continued, "Usually I do carry around something electronic with me whenever it involves instances like this. Just hope I didn't forget it."

Soon to remove her hoodie for a brief moment, she would dig her hand inside the central hoodie pocket, eventually pulling out a small notepad, a pencil and finally, a battery powered pocket radio in the process.

"It's a good thing that I still do have this stuff with me. Let's see if it works.."

Eventually, while she briefly put aside the notepad and pencil to the side, as she would click on the pocket radio to see if it was working. When she heard the static noise, she nodded as everything was going well as she hoped, thank goodness.

"Alright, we're good to go. Yeah, I know, I'm old fashioned with this but it works and besides, I don't care about the fanciness of something since I care more on the means if it working."

The pocket radio would be enveloped with a telekinetic magenta aura as Kagami would get the pencil and notepad ready while looking at the Tall Man before she would straighten her glasses a bit, eventually looking over to Sans while she passed the pocket radio.

"Hey Sans, can ya hold onto this in the meanwhile?"

 

[Sans]

* sure.

He reached out and grabbed the radio from out of the air. He took a moment to look it over, realizing that it was practically the same radio that he had before he had entered the Code Dimension. It seemed like Gaster was not the only one who had a preference for the old and reliable versus the new and futuristic– although, in all fairness to his mentor, the old stuff was also way better at actually detecting the electromagnetic pulses that they were searching for than any of the new stuff could.

He waited for Kagami to ready herself before he held the pocket radio up, the static bursting through it. He fiddled around with its knobs, trying to tune it.

* yo, tall man. can you talk through this?

Nothing. Sans grunted and fiddled with the radio some more.

* say hello to the bean girl for me, tall man.

Then, after a few moments, a voice emerged from the static, a soft yet nasally whisper in the fog of radio static.

* H E L L O . . .

 

[Kagami]

"Heya there." Kagami replied casually before she asked. "Do you want me to introduce myself or something? I mean, I am new down here and well, I was wondering if you want to know my name or anything like that before we get to the questions. You know, the basics and that to avoid confusion, that's all."

She was wondering what the Tall Man has to say to her especially when it comes to the rumors going around this place and the likes. Maybe, just maybe something will come out of this after she has been dealing with what shenanigans that she has dealt with Sans.

 

[Sans]

* H E L L O . . . K A G A M I . . .

* sounds like you don’t need to. he already knows your name, heh.

Aside from the remark, he kept his mouth shut, deciding it would be within everyone’s best interests to watch the proceedings and respond from there.

 

[Kagami]

"Well excuse me for not knowing about this mountain like you do Sans. If I had known, I wouldn't be asking questions." Kagami looked to Sans for a moment before she looked back to the Tall Man. "Alright, so you know my name, okay, well that takes care of that."

She perked up. "First things first, did you make the quiche? Well, the first one that is before it got ruined to which I already apologize for some time ago. After all, Sans was practically begging me about that question for awhile so I couldn't ignore it."

Why is she asking about this as it was a bit of an odd thing to ask for but she might as well get it clarified.

 

[Sans]

Sans shrugged at her remark. It seemed like she was still upset with him. She just needed some more time. Perhaps this little interview will cheer her up some.

* Y E S . . .

Sans chuckled a little at that. The Tall Man was known for his culinary tastes; Sans himself had theorized that his time in the Code Dimension gave him plenty of opportunities to learn how to cook delicious meals, the quiche being only one of many.

 

[Kagami]

Kagami felt even more bad for wasting the food on Sans but how he acted infuriated her at that time that she needed to take her rage out on someone. As much as she wanted to hurt Sans, she couldn't at the same time and this is a first to someone that would be considered as an outsider that she could tolerate..somewhat.

All the rest of them would run off or something. It was that lonely for her.

"Well, I did eat the second one and it's very delicious." Kagami complimented as she continued, "Though, how did you learn how to cook?"

Now she is curious about food which was something she didn't expect to veer towards in this interview.

 

[Sans]

* T H A N K Y O U . . .

The Tall Man reached up to where his head would be. He seemed to be scratching his chin.

* E N J O Y E D C O O K I N G B E F O R E T R A N S P O R T A T I O N . . .

Sans nodded at that, still keeping his mouth shut. It was a similar response that the Tall Man had given back when he had first appeared in his timeline after they had asked him where his inclination for cooking came from. He had always wondered whether or not Papyrus would have enjoyed his presence at all, especially when it came to various pastas.

 

[Kagami]

Transportation? This was new. In fact, she looked to Sans in silence for a moment before she looked back up to the Tall Man.

"Hold up, time out, let me get this straight. You said that you were transported? How in the world did that happen?" she asked before she continued, "And secondly, does it have something to do with this mountain's strange activity as mentioned by the rumors? Whispers had been going about as of late and you know, that's more than enough to get attention."

 

[Sans]

The Tall Man glanced towards Sans for a few moments, silent. Sans stared back, his smile never fading even as his expression, despite the smile, remained weary. He only gave the Tall Man the most gentle and uncertain of nods.

Blinking twice, The Tall Man looked back towards Kagami.

* I S T E P P E D T H R O U G H A D O O R . . . T H A T W A S N ‘ T T H E R E B E F O R E . . .

* that’s what gaster was trying to figure out. he wanted to know if the tall man’s transportation was connected to something in mount ebbott itself.

 

[Kagami]

"A door? Okay, that's oddly specific, but not any door, a door that wasn't there before." Kagami wondered for a bit as she would write it down on her notepad with her pencil. "Though, to be honest, I was always told that reality is stranger than fiction."

She was trying to sum things up, especially adding to what Sans had to say, until she stopped and looked up to Sans.

"Well, earlier, you were somehow able to appear behind and in front of me, which looks to be a teleport or something akin to that several times. Do you know how you did it?"

 

[Sans]

* oh, that…? uh… not really, no…

He lifted up his other hand, rubbing his skeletal fingers together. Narrowing his eyes, he noticed a thin layer of static building up between them that he didn’t recall being there beforehand at any point in time.

* Y O U W E R E T R A N S P O R T E D T O O . . .

He looked back up to the Tall Man, observing how the shadowy figure shimmered before them. He decided not to comment on his remark for now, as he was now far too focused on the implications of just what had happened to him when he had arrived in Mount Ebbott.

* maybe i can…?

He turned back towards the plates, specifically the first of the many silver plates etched implanted in the wall. Somehow, he managed to get in front of Kagami. Perhaps he could do so again?

How, though, was the greater question.

He decided to stare at the plates, his left eye starting to blink rapidly between cyan and orange like a flashing police car. He was going to have to concentrate on the spot in order to do much of anything. He held his static-filled hand out, feeling a tingling building up within his skeletal body as the radio incessantly clicked like a geiger counter.

He thought about how easy it would be to just step forward and be there, like he had taken some sort of shortcut.

So, he did. He stepped forward.

All snapped to black for only a moment. In that time, he had seen a small, pink door within the immense black. He then stumbled towards it and, curious, opened it up to then step out, now underneath the blue lights of the crystals hanging above the history plates.

He turned around, staring back at the distant Kagami and Tall Man. The look of shock on Kagami’s face instantly told him something: she hadn’t seen even a single bit of what he had seen, and to her, it was as if one moment, he was there, and, as if the darkness had forced her to blink, he was back at the plates.

* … huh.
